Jim Miller vs. Ben Henderson set for UFC on Versus 5
Posted on May 11, 2011, 05:43 AM by Anton GurevichWell, it looks like Jim Miller will have to wait for his shot at the UFC Lightweight title. According to The Asbury Park Press, Miller will square off against the former WEC Lightweight Champion Ben Henderson at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on August 14th. The fight is expected to serve as a headliner for UFC on Versus 5.
Miller is currently on a 7-0 run inside the Octagon, holding a professional MMA record of 20-2. Miller's only defeats are via Decisions against the current Champion Frankie Edgar and the challenger Gray Maynard. As for his opponent Ben Henderson, "Bendo" successfully recovered from defeat against Anthony Pettis with an impressive performance against Mark Bocek at UFC 129.
UFC on Versus 5 also includes a Light Heavyweight bout between Stephan Bonnar and the Czech-British powerhouse Karlos Vemola, as well as the welterweight collision between Duane Ludwig and Amir Sadollah.

yes... this will be a good stand up fight !
Im taking Miller, I think he is one of the most under rated, fighters out there.
I gota say that if you think Ben has just as much to lose as Miller, you must be crazy... Miller is riding a 7 fight win streak right? and Henderson is on a 1 fight win streak. He lost to Pettis who yes deserves his shot but yall cant forget we havent seen them fight an elite in the UFC yet, Ben doesnt deserve this fight yet imo. Im goin with Miller tho cuz hes the damn man!! War Miller!!!!
You have to go with Miller just for the 70's porn mustache.
He looks like Walker texas ranger. When he wins, he'll be unzipped and Chuck Norris will be reveal himself, killing everyone instantly with his radiance, like in Raiders of the Lost Ark.
FYI... Mark Bocek is a high caliber Lightweight. That's fact.
This Division has the best endless match-ups for the rest of the year
Ya I agree....this division is so stacked so many possible match ups, Bendo vs Miller is going to be great I'm going with Bendo
#1 contender?
Not if Pettis destroys Clay (which he will) so probably #2... and i got Bendo winning this which would mean a possible rematch between Pettis and Bendo in the near future !! (Yes, i believe Pettis will take the belt after he takes care of Clay).
I agree with that. I got Bendo but it should be a pretty close bout. I'm sure Henderson is itching to get that rematch.
I was already a believer in Bendo, but obviously with these guys coming over from the WEC there is that question until u see them perform against proven opponents. But, Henderson erased all doubt in my mind in his fight with Bocek... Bocek is a high caliber fighter, and tho he didn't get the finish, Bendo looked great out there. I especially enjoyed when he seemed to get angry and exploded with strikes in the.... I can't remember if it was late in the second or the third round. But yea.
WEC isn't like Strikeforce or Bellator though, arguably the top 5 WEC guys at LW were better than the UFC's.
I like this match up but Miller has more to lose than Ben does. I'd like to see Jim vs Melvin Guillard or another fight currently on a winning streak.
I wouldn't say that. Don't forget that Ben Henderson is "in the mix" too and hasn't fought Edgar or Maynard yet. Also, had he beaten Pettis he'd be next in line. He has a lot to lose. This is an interesting matchup.
Correct... !
I wouldn't consider Ben in the race. Sure he's one of the better 155ers but he lost his belt 2 fights ago. If i'm not mistaken, you have to work your way back into the mix. And what's the point of bringing up had he beaten Pettis? He didn't so that don't matter. If Ben's even in the top 10 of 155, it's at the lower half.
This is perhaps the best match-up I have seen from the UFC, the perfect decision right now!
Who do you like Bam just curious?
Lol, I am curious as well...
Just giving u a hard time ;)
Great work UFC!
I guess the winner will get Melendez as Guida/Pettis gets the next crack at Maynard/Edgar (the lightweight division is awesome)
Yeah Guillard/Roller are in the mix too. Wow not a good time to be an up and comer in the lightweight division! The ladder's just turned into the world's longest flight of stairs
