Top Lightweight contenders Jim Miller and Melvin Guillard, who will go head to head at UFC on FX 1, first square off on the set of HDNet's "Inside MMA." Each competitor shares their thoughts on the match-up, as well as their strategy heading into the bout. Photo: Scott Hirano

Jim Miller: He's a tough guy, and I've fought a lot of tough opponents. Melvin is a dynamic striker, and one of the most dangerous strikers in the division. So, he sets himself apart from the other guys I've fought with that. But, I'm prepared, ready to fight, and ready to fight him wherever the fight goes. ... It is definitely like the classic match-up, a ground guy vs. striker, but he's got good wrestling and I'm just as comfortable on my feet. So, we both have our strengths, but neither one is completely out-classed in the other guys strengths. It should be a really tough, exciting fight.

Melvin Guillard: I have to be very patient and methodical against a guy like Jim Miller, or it could be another early night for me. So, I really want to focus in on being patient and picking my shots very well. ... A fight like this against Jim Miller, it's definitely got title written all over it. I want to walk into this fight as if I'm going to walk out the champion. A guy like Jim Miller, to me, is maybe nine or ten-times more deadly than a guy like Joe Lauzon. So, I really have to be more careful in my approach.

i think jim miller is going to take this 2nd round sub i think jims too good to be caught early by melvin but he will struggle to melvin down early hes got very explosive hips but i think at on point this will hit the ground and melvin will be in very big trouble when that happens

I was actually hoping that Miller would beat Henderson and Guillard would beat Lauzon to set up this fight, but both of them losing is just as good. I'd hate to be the odds setters for this fight; bout as even as you can get I think. Whoever wins, I think it'll happen fast.
