I thought that too but actually boxing is older when researched although it has changed a lot over the millenia. I do think it's quite gutsy to say you will choke randy when even Big Nog couldn't.

Pancrase had preceeded boxing for about a Century , assuming of course that we are talking about Boxing as a sport as it appeared in the Ancient Olympic Games.

I like how we all say we hope Toney learns some takedown defense or other aspects of MMA. Somehow, even though I can hardly understand a word, he talked himself into the UFC, then talked himself into his first fight being against a Hall of Famer. Anyone else who ever talked bad about Dana saw their career drop off a cliff immediately thereafter yet it seemed to work perfectly for Toney.



Maybe Toney just us all some lessons about MMA...

I bet Randy will take Toney down at will and call the shots from there.



But, if I was forced to choose, I would rather fight anyone else than Toney. I think his trash talk is not an act and it scares me.

i believe he is fearless, but he is the one who is going to be choked out aug 28, sounds like he's taken to many to the head. randys brain on the other hand is healthy. so i would bet on that alone. but randy will win submission rear naked choke. he is his own hype man, props for that.

He's going to choke out Randy, that's hilarious. I understood about 5 words of what he said during his 5 minute rant about nothing. It's obvious he's been punched in the head one too many times. He will probably look like a complete fool after the fight when he gets owned by Couture. After all this talk I hope he does something impressive during the fight, but I'm not sure at all that he will. 95% certainty that he gets clinched, dropped, and pounded.

I dont think he seriously believes in himself as much as he portrays he does. He is just promoting. I mean I am sure he is training and trying and would like to win and make a run at MMA, but in the mean time he is just promoting. This is the first decent boxer with a big name to fight against a mixed martial artist. They know the potential earnings. Dana doesnt want to be put on blast for putting on a "freak show" so he is letting Toney do the promoting.... I am sure thats is how Toney approached Dana White with the proposal. Money makes the world go round...

So let me get this straight....you're saying that Toney is going to win on a punchers chance. Granted he probably does have an advantage with his hands but everywhere else hes definitely behind including parts of stand up like throwing effective kicks. I don't think he has very good odds. As far as Dana letting Randy go, I would have to say that its stupid to think that. Randy wont go anywhere so long as he keeps putting on entertaining fights.

Do any of you guys remember when Randy was beating up Tito and he was in kind of a standing ground and pound and Tito's butt was up in the air as if he was trying to roll out of it, then Randy patted him softly on the butt three times? Rogan was like WTF and wondered if Randy was tapping out but then realized he was just telling Tito, "I'm your daddy..."



Hoping for some similar punishment for Toney.

toney is set up to be an example of what boxer's are in store for when they cross over. that's the reason he's fighting randy, not necessarily because he's deserving (which he may be), but the stylistic matchup tests the waters of the interaction between the two sports.

Talk about punched drunk, this guy actually thinks he can get in there with Couture in an MMA fight AND beat him, these days he's not even that good a boxer really either. Randy will just double leg him, control him on the ground and pound him out, i'll bet his cardio is an issue also, five minutes cliching with Randy and his arms will get heavy and he'll get tired. I really can't see any way Toney wins this fight but you never know, this is MMA right?..........

Listening to James Toney is is like chewing tin foil. He's so punch drunk he can't speak properly. He has Zero chance against Randy. I bet he's so slow Randy could stand with him. This fight will end up on the ground , randy will flatten him out and GnP whats left of James Toney's Brain , Hell... maybe he will speak clear again after the beating he's gonna take.
