What about Johny Hendricks? That guy knocked out the number 2 guy in the world and is very well rounded. His wrestling is just as good as GSP's. I think that it should of been Ellenburger vs Hendricks for the number one contender. Those guys have earned it. Kampann... Not so much he barely survived Alves and was being out strucked by hum until he caught him in a guilitene.

I see where you are coming from but with that logic.

Kampmann did better against Sanchez then Ellenberger, in that if that fight went 5 rounds, Kampmann would have won by Doctors stoppage in the start of the 4th round. While Sanchez was on his way to either stopping Ellenberger in the later rounds or stealing a 5 round decision in the end. Kampmann lost to Sanchez and Shields but to most people, those are wins.

Also Hendricks landed a punch on Jon Fitch, this is MMA where that can happen, its not like Hendricks outclassed Fitch.

And like how Silva subbed Sonnen after getting dominated for 5 rounds, Silva still won and kept his belt.

Kampmann still won and now will fight Ellenberger

But if Hendricks beats Koscheck, he will be next in line for sure. Welterweight is just kinda jammed at the moment.

I think Ellenberger has the best chance of beating GSP if he can sort out his gas tank because apart from that he has basically no holes in his game.

Saying that, I think that Hendricks should definitely become #1 contender if he beats Kos.

I think Ellenberger deserves the spot at #1 as well and will probably get it but unless Kampmann dominates and destroys Ellenberger I don't think he should get the spot, if he wins anything like his previous fight I think it would be outrageous him getting it over Hendricks.

Kampman has made a war in every big fight hes been in. His last 2 wins were over Alves and Story both are top contenders, He also holds a win over Condit the number one contender. Johnny hendricks is an up and comer but he hasnt faced a top contender in UFC other than Fitch and his loss to rick story. I want to see hendricks really tested maybe a fight with Diego Sanchez.

I personally would rank Rory Mcdonald over Johnny Hendricks and I would like to see him tested aswell against a top contender.

I think it's a bad idea to push MacDonald to fast, he is still so young and if he gets a title fight and gets demolished it could waste some of his potential. I hope we don't take the Phil Davis route and throw him up against the very elite too quick.

I think he could handle himself but I think he will develop better if he doesn't get pushed up the ranks too quickly. Ideally I would like to see Rory fight 4 more times before a title shot.

Well Hendricks beat Mike Pierce who is also a top guy that not too many people give credit to. I think Hendricks KOing Fitch after beating Mike Pierce seals his position for a number one contender spot. Also Fitch has never been knocked out before, so Hendricks is the real deal. Kampmann has a hard time dealing with aggressive fighters and it has been proven in the past by losing to Daley and Sanchez. Hendricks would run him over like a bulldozer.

I say give the winner of this match to Nick Diaz. Then let the winner of Condit and GSP defend against Diaz. Sounds good to me.

I think Kampmann can give St. Pierre a lot of trouble from a match up perspective. He has just as good if not better standup then St. Pierre and very active with submissions. Probably one of the most underrated Welterweights out there.

There is a bit of a backlog in the WW division at the moment, there's Alves, Story, Condit, Ellenberger, Pierce, Fitch, Koscheck, Kampmann and Hendricks is in there too. I know Alves, Story, Fitch, Kos and Pearce have all recently been beat but there's no denying they're top contenders who will probably get a shot sometime down the road. Condit is waiting it out for his shot, Diaz is out (for now at least) A case could be made for Hendricks though, he beat Pierce, who beat Koscheck and then went on to brutally KO Fitch, which was also a first. I think Ellenberger stands a good chance of beating Kampmann but i genuinely think that Hendricks would have a good chance at beating them both. I've always liked Kampmann but he doesn't seem to handle aggression too well and it's often his submissions that save him. It will be a good fight but i think Hendricks is being a little overlooked and deserves a bit more acknowledgement........
