Jake Ellenberger defeats John Howard via Doctor Stoppage
Posted on August 1, 2010, 09:07 PM by Anton GurevichYoung gun Jake Ellenberger outpowered John Howard during three rounds, in a bout that was decided by a Doctor Stoppage. Ellenberger perfectly executed his gameplan by successfully taking down Howard on numerous occasions, followed by an effective Ground-and-Pound. Howard was still extremely dangerous on his feet, but it was Ellenberger's supreme Wrestling that gave him an upper hand in this match-up.
The result of Ellenberger's Ground-and-Pound was Howard's E.T-like swollen left eye, which forced the referee Herb Dean to stop the contest after receiving an advice from the doctor. Howard managed to rock Jake Ellenberger several times during the fight, but the Nebraska-native weathered the storm adding a prestigious victory to his record.
Jake Ellenberger improved his record to 23-5, solidifying his place at the top of the UFC Welterweight division. John Howard deserves a rematch for his heart and effort, but he was on a sure way to lose a decision if not to a Doctor Stoppage.
