Jake Ellenberger says Diego Sanchez's "stupid guy pace" is going to get him hurt

Rapidly rising Welterweight contender, Jake Ellenberger, who will square off with Diego Sanchez at UFC on Fuel TV 1, discusses his opponent, as well as his expectations for the bout. Ellenberger says he is confident in his ability to overcome Sanchez anywhere the fight goes, and insists that if "The Dream" rushes in on him with "that stupid guy pace," he's going to hurt him.

Jake Ellenberger

"I think where a lot of his opponents have failed is, they kind of give him too much respect. If you let him dictate the pace of the fight and the range, you're going to be in for a long night. If he wants to go that break-neck, stupid guy pace, I can do that too. But, I plan on hurting him on my feet - I know I can hurt him. If he wants to come at me, kind of bully-rush like he usually does, he's going to get hurt. I'm really prepared anywhere the fight goes."

Well, that will be hard since he is fighting Sanchez but I guess if you've been watching a lot of WWE "wrestling" he could hope out of the cage and run into the audience and get Diaz.

If Sanchez survives the first half of the fight, it will be a close decision.

This fight is Ellenberger's most important fight. If he can't beat Diego, he can forget the belt but if he wins, man I guess he'll be 1 one fight away from a title shot or even ready who knows ;)

Ellenberger accomplishments aren't even close to what Diego has done in MMA... And yet you people are all over Ellenberger nuts... Only good fighter Ellenberger has beaten is Jake Shields... Keep Sleeping on Diego Sanchez..... Yet at the end ... Diego > Ellenberger .

Agreed. I want diego to develop some wrestling and start putting down the snorers and loudmouths in the hugging division.

Ellenberger is just a wrestler with heavy hands, diego wows people.

Yeah, Diego is awesome. His fight with Nick Diaz years ago was epic. And almost all of his fights were great for that matter.

Jake is an excellent wrestler. Now he has great stand up power. He needs to hamburger Sanchez for the frist 2rounds. In between he needs to stuff Sanchez takedown attempts and do a few of his own.

Remember: BJ beat the crap out of Sanchez and stuff everyone of his takedowns.

Takedown defense & great stand up punching is the recipe for beating Diego....
