Hector Lombard: I want to fight Anderson Silva

Hector Lombard, made his first statement after joining the Ultimate Fighting Championship by calling out the reigning Middleweight champ Anderson Silva. Lombard spoke about his respect for Anderson Silva as a fighter, but made it clear that he wants to fight "The Spider".
The Cuban-Australian KO artist is 31-2-1 in his MMA career, with 18 first round finishes. However, MMA experts are somewhat sceptical about Lombard's chances to fight for the UFC Middleweight title, not speaking about breaking into the mix. The identity of Hector Lombard's first opponent in the UFC is yet to be determined, but it looks like Brian Stann could be the one to welcome "Shango" to the Octagon.

Hector has all the skills and abilities to fight for the MW belt but I'm not sure if his size might hold him back, I could picture Anderson picking Hector apart easily - the height and reach difference is just too much IMO.
Hector is a stocky guy but I wonder if he would ever be able to make 170, it would lessen his height and size disadvantage a lot.

Based on Hardy, Sonnen, Koscheck etc I think he's going to have to come up with something more provocative to say to get a title fight.

Beat a top 10 fighter. No, beat a couple top 10 fighters, and then talk about a title shot. Lombard is just a talented prospect with a great record against good but not great competition.

He has a legit chance of beating Anderson Silva, he has insane KO power, great judo and takedowns. Rousimar Palhares has a good chance of beating him too, with his great leg locks and superior takedowns and submissions. Chael Sonnen might beat Anderson so we'll see what happens.
If he test dirty then he will go right back to Bellator being the king over there...
He needs to be matched up with somebody like Stann, Munoz, Palhares, or even Bisping. Let Lombard get pass at least two of these guys to see where he stands in the line up of who is who...
Why are you so worried that Lombard won't pass a drug test? Because he is very big? Don't worry he will past the drug test. Rousimar Palhares is even bigger and he passed every single drug test in his UFC career. Palhares had to be tested 3 times because he is so big lol.
Reem never failed a drug test either until he came to the UFC...lol
He might, but not every muscled guy usses, before we know it muscle is stating doping, they can't all look like fedor !
I am very curious to see Hector in the UFC against top competition.
I really don't know what to expect. I am hoping all the hype is true. If he passes his first tests--they should line him up against Anderson Silva ASAP. Neither fighter is getting any younger.
I agree Codemaster. Neither fighter is getting younger and Hector deserves an immediate title shot if he wins his first UFC fight. It was the same with Jake Shields so it should be the same with Hector.
Jake Shields was coming off a win against Dan Henderson, and he moved down a weight class to fight for the title. Shields also came into the UFC with wins against many UFC vets, such as Carlos Condit, Yushin Okami, Mike Pyle, Paul Daley, Robby Lawler, and Mayhem Miller. Condit, Okami, and Hendo are all legitimate top 10 guys in their weight classes.
Lombard has never faced, let alone beaten someone of Hendo's caliber, and he does not have the same type of names on his resume. It's a terrible comparison.
Let's get Jacob Volkmann in there with Hector and see if he was shooting straight with us.

Apparently Lombard and Volkmann were wrestling together in training and Lombard ended up punching Volkmann and was branded as a bully by Jacob.
Volkmann said that he was frustrated because he could not deal with volkmanns wrestling...

Anderson will probably take Hector...strikers are easily delt with by him, no matter how fierce , ko power , etc....he moves like jagger, or more like jackson, and will evade the onslaught and counter with precision and power, as usual...sure , he could get caught...but how many times that happen ? Silva ko...rnd 2...if Lombard makes it pass the ped test and whatever decent opponents he is first given.
Some morons believe any fighter outside of the UFC is somehow inferior to those within the UFC. If WEC had not merged with the UFC and Henderson was still champion there many would say he hasn't fought top 10 opponents and the usual BS. Now it's Lombard and the morons are saying he hasn't fought anyone of note. Well Henderson is now LW champion so goes to show that sometimes other fighters from outside the UFC are underrated just as many seem to be doing to Lombard.
I would suggest you go and watch some of his fights and see for yourself what he man can do and stop being Dana's little puppy dogs thinking if they aren't in the UFC it automatically makes them inferior as it isn't always the case as has been proven more than once. Dana slates other promotions but he won't pit his fighters against other promotions fighters anymore because the last time he did his golden child Liddell got his ass handed to him by a Pride fighter.
