Dan Hardy plans to go for the knockout against GSP

Dan "The Outlaw" Hardy will face Geroges St-Pierre at UFC 111 on March 27th. Recently GSP is been looking unstoppable as he has beaten top fighters such as Jon Fitch, BJ Penn and Thiago Alves. When asked what kind of gameplan Hardy will bring to his fight he had a simple answer;

"It's difficult because he is looking good at the moment and it's difficult spotlight to be in, but all I need to do is land that one punch and that's all I'm interested in. My game is striking. He knows that. I know that. It's going to be no suprsie that he's going to want to take me down, and I'm going to want to knock him out," said Hardy

Hary believes that he has the talent and the ability to not only defeat one of the p4p best fighters in the world but to knock him out cold. Hardy's main gameplan will be too keep the fight standing as he believes that GSP does not have the kickboxing skills he has.

“I don’t think his striking is particularly brilliant. He’s a great fighter, don’t get me wrong, but he’s a great well-rounded fighter. In a kickboxing match, I’d be able to play with him pretty much,” stated Hardy.

“The thing that makes him effective with his striking is his ability to take people down. So he’s effective because people are scared of the takedown, and because they’re scared of the takedown they’re not putting fists on him, which is how he’s winning his fights. Serra went in there with a different frame of mind, you know, let’s put some fists on him and see what happens, and we all know what happened.”

Hardy plans to shock the world like Serra did back in 2007, when he knocked out GSP for the title. The title fight between Hardy and GSP takes place on March 27, at UFC 111, other match ups include an interm-heavyweight title fight between Frank Mir and Shane Carwin and a welterweight bout between Jon Fitch and Thiago Alves.

I've got no doubt in my mind that GSP will defeat Hardy. I wish GSP would give him a real beatdown because of his cockiness and big mouth...Hardy needs a lesson in humility...Personally, I don't think that Hardy is better than John Fitch or Alves...His striking is great, but that's not gonna ward off GSP's destruction on fight night...

Are you serious, Dan Hardy? In a kickboxing match, u would play with him? I would love to see GSP go in and knock him out. Another comment added to the list of making him sound like a douche. Whathe fails to see is that GSP fought Serra 3 years ago, and anyone who says that GSP looks anything now like he did in that fight is stupid. He looks like a completely different fighter now then he did when he fought Serra. To be honest, I don't know if I would rather see GSP knock him out, or GnP him for 25 minutes. What would hios excuse be knowing what someone is going to do and then he still was unable to do anything about it? I want to see how hard those strikes are from on his back. After this fight is over, I'm going to go on all fight websites and use Hardy's bloody face as the picture for my name just to piss off British people who think this guy actually has a chance, lol

I don't even need to look at your profile, I know you're American, it's so damn obvious. You people need to stop hating on the UK so much, really, it was dumb in the first place as all prejudice is. But to continue at this point is just retarded.

Here's another thought provoking and unbiased analylis....

You fancy GSP, that much is clear. You want to be his boyfriend, or as you call it "ToyBoy". You share a flat together and told the landlord you had "Shared Interests" and only do it to "Split the rent". But the only thing being split in your gaff, is your **** cheeks.

Damnit Dan. you plan to go for the KO instead of playing the smart game. Work GSP at a distance with kicks. Maybe go for a takedown, and try to dominate from the top. If you get in close with him, and try to box he is gonna beat ur ass...

thats an imaginary game. hardy wont be able to take him down and if he just kicks, he will get swept or taken down. dan can win the fight if he can keep it on his feet and use his crisp standup.

You need to quit being so defensive. Hardy has the same chance that Fujita had against Fedor. Almost knocked Fedor out, had him staggering on his feet with wobble-legs. How did he do it? He closed his eyes and ducked his and flailed hard punches, one landed. If Hardy wins, it will be like that. His boxing is not better than BJ's, IMHO.

    1. Wasn't being defensive, Hardy IS a very good striker, not a wild puncher. Watch the first exchange in the Swick fight, or the KO of Rory Markham and tell me if they look like "wild swinging punches". Very crisp technique and very accurate.

    2. Fedor and Fujita fight bares no relevance to this fight, it's not even similar, so I don't know why you're bringing that up. Different fighters, different styles, different weights. This will be a completely different fight.

Your not defensive? You're crying about everybody being a mean American for acknowledging the simple reality that Hardy is about to get F'd in the A.

And, I didn't say Hardy had bad boxing or that either fighter was anything like Fujita or Fedor (only that they're similar in that one is a thousand times better than the other).

I'm defensive against idiocy, for that I won't apologise. I'm sick of trying to bring some sort of mental balance to this site.

I know Hardy will most likely lose, look at my post in the daily poll "Who can beat hardy outside of the UFC?" Where I say "Hardy doesn't have a ****ing chance" which I wrote before any of this.

I never say in any of these posts on here that Hardy will win, I was just saying Hardy is a good boxer... then from that comes all this crap. You come on trying to impress everyone with your 0 knowledge of MMA and mark your own post as "cool" even tho there's nothing cool about it.

Seriously **** off. I've got no time to talk to you.

I agree that Hardy's boxing isn't on BJ's level but I don't think anyone in MMA has boxing as good as BJ's. GSP is good though, a great jab and straights, the difference has alot to do with a six inch reach advantage for GSP on Penn, as well as a bad gameplan by BJ to rely on his jab vs him. GSP enjoyed the same advantage vs Alves, but not against Hardy. I'm not saying Hardy's gonna outstrike em but he can't be lumped in with BJ and Alves.

Hardy should not be 'lumped in' with elite WW like Alves or BJ Penn - not until he shows full-spectrum MMA game, instead of decision wins over so-so competition.

i don't think hardy will win this fight. i am a brit by the way and i will be routing for him, but, the form GSP is in at the moment he is in a class of his own, i wouldn't back anyone against right now. hardy does have very good hands but gsp's hands are equally as good and he has that whole other aspect to bring in... the wrestling.

We all love the humility and decency of fighters like GSP, Fedor or Shogun but you can't expect everyone to be like that. And it is only humility if it's from the heart and not just a public face. I don't see how anyone could go into a fight with GSP with any other attitude, one of confidence, fearlessness and a clear game plan. Otherwise you've already lost weeks before you step in the octagon. I don't like outright disrespect between fighters but confidence and a little tasteful gamesmanship is fine. Hardy's showing enough respect so it's cool.

If people say they just don't like Hardy's cockiness, not cos he's a Brit I have to say I'm a little suspicious when so many other fighters display similar confidence and aren't questioned. Maybe those people aren't all outright prejudice towards limeys but it seems the only way you will like a British fighter is if they say nothing about winning, smile for the camera, maybe sing god bless america. I mean come on, somethings not all fair in many eyes here.

Is it true that Marcus "The Irish hand Grenade" Davis said he hopes that Dan "The Outlaw" Hardy to die of AIDS? WOW!!! that's just as bad as Mir's comment.

    Now back to topic.

Matt Serra taught me well! never say never. As great as GSP is, he has been beaten before, therefore Dan "The Outlaw" Hardy has a slim chance. I'm saying that Dan "The Outlaw" Hardy will win,but he just has a chance.

I really think people bag on GSP's striking way too much. He stood with BJ Penn, outboxed Fitch, and finished Hughes with strikes (head kick). Just cuz GSP is such a good wrestler doesn't mean he doesn't have good striking. It's sorta like how people say A. Silva has a weak ground game because his standup is so good (he has a BJJ blackbelt from the Nog bros).

Wow!! People can't take a joke. and u saying you don't want to look at my profile because You already know I'm an American for such comments is more prejudice then what I said. You are rediculous, and it's funny that u say all of these things about me being all over GSP's nutz when all u do is b*tch and complain when someone says something about Hardy or Bisping. Now, if I said Hardy was going to beat GSP's ass, u wouldn't have made such comment. The only reason u replied is because I picked GSP to win, which 98 percent of the population will do also. So in you're opinion, everyone wants to be GSP's boyfriend because they think he will win when we all know he is the better all around fighter. so STFU! Last but not least, don't sit there and say this stupid shit about how crisp his punching technique was in fights with Swick and Rory Markham. Are u serious? Neither of those 2 are on the same level as GSP, so where's you're valid point? My punching technique would look good against Rory Markham. Just as most Penn fans who talked all of this sh*t before their fight saying he was going to knock GSP out and all of this, hopefully u will disappear after this fight. If not, I bet u sure to hell won't have anything to say about the fight. Watch and see come March 27th little man. We will see how much that Hardy cock sucker is running then.

Hardy put his "crisp striking" on display against the irish hand grenade who is a former pro boxer, and trains under Mark Dellegrade one of the best striking coaches out their. Im not on Hardys band wagon but he does have a fight against a legit boxer and shined. Just an argument for the other side.

...sorry, Marcus Davis may have 'pro' experience but he is hardly an elite MMA fighter, not even an elite MMA striker, to be honest. Despite that Dan Hardy won a split decision against him... while Thiago Alves couldn't even win a ROUND against a wounded GSP.

Yep. He just has a wrestling game that eclipses All-American champs despite never wrasslin' before MMA - and his coach is the Einstein of MMA, so he doesn't do one thing, or anything predictably - unless you predict success. His take downs overshadow his solid chin and crisp striking but I hope he lets Dan see that side of his game.

Remember GSP has fought the best and NEVER been knocked out or even TKO'd (in the Serra fight he actually rolls over and begins tapping when they stop it - though I admit he was heading for a TKO anyhow).
