Greg Jackson wants nothing to do with Rashad Evans vs. Jon Jones

Moments after Jon Jones defeated Mauricio "Shogun" Rua at UFC 128 to become the new Light Heavyweight Champion, his head coach, Greg Jackson, discussed the fight, as well as news that fellow Jackson's MMA product, Rashad Evans, would be first to challenge "Bones" for the title.  Jackson was noticably emotional upon learning of Evans' plans to leave the camp and says he wants nothing to do with the impending match-up.

    Its pretty intense when Rashad just comes out and say I'm done! and thats it. It makes me think there might be some trash talking and such later on

    Greg pushes his fighters to finish fights? I always imagined him outside the cage yelling, "What are you doing !!! Don't finish the fight, lay on top of him and win the decision !!! If the crowds cheering you're doing it wrong. Haven't I taught you anything !!!)

    Rashad comes across as a type of guy that needs to hate or at least pretend to hate his opponent to be motivated. I think he's just going to do all this trash talk diva stuff than loose to Bones and head back to Jacksons like nothing happened. But who really knows whats going on inside his head.

    This is why Greg JAckson is the best coach in MMA. He has a high moral code which intertwines with his understanding of life and the universe...

    unbelievable. He is a great fighter, albeit conservative, but must be very difficult to work with.

    @Rnev75

    He's not a Diva, how you feel if you had to leave your comfort zone and familiarity with coaches and training partners leading up to a fight with a phenom like Jones. Also it's usually the guys that are unsuccessful that switch from camp to camp not the successful fighter's. People can hate on Rashad all they want but he's only lost 1 fight and fought the best guys at LHW apart from Shogun and Jon Jones which is something a lot of people overlook

    You do realize Jackson is one of the most elite trainers right? He also trains what? 2-3 champs now? he could prob lose 3 Rashad's and still have enough to live comfortable on his pay cheques. To be so loyal to a fighter that u arent going to train his opponent even after u leave the camp shows how good a trainer Jackson actually is.

    You should probably go back to playing with your lego.

    I think Rashad said he wouldn't fight Jones before he became champion because he was hoping Jones wouldn't beat Shogun.

    @newportsb they had an agreement jones and evans both agreed not to fight eachother cause theyre team mates. you can easily turn it around and say jones didnt want to fight rashad because he was scared but everyone just seems to think rashad chose on his own. ive seen jones say he doesnt want to fight rashad in the past. i dont think either of them are scared to fight eachother and itll be a great fight

    Agreed. How can they both strive to be champions, but not face each other in the same division? They need to cut the drama and focus on the fight ahead.

    not being in neither of the fighters corner is a good move from greg...let the fighter chose other coaches for that fight and let the best man win

    Greg is a very smart dude as well as a great trainer and what else do you really expected him to say...if you wanna be a champ again and you have to challenge the champ and gotta nothing to do with brother, just Martial Artist and competition. And the fight really happen between Rashad and Jone will'll be a very big draw event.imo

    well it's probably a good choice for him not to get involved in this. let the both of them train somewhere else for this match up then come back to Jackson when this is all over.
