Greg Jackson expects Carlos Condit vs. Nick Diaz to be "a huge five-round war" at UFC 143

Renowned mixed martial arts trainer, Greg Jackson, discusses the likelihood of Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre making a speedy return from injury, and shares his thoughts on the upcoming 170-pound interim title bout between Carlos Condit and Nick Diaz. Jackson insists that if anyone is capable of making an early return from an ACL injury, it would be GSP, and says he's expecting a "huge five-round war" between Condit and Diaz.

Greg Jackson

"It really is (an interesting fight). Diaz is so tough and he's really turned it on this last year or two. He's looking amazing, and Carlos has too. So, I think it's going to be a real barn-burner with those two guys. They're just both tough as nails and, yeah, I'm expecting a huge five-round war. I'd like it to go short and in our favor, but Nick is so tough, it's going to be a big five-round war."

Huge respect for both fighters and they are both great but I see Condit taking this one in shocking fashion by 2nd or 3rd round TKO. I think a lot of people underestimate Condit, but that kid has the heart of a lion and that counts for a lot. I was amazed at what he did in the WEC as champ, and although Diaz is far beyond any of those fighters, Condit has been super impressive in the UFC so far, beating some real top dogs. I think he will "find a way" to get it done.

I'm almost hoping for Condit to win just because whoever solves the puzzle that Nick Diaz presents it will be so interesting to see how its done.

What Diaz puzzle? He boxes you and uses his face to take punches. The guy with the longer reach and faster jab will win this. Not to mention with explosive and unpredictable take downs and super human strength.

Condit will exchange shot for shot, but will KO Diaz in one of the exchanges. The only man to have a chance to dethrone GSP at this point is Condit. But, it's MMA. Anything can happen. That's why I watch this sport.

yeah Gsp will nullify the strengths of either Diaz or Condit but I think Condit is the harder of the two....Diaz needs to smile a little lol.

I don't see Condit taking Diaz out in the second or third in shocking fasion. If anything it will be the other way around.

How ever this fight ends it will be an exciting war that we witness on Feb. 4th! Jackson seems to know what he is talking about when he says this will be a five round war! The barn will definately burn to the ground with these two going at it inside!!

I like the "toe to toe " style that both of these guys bring to the table. Both willing to bang and not take a willing step back just makes for a good, old fasioned "Slobber-knocker" from bell to bell. Iam hoping to see a five round war myself; with Diaz coming out of there on top of the world- and asking "Where you at Georges?"

I already said the exact same thing, potential fight of the year for sure. I am a huge fan of both fighters but this is not a one sided fight for Diaz by any means. I am gonna go with a risky guess and say its a draw. Hopefully we see a Fight of the year for a legit number one contender.

Gotta be diaz for me, personally think condit is somewhat overrated not saying he's a bad fighter but dont think he's in diaz or gsp class, his recent wins, hyun kim (good prospect but not great, awesome finish though), hardy (im english, so love the guy but very average fighter), rory (showed great heart to comeback but rory lost that fight as much as condit won it, plus showed how gsp would beat condit) and a close decision with ellenberger. Plus would just rather see diaz vs gsp as diaz causes different problems than gsp has faced before, hope im wrong though and it is a 5 round epic!
