Let me tell ya something bud, I was a long time wrestler and Maynard is a BORE. wrestling has NOTHING to do with the guy being a bore!
In this fight like most of his fights, he does practically nothing out of fear of getting caught. He literally walks around and stalls hoping his opponent comes at him in frustration so he can counter. There is nothing wrong with using the counter puncher role as a form in fighting BUT there has to be action and Maynard is ALWAYS reluctant to fight. Always trying for the eeeked out win!
Also, Maynard's personality is terrible. He is dry and dull and when he does try to spice things up it comes across as awkward. Just look at his weird exchange with Hawanni in this clip. He was trying to be funny by making a comparison to Hawanni and Florian it just came off as weird and akward to watch.
...and another thing, I kind of knew the person Maynard was when back in the TUF finals he briefly knocked himself out when he slammed his opponent but went on to cry about how that never happened.
Maynard has skills to be a very exciting fighter. he just doesn't use them.
If this is what we expect to be the future of MMA I am out of here, take down your opponent and controlling him on the ground is not fighting, you can not compared GSP to this guy, GSP can **** you up standing he just choses to take it to ground where ****s you up too or submits you even when he have finish fight lately it is not because he is not trying but just because his last opponents are tough, I mean Hardy almost lost his arm there and Thiago was gettin hurt so bad, I do not even know how Maynard got this tittle shot with a controversial dec against Diaz and a split dec. against Huerta, give him some real JJ guy and let see how that goes...

Let's face it, some fights are visually boring to the fan who is sitting on the sofa drinking a beer and not in the cage working his A** off. To some fans, watching these chess matches are intriguing. Fans who "get it" are either "A" a fighter themselves who understands how difficult fighting like this is, or "B" a more educated fan who can appreciate the more technical matches that are not just flying fists and highlight reel knockouts. We all love to see those, but it's just not the reality of MMA fighting all the time.

I like anyone that can mix in takedowns with their striking and are always active thats why i like the way Edgar GSP and Sonnen fight but Maynard is just terrible. And if GSP is the worst of the list at "LnP" or "being a blanket" then at least we know what hes capable of, he has really good stand up while Maynard just sits back for 4 minutes like a little scared puppy in the 1st round and gets the takedown, then does the same scared awkward thing for 3 minutes in the 2nd, then the 3rd round he did it for 2 minutes.......I hope Frankie floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee again, but this time on Maynard

Kenny did push it, he was chasing him 75% if the time but Florian should have went balls out after the 1st round cuz he knew Maynard was gonna do what he did again. So yes part of the blame is Kenny not just going in there and trying something instead of regretting it later when he did push hard enough. Side note....Maynard sucks =]

This is not the same guy as GSP, Evans, etc. Also, he seems delusional here... He says Florian likes to "move in and out and steal them." What in the hell is he talking about? In his thirteen wins, Kenny has ONE decision victory!! Then Maynard goes on to describe his performance out there as "move off, punch-punch, move off".... This guy is off his meds!! He stood outside and just waited. Thats it. I am not saying this as an excuse for Kenny flopping as usual either. I also agree with capjo, Maynard's attitude in his first fight was very telling. He was obviously knocked out, but even when presented with the replay, which clearly showed he was unconscious, he continued to argue with Rogan and the officials.
i like maynard i think he has good skills and he seems to be a decent guy, but after i seen edgars performance last night i dont think he will win, yeah he beat him before but i dont think edgar is the same fighter
I think Gray is pretty good, and pretty funny. Obviously the fight last night wasn't that entertaining to a lotta people. But I didn't think Frankie's win was as entertaining either. Yeah, both wins are impressive, because of who they are pulling it off against. And yeah, Frankie's win was more impressive, but I do think the bully can beat him again. You gotta be a better wrestler than Frankie, and he handled him last time. Frankie hasn't changed as much as they say. He's great on his feet now but his biggest asset was the survival on the ground. And just barely escaping those bad spots, mount and losing his back. Great win cuz of who he did it too. But I still think Bj can beat almost everyone in the division. And I think Gray will beat Frankie again. It's the styles that will change the fight totally from the fights we saw last night. could be a boring title fight if their wrestling is too evenly matched. But who knows. Could be a real war. I expect Gray to repeat his performance as well.
