Reigning Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre, who will put his belt on the line against former Strikeforce champ Nick Diaz in October, wraps up a hard day of training by sharpening his stand-up skills at the heavy-bag.

"GSP" will look to make his seventh consecutive title defense when he meets "The Stockton Bad Boy" in the headlining bout at UFC 137. Diaz will come into the match-up after having relinquished his Strikeforce 170-pound strap while riding a dominant ten-fight winning streak. Also scheduled for the stacked card is a showdown between top contenders B.J. Penn and Carlos Condit and a Heavyweight clash between Cheick Kongo and Matt Mitrione. Photo: Francis Specker

Looks like he's getting ready to leg kick the shit out of Diaz. Not a bad strategy after seeing the Cyborg fight.

yeah GSP wants to prove a point in this fight think he wants to make a

statement on who is the best ....has been training with Manny and Freddie off and on for over a year now....anyone who has pushed the fight with him made for great fights but also got the best GSP so I think

if Daiz keeps coming forward like he does will be a great fight but have a feeling it will look like Nates last fight

I believe the first round or two GSP will look good standing but after that Diaz will be annialating the stand up and if it goes to the ground I believe Diaz will have an easy sub, Cyborg was a black belt and look what happened to him within seconds.

we all know GSP isnt going to want to keep this standing.

(although you could be right mousasi that he may incorporate some leg kicks to help wear Diaz down coming to the championship rounds)

well when it comes to movement wear Diaz down, cardio wise i dont think GSP can wear him down there, Diaz is a cardio machine and always stays composed

I dont know his boxing is really good now.., Kos had a fractured

orbital from the jabs he threw that nite if Nick comes forward with

out any movement side to side think its going to be a few jabs and leg

kicks and after a bit he will throw one to the head and KO that is

my bet KOed by head kick..lolif there is a site were I can make that bet

    KO by head kick

if you are really serious about betting, sportsbook.com is pretty legit, you can pick by what round you think it will be finished, but not "head kick" KO or anything like that

Notice zero cameos from Diaz. He is training hard I guarantee. We won't see much of him either. George is insane and a terrific fighter but he is stiff as hell. I can't wait to see this go down c

@corey - you obviously haven't been watching the sport very long have you or you would know a bit more about Nick Diaz and not so quick to write him off, you certainly don't know a lot if you think Anthony Johnson would give GSP a better fight than Diaz....lol....

That's pretty funny. Diaz has the best chance to beat gsp decisively than any other welter weight. He will beat Many many top welterweights and will only loose by fights close enough to be draws.

Every ufc fights (5 years ago) was close enough to be draws. If you listen to the comentary from those fights from rogan, or shamrock they honestly don't know who the winner was. He stuffed all but 2 off Shawn sherks takedowns and got up or reversed every takedown Sanchez threw as well as beat him in the face from the guard.

I am not saying he will win but everyone has completly overexagerated Diaz having a hard time with wrestlers.

He has a hard time because wrestlers point fight. But judges don't understand bjj or ground fighting at all for that matter. I guarantee you he has evolved a lot since then.

Agreed bro. I feel like alot of people on here are typical Sherdog Fight Finder or Wikipedia MMA record MMA fans, atleast when it comes to older fights. If you watch Diazs fights in the UFC, you see that all the good wreslters he faced either had a hard time taking him down or keeping him down, or both. That being said, I wouldn't mind seeing Diaz trying to time a leg kick for a takedown and getting top position. People need to see past the fact Diaz is not a big strong explosive athlete, and learn to appreciate that he is an extremely technical one. It's possible he gets taken down and elbowed relentlessly by GSP, but I see a competitive fight. Diaz by 5th round Gogoplata! Lol.

Diaz vs Conduit, Enough said. Now that would be a great fight. Against GSP tho? I think GSP is too fast in the striking and too dominant a wrestler for Diaz. Sadly I can see Diaz crying after his loss and running to go call out more semi retired boxers

This is for sure GSP will bring in something new to the table he might go back to his Karate background or take Diaz down and ground pound for a bit then get back up and keep repeating the process. What ever the plan is it's going to be a skillful and tactical fight.

I'm not sure why GSP is even working on his leg kicks for his fight against Nick because we already know what his true "game plan" is going to be. Furthermore, we can all expect to see another "technical" five round decision win for Mr George Safe-Pierre if he does win.

Round one - GSP will take Nick down, he will lay on top of him throughout the entire round and will somehow avoid getting subbed by Nick.

Round two - GSP will take Nick down, he will lay on top of him throughout the entire second round and will somehow once again avoid getting subbed by Nick.

Round three - Unfortunately for Mr St Pierre, the third round will not go as planned due to the fact that he will get caught in a beautiful triangle choke.

@UnderdogGreatness - Brilliant....that made me laugh out loud....literally.....it's the sherdog fight finder fans that are giving Diaz "no chance" people not familiar with his career, his early run in the UFC, his pride fights etc etc. I hope it goes exactly as you wrote it....lol...

It's really good to know that I'm not the only who really believe that Diaz has a great chance at beating GSP. To be honest with you, I see GSP either getting picked apart on his feet if he somehow decides to keep the fight standing, which is a huge - IF - or he will get subbed if he takes Nick Diaz down. That's just my opinion.

I think Diaz is a dangerous opponent but I also think GSP is really going to be in a mode of defense that throws uncommitted offense here and there for points. I think GSP will spend most of the fight protecting himself nervously from everything that looks like an offensive move and will win via decision on points here and there. Diaz will be focusing on how to finish GSP with no plan for a decision while GSP will plan for a decision win while looking for a giftwrapped finish.

I'm pulling for Diaz. And I am hoping for a finish. For one, I think Nick will be a helluva lot better champ from an entertainment standpoint. Lets face it, GSP for all of his greatness is a bit bland. Not that I fault him for being dedicated to his craft and not playing the smack-talk game. But the smack talk is a part of this game and at the end of the day the fight biz is entertainment. Diaz will provide that in spades I'm sure. It will also throw GSP back into the mix and pit him against guys we normally would not of seen him fight while Dian fights the best of the UFC ww's. And if GSP does win, I hope for his sake he makes a serious statement and just shatters Diaz. Nick will come to fight, so I hope GSP does too and doesnt play the point game.

If your watching MMA for the smack talk aspect, maybe you should go back to the WWE. MMA has a respect factor that some dont take into account. The Chael Sonnens and the Tito ORtiz's or a Diaz camp post fight brawl while it may be entertaining, do you really see that kind of stuff helping the image of the sport that is already posed as still barbaric to some. Id rather have respectful Champions like GSP, Velasquez and Frankie Edgar than some "Stockton" bad boy, Im so gangsta punk.

When it comes to the fights, ya i hope they are entertaining, but you dont always need finishes for it to be entertaining. Every time I watch GSP or Silva, or Penn or Edgar, I always pick up a new move to learn and use, regardless if they finish their opponent or not. To me thats interesting

i'm sorry but i actually want a champion who i can understand in interviews.not someone who bables on incoherently.and more importantly i don't think nick diaz deserves to be champ he shows no respect for the sport or the people he is fighting.yeh i get people talk trash up until the fight.but diaz is so disrespectful that he never stops talking shit, even during the fight he is running his mouth instead of trying to impose his will.GSP is a respectable champion and i hope he beats nick diaz..

and BRING ON THE WEAKS, I KNOW THEY ARE COMING..

i think this will be the toughest fight for GSP. it will be a 50-50 for me. but if i have to give a prediction i will say GSP tko doctor stopage. diaz has big scar tissue problems and i think GSP will be able to ground and pound him with big elbows and make a real big cut.

Interesting point of view. GSP is definetly game enough or at least Jackson is to see that opportunity.

To say Diaz has no chance in this fight is just so obviously biased. Nick Diaz has been around along time now and has a lot of experience in the big fights, he is one of those fighters that are VERY hard to finish but that applies to GSP too. IMO Diaz will have the edge on the feet purely because he can take a shot and has a solid chin, he is also very accurate and throws multiple combos. He is also truly comfortable wherever the fight goes and even if GSP does take him down Diaz has a very active guard and will be looking for submissions all the time. Look at the Cyborg Santos fight, Cyborg loves to strike also even though he too is a ju jitsu black belt (similar to Diaz actually) Cyborg was losing the striking battle and as soon as he took Diaz down Diaz caught him in an armbar with seconds left in the round. IMO Diaz has a good chance of pulling off the victory, GSP is as talented as they come but is known for not finishing fights so i doubt he'll be able to finish Diaz, Diaz is definately a legitamate contender for that belt, for people to say he isn't means they're obviously biased GSP fans or they haven't been watching the sport very long and don't know much about Diaz.....i smell a changing of the guard....lol.....: )

I'd say gsp wins in his usual clever, strategic (boring) manner. either by decision or by stoppage due to cuts under nicks eyebrows...
