Georges St. Pierre remains open to fighting Nick Diaz

The one thing that UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre seemed to want more than anything else on Saturday night was to see Nick Diaz stand in the center of the Octagon with his hand raised in victory. In the days leading up to the event, St. Pierre made it clear that he wanted to face Diaz in his next bout, however that opportunity was denied him by a Carlos Condit victory.

There were many fans that also wanted to see St. Pierre meet Diaz and while that fight may not happen as soon as St. Pierre would have liked, it is still a possibility as St. Pierre tweeted that he would still like to face Diaz, "I still hope to meet Nick Diaz in the Octagon one day."

At this point St. Pierre is rehabbing from knee surgery and Diaz exists in limbo, with the question of whether or not he “really” retired hanging in the air following Saturday’s announcement that he didn’t “need this s---.”

When St. Pierre returns his most likely opponent will be Condit, barring a title defense and loss by Condit. With that in mind it could be quite some time before St. Pierre and Diaz could ever meet.

What do you think LowKick’ers, will this fight ever come to fruition and will it be worth the wait?

Before I see Diaz fight GSP, I want to see him fight a top wrestler in the WW division.

I wanna see the good looking GSP Punshing the badboy face of Diaz .

If condit wins the rematch against Diaz, Maybe GSP should take Diaz first as a warm-up fight to get an easy win via G'n'P stoppage , then , get HIS belt back from Condit.

If GSP won't be able to fight until November, my guess is that the NBK will fight again, in June or July. Probably a rematch vs Ellenberger, assuming he beats Diego.

But regardless of who wins the belt, I think Diaz needs only one win over a top contender (Fitch or Koshcek) to get another shot at the title.

    I think Diaz is

i respect gsp for that cause he knows who the tougher challenge is. it's not just anger for diaz. he's needed a real challenge for a long time and he knows diaz is the guy. with all due respect to our new interim champ, we all know diaz is the number 1 guy. carlos condit went from a knockout artist to fighting like whoose. he had no intentions of finishing that fight. just escaping. i can't respect that.

Carlos Condit was the better fighter in every way at UFC 143. Fans like yourself are both a hindrance and embarrassment to the sport.

    Don't be such a "whoosy"

actually no jackasses like you are. if you want nothing but finishes go watch a bar brawl. MMA IS A SPORT! it's about being the BETTER and SMARTER fighter. doesn't take a lot of brains to bitch slap someone and talk shit hoping to take them out of their gameplan. CONDIT is the better FIGHTER

Diaz has to evolve as a fighter, and also needs the fans to evolve a little bit as well.

Basically what the Diaz fans are saying is that if you don't stand and bang with Diaz on the fence, then you are a marathon running p.u.s.s.i.e!!!!!

Pepole don't jump guard Damian Maia, Werdum or the Noguieras either. Why because it plays right into their strenghts...

Diaz needs to learn how change his gameplan when it doesn't work, get better at cutting people off and get the takedowns he needs when shit doesn't work out. Thats just the simple facts, or he will lose again and again.

Yes, Diaz needs to learn how to wrestle and be good in that situations, that's really true. But things which Condit did is almost whole time hit and run...hit and run...that's what irritating many ufc fans. I expected more from Condit, even he won the fight.

    P.S. Condit: "It's gonna be war" x100...

Its Nick's fault he lost I give ya that. He should have felt urgency earlier than towards the end of the fifth. He got his takedown way late.

I have a good feeling Diaz will pull a Shogun in his second match and end it early by submission. Use his boxing and foot work to tire his opponent and then push extra hard for his takedown. He took Carlos's back so fast and body triangled him faster than I realized what had happened. Then hes working a rear naked choke and switching back and forth to an a kamura.. We'll see if he starts using his ground game more and setting up takedowns better.

Agreed. Nick is good enough to beat Condit half the time IMO. We'll chat again before the third fight

it honestly doesn't matter who won that fight (even though diaz did) because once gsp is back they would get destroyed, simply put i don't think there is anyone in the WW division that can dethrone this guy especially not condit after watching how he fought against diaz, i say throw hendricks in there with him and hope he can do it again! btw is it just me or does hendricks seem like the modern version of leonidas?

Its a long lay off and to GSP, a let down to fight Condit. It remains to be seen if he can get back physically and psychologically to the GSP of old. That explosive double leg must be one of the first things to go as you age.

It has to be a Huge let down to GSP that Nick did not win. It meant a huge payday and a sure sell out. Condit is legit but somehow does not have the pedigree that Diaz has and at this point in there respective careers, it's about the money and the future

I am sure that Diaz will reconsider but the UFC will have to up the ante.

I would love to see Carlos fight again and defend to legitimize his status and Nick to have a dominating comeback fight to re energize the debate.

BUT as it stands now Condit VS. GSP is the order of the day! Get over it already!

Just to put it into perspective in big money fight terms. Manny Pacquiao has fought. Oscar Dela Hoya, Marquez ( twice), Antonio Margorito, Ricky Hatton, Joshua Clottey, Shane Moseley, and is now slated to fight Timothy Bradley instead of Floyd Mayweather JR.

Fights get made or they do not get made. Its not always what the public wants but what deals can be made. Agents and managers get in the way more than most of the public will ever know. Quit trying to dictate your personal agenda, although we all have a voice and enjoy what fights can be made!

GSP is actually pretty cool. He gets a lot of crap, but he takes it in stride and keeps winning. If GSP isnt 100 percent as the guys mentioned above there is a good chance he'll lose it to Carlos or God forbid re injure.
