Kos didn't do terribly in their first fight even getting GSP on his back a few. I think GSP will win but I know that feeling you are talking about. After a champ has been champ for a long time like AS, you start feeling they are not going to be fully ready for their next fight for some reason wether it be to much confidence and not enough practical training for their oponent. It seems too much success sometimes leads to comfort zones in fighting and then someone finally challenges the comfort zone and we get an upset.
Will be great. I think the Jackson camp, and GSP himself, we be under some pressure to finish this fight. That's a good thing.
Anyone notice that in the TUF fight last night GSP told Johnson before the third round to "take 'm down and lean on 'm"? Not what I wanted to hear especially since he was holding his own standing up. Would like to have at least heard "take 'm down and submit 'm." Oh well.
falcon4917 I think your right although I'm a big fan of GSP but he has been a champion for a long time now and he has beaten Koscheck and might be in danger of taking him lightly which would be a huge mistake. I just hope that the feeling of Serra beating him still lingers in his head so he (GSP) stay focus in the task at hand. It's going to be a great fight..
GSP doesn't underestimate anyone he always shows up in shape and ready for a fight, and will dictate the pace of the fight! I'd love to see Georges KO douchcheck so all the haters can stop hatin.... GSP's been training with Fredy Roach for this one.... expect to see some fluent stand up.... Koscheck's chin will be nicely wrapped up under Georges Christmas tree this year..... get in the festive spirit lads :)
I was thinking he looked pretty huge too. He's also been muscular to look at him from the front but from the side he was always very thin. Now if you look at him from the side he's getting quite a lot thicker, I can't see him being able to stay at 170 the rest of his career unless he changes his diet/work out routine.
GSP loss to Hughes taught his that everyone loses, sometime. His loss to Serra, taught him that you have to take every opponent seriously. In respect to this fight, the second lesson will be / is the one most important to GSP and the one that he will never and has never, forgotten.
I have no doubt - that George is taking JK very seriously. He knows he's a powerful guy, with great wrestling, heavy (loopy) hands, can throw a kick and probably has enough cardio to hang with George; at least into the fourth, at any rate. The problem for Koscheck is, that his skill set is dwarfed by The Champ's.
For those GSP fans that worry about a repeat of the Matt Serra fight, don't. His fight against Thiago Alves put those fears to rest - IMO. If TA couldn't hurt or touch the champ, then Koscheck hasn't a hope in hell. Alves is a tremendous stand-up fighter and Rush easily handled him and did so with a groin injury. Koscheck is no Thiago Alves.
Koscheck game plan - don't be shocked if, after standing with George for a few minutes and being completely out classed, that Kos reverts back to being (simply) a wrestler and ends up (just) trying to take GSP down; to no avail and no success.
The Champ will win and he will retain his belt. The only question for me is, can he GSP knock him out or TKO him? Freddie Roach says, "yes"; by way of left hook. I think FR is going to be proven right.
Honestly the only time I think I've seen Kos use his wrestling that I can remember is against Daley, a little aginst GSP the first time, and maybe against Diego back in the day. After the Daley fight, I was pretty impressed with how Paul did in terms of defending take downs and avoiding damage on the ground. Then I watched Daleys fight with Masivadal and saw that a guy who lacked athleticism, explosiveness, and wrestling could take him down pretty easily.
I think the biggest factor in this fight is simply going to be size and strength. I don't know what weight Kos walks around at, and I'm sure he is alot stronger than he looks, but I bet he could make LW. I think he has a faster and more explosive shot than GSP, but when they clinch up I think GSP will man handle him, and when he gets on top of Kos it will be very hard for Kos to get off his back. GSP has gotten alot bigger and stronger since they last fought, and I don't know if Kos has.
Why oh why were you weaked, thats as obvious as ants are many. Kos is smaller in every photo I have seen of them. Kos will unlikely win this fight being that GSP is not only better in my opinion but quite a bit bigger too.
Lol Yea, i mean its the most obvious advantage for sure. GSP made big WW's like fitch, hardy and alves look weak. He man handled fitch, who man handled alves, who man handled Kos. MMA math doesn't always work like that but anyway you look at it, it looks good for GSP. Fitch said he'd move up to MW if Kos won, probably because he knows Kos has no chance in hell at winning lol.
If you watched the TUF 12 series you will see that Team Koscheck has been out matched, out coached and out classed. This fight will show that no one in the WW division is anywhere close to being able to beat St. Pierre.
Of course if it were a contest based on Baseball, I might give Koscheck a chance :-)

I think GSP is going to out wrestle and out strike Kos and win, don't see him losing anytime soon
probably right.

GSP win..2nd round..
This guy is sharp and focus, who ever counts him out, and talk trash about ring rust, much understand, this guy didn't make it this far by accident...
**** GSP is getting huge i say he moves up in weight by late 2011 early 2012 theres no way he can stay at 170 the way hes gaining weight

Not just that, Kos has zero chance of being big enough for MW unlike Fitch, Alves and GSP.
I think whats gonna happen is Georges is going to do exactly what he said... "TAKE HIM OUT"!!!!
Nighty Night Josh!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
