Georges St. Pierre confident that he will finish Carlos Condit
Posted on October 12, 2011, 10:12 PM by Trent ReinsmithGeorges St-Pierre will defend his UFC Welterweight Championship against Carlos Condit on October 29 at UFC 137. St-Pierre has not lost April 2007, when he fell to Matt Serra, who entered the fight as a huge underdog. Since that time he has run off nine straight victories.
Condit’s last loss was his UFC debut, a split decision loss to Martin Kampmann on April 1, 2009, since then he has won four straight. Throughout his career Condit has ended 26 of his 27 victories by stoppage.
St-Pierre is confident that he has the game plan to defeat Condit and defend his title for the 8th consecutive time when the two fighters meet at the sold out Mandalay Bay Events Center. Said St-Pierre, “I have a gameplan to take care of Carlos and I will execute it. He’s not my friend and I don’t put any emotion in but I believe I will have the key to victory. I do believe I will be able to knock him out or submit him. I will remain the welterweight champion.”

Yes, you will finish him, Georges Safe-Pierre.
i hope GSP finishes him hes such a dominant fighter and if he took more risks he could do it .... his sriking i think is better than condits technically at least, and his ground game is defs better so he could get a sub or a knockout
Well, he won't be following a Greg Jackson gameplan, so maybe we will see a finish...
oh please u know he has an invisible greg jackson floating around in the mist whispering sweet nothings to him.
no but really., let's hope he really does come out aggressive this time.. in the jake shields fight, he was throwing an ugly overhand right, but, he did have bad intentions rather than just jabbing his way to victory. He's best off kicking, condit most likely wont try to take him down, and he better watch the timing on his shots or he could eat a knee, condit has good timing. Cant wait, but GSP via decision, or surprising as hell finish and everyone will be happy. again.
Practise every morning: 15 minute attempts to finish a bowl of cereal :D On a serious note, I would love to see GSP finish an apponent. Should be quite a fight!
Hell I'm surprised he finished the interview
^ HAH!
by finish do you mean you will win a unanimous decision
"I will remain the welterweight champion" Ofc you wil you wil dry hump him for 5 rounds ! btw guys when this fights happens dont forget to bring a pillow and a good cup of coffee els you wil fall in sleep !
whats the pillow for then?
LOL.
Dont think so m8, infact I'm picking condit to win this one
we've heard it all before george you were gonna finish koscheck and hardy too. GSP by UD as usual
Sonnen finished his fight. Now GSP plans to finish his, whats next Fitch?
Fitch always tries though man, constant rear-naked choke attempts in most of his UD wins.
The only chokes Fitch does is he chokes on building up the confidence to attempt a finish.
deff not fitch ^ that dude cant even finish ah decision anymore .
George has to step it up and engage with his opponent , to finish anyone. No one plays it safer than GSP, and I do believe it's Condit's time. GSP's gameplans consist of either striking, or wrestling his opponent, nothing more than that.
Never happen.... love GSP but he is the King of decisions, and Fitch is the Queen......
im not saying it wont happen its mma anything can happen but didnt he call to finish his last couple fights??
Condit lost to Kampman, but he's gonna beat GSP....????!!!
Y'all are delusional!!
@rickjitsu
MMA math doesnt work like that...
GSP hasn't finished a fight since he finished BJ Penn--his last four fights have been decisions.
1. Thiago Alves -- GSP beat Alves decisively, knocking him down, taking him down, and beating him in the standup. Alves was pretty beat up after the fight. There is no doubt GSP tried hard to finish Alves--especially with RNC's, but Alves is so freakishly strong and nearly 200 pounds on fight day, that GSP could not hold him.
2. St-Pierre vs. Hardy - Although GSP dominated--he tried too hard for the submission and did not GnP enough, so Hardy walked away fairly unscathed. Hardy had zero ground game--except basic survival. GSP probably could have snapped his arm with a Kimura--but he let it go when Hardy refused to tap. Hardy was never in this fight, and when the fight was standing--Hardy did not bring it to the champ.
3. St-Pierre vs. Koscheck II - This fight probably should have been stopped in hindsight, after learning of Koscheck's long recuperation from a shattered orbital bone. This was another dominant performance. Probably due to his eye injury, Koscheck concentrated on defending the takedown, and only firing one looping right, then retreating--he also did not bring it to the champ--he was just trying to survive for the last 4 rounds.
4. St-Pierre vs. Shields - GSP was looking great until he got his eye poked by an open handed slap of Shields. It is amazing GSP ended Shields' long winning streak despite being blind in one eye. GSP was having success with an uncharacteristic looping right hand until his depth perception went. Shields also did not bring it to the champ--despite the champ being blind in one eye. Shields, a renowned wreslter, never took GSP down once.
I saw all of GSP's fights, and never once did I see any lay-and-pray or dry-humping as the ignorant fans claim. Always he tries to improve his position, always he tries to finish. Sometimes a finish comes, and sometimes it does not.
I think there is no doubt that if you are on top for a while--fickle fans look for any reason to diminish your accomplishments and make a demon out of you. On the flip side, there are always fans who want to make an MMA god out of you.
I am looking forward to this fight, and I am certain GSP will be going for the finish--and I would love to see a finish (either way)--but if it does not happen, so what? As long as it is a great fight.
I agree and i Know he has the capability of finishing any of his opponents. But you can tell he plays it safe and doesn't seem to go for it or a killer instinct. I hope he can start to let go of the safe side and finish the fight more often. I understand your not always going to stop the other guy but could of definitely finished more fights then he has. Still a fan none the less.
Nicely done.
The problem lies in the point his opponent is 80% finished for him and he still doesn't gather his nuts together to do the next 20%. Instead he points out another 5% out of them.
I honestly think George might lose this one, Condit is pretty good.
