Georges St. Pierre: I'm not afraid to go to the ground with Jake ShieldsPosted on April 5, 2011, 03:18 AM by Joey Santosus
Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre, who will put his title on the line when he meets Jake Shields at UFC 129, discusses his opponent, as well as his gameplan for the bout. St. Pierre considers Shields the best jiu-jitsu practitioner in the promotion, but insists he is not afraid to go to the ground with him. "GSP" also talks about the Cesar Gracie trained fighter's impressive win streak, and though he considers Shields "the guy to beat," he says fighting for the UFC title is a different game.
UFC 129 is set to take place April 30th from the sold-out Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The Welterweight title clash between St. Pierre and Shields will headline, while Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo will make his promotional debut against Mark Hominick in the co-main event.
