Oh... Now he wants to grapple! Lol, in all seriousness tho, Gonzaga is a talented fighter and its to bad that his gameplans as of late have been a bit questionable to say the least. Hopefully he rebounds with another promotion... I think he would make a great addition to Strikeforce's Heavyweight division.

I think Gonzaga just doesn't have it in him anymore.

yea he still got it in him. if it came down to it. i think he could beat werdum. the grappling is equal and the striking is close but i think gonzaga would win.. he would first have to get through and andrei arlovski or shane del rasrio i dont think hes ready for the elite of strikeforce coming off that loss. but with time he'll get better and avenge his losses to werdum.

I agree w JS. That would give SF so depth and fedor someone else to fight instead of the other 3.

Gonzaga wants to fight only if the pay is right, SF pays so bad so I doubt he'll sign with them and even if he does he'll get KO'd by Overeem, Fedor, Barnett and Werdum and if he fights Big Foot he'll lose that one to, only person he can beat is Arlosvski

What are you talking about? Werdum got much more to fight Fedor than Carwin did to fight Lesnar, and Carwin was a UFC champ. Fedor/Werdum wasn't even a title fight. Gonzaga probably wouldn't get offered a big contract, he is coming off 2 losses and looked terrible last time.

Arlovski would knock him out, sure he coming off 3 losses but he only 31 and both these guys still have it in them, I think he could submit Barnett and Big Foot but I think Big Foot would win a stand up battle

Brendan Schaubb just made him look like an amateur and ur talking about him fighting Fedor? if he gets his head back in the fights he'd be a serious force in Strikeforce no chance for a belt though

Ya think about it. If GG beats Werdum then krocker will not hesitate to put him against fedar. Easy

@youknow. i cant see that theory at all. chances of gonzaga beating werdum now, after he lost in both of their previous fights is very slim, and in his last loss to werdum he was a better fighter than he is now. He was made to look very average against brendan. I dont think his desire to fight is there. it seems more of a mental thing so to put him in against the guy who just beat fedor. BAD IDEA

He makes me laugh. he will only fight if he gets big money, like he did from the ufc. He wont fight for any organization paying him small fees. How long does he want to ride on the victory over cro cop, great knockout but a long time ago now. Since 2008 he has lost every fight when faced decent opposition and had victories over fighters that are small names in the ufc. It seemed every time he lost the ufc would build him up with a nobody to get him winning again, then he would lose again against someone decent. Here are the facts. -lost to werdum then 2 wins against mccully, hendrick(have we seen them recently?) then has a loss to carwin. then beats tuscherer(dont even know how to spell his name he is such a small name, then has losses to santos and schaub. And he thinks he deserves big money still, come on gonzaga.

GG has already been smashed by Werdum twice!

Why would he deserve a fight against him right off the bat?

Agreed, Gonzaga always tended to fight the other guys fight, even in his wins. He is capable of submitting almost any heavyweight out there but just liked to bang.

Thats true, that way of fighting worked out for him once against Cro Cop and he basically thought he can do that against anyone...standing with strikers like Dos Santos is just stupid espeically when you are a world class grappler, he would have been way more successful if he used his stand up to set up takedowns and sub people

Gonzaga vs Cormier in Strikeforce would be a good test for both fighters.

In Gabe's defense - How does he get let go after 2 straight losses?

Bonnar loses 3 in a row and is still there. Sanchez, Griffin, Vera etc.. all lost 2 in a row and are still there.

Wanderlei Silva lost 3 in a row then beat Keith Jardine and then lost another 2 in a row - still there.

Before Napao's 2 straight losses he won 3 out of 4.

He should move to another training camp and build a new MMA strategy.

    Size only does not matter.

If Strikeforce did pick him up, he could fight Sergei or Arlovski. I wouldn't pick Gonzaga to win either of those after his last fight.

It's not that hes lost it, its just hes not a kickboxer. He needs to go back to his world class BJJ skills

Knocking out Cro Cop was the worst decision in Gonzaga's career. He totally overestimated his own striking ability.

....Did he get cut? Thats stupid. He went 2 straight losses then got 5 in a row for wins. Chuck and Wandy got 4 in a row for losses and are still in the UFC.
