I use to hate it when GSP fought, not meaning recentlybut when all he did was throw a jab then LnP for the next 4:50 secs of a round. But now i undertand that i have to respect that, when George can keep a grown man on his back nearly 5 minutes consistently then hell y wudnt he do that. Its all about winning, his fans will enjoy the fight wether its on the ground or standing up. i do hope they have a well rounded fight, but hey if GSP or Jake decide to turn it into a wrestlin match then what can i do about it.

Fact is the striking will be short lived, either Jake takes GSP down while dealing with his strikes or GSP will end on top of him. Either way, Shields has the most dangerous submissions out of anyone, and a hell of a chin. This won't be one sided at all, it's actually a pretty fvcking serious fight. Deal with it.

People don't realize that if this fight goes to the ground, it's gonna be ****ing great! Both of them have high level BJJ and wrestling. While GSP may have the edge in skill, he hasn't faced the style that Shields possesses. Can't wait to see GSP's game plan unfold in this fight and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what Shields can bring to the table. I know there hasn't been enough time to dramatically impact his game, but I wonder how Jake's stand up has improved since his trip to Thailand?
Cudos to Shields trying to work his striking skills especially trying to counter Gsp's Karate by training muay thai but the problem I see with that is he's hoping to try to get into the clinch with Gsp which all I see is Gsp's jab from hell followed by a take down coming. Should be interesting to see how Shields is going to utilize his new found muay thai I really don't see him getting in close with Gsp.
That has always been my take on it... I enjoy watching all different styles of fights. They each offer their own entertainment value for different reasons. With GSP vs. Shields, who knows exactly how it will play out, but seeing those two on the mat would definitely be interesting. Obviously those type of fights are more slow and methodical, rather than fast paced and violent, but what a technical battle it would be : )
I honestly think Gsp can finish anyone. He's really strong. I'm hoping for a finish also but I enjoy watching his tatical game plans he brings to each match. I think it's great. When he goes for a take down it impresses me to see how his jits is so improving each fight. Which lots of people don't give him credit for. He may not finish with the subs but, his transition is sick as hell. His passes when he sets up from guard to half guard than to side control with ease. I think it's amazing to watch.
i can understand why some people dislike gsp but i cant agree with it mma cant all be wild brawls a ko or subs. gsp is a cerebral fighter and his technical superiority over his opponents is amazing to watch. really there is no other fighter like him he finds each fighters weaknesses and exploits the while shutting down their strengths. if you look at the level and diversity of his opponents it is really quite amazing what he has accomplished.
Why are there so many idiot so called fans around? GSP is an awesome exciting fighter and arguably p4p best in the world and one of the smartest fighters in the game. Any true MMA fans wants to see skill and application of technique and control amongst other things and GSP does that better than no other though Jon Jones may soon be giving him some competition as far as control goes.
The only problem I c with gsp is that he's so good but is too cautious about closing that belt so that he dnt take n e risk.. he can finish every fight if he wanted 2.. he cld of finished kos n if n e body on here argues that then their outa theur mind.. I like gsp but just wish he'd finish the fight like he promises to do.. the old gsp finished fights..
