i agree. theyre giving too much credit to gsp striking. kos was the last one to get a (good) takedown on gsp, so we might see kos do a lay n pray on gsp.

on the feet i dont think gsp will win. and if he is successful, it wont save him from the double leg. if kos doesnt out grapple him, he will knock him senseless.

(i also have this theory that every champion will lose his belt this year. first machida, then penn. i think chael sonnen did enough to prove that he is no. 1, and i think we're gonna see cain ko brock. then obviously kos is gonna take the ww belt.) if that is not the case, then the 2 remaining champs will not win easily

GSP is the most dominant champion in the sport. You can never say he won't be beat, but he will never ever be dominated in a fight. Worst case scenario he gets caught (ko or sub) but then wins the immediate rematch. He is the best athlete in the sport by far and one of the best in the world regardless of the sport.

Kos will be the one trying to take it to the nground. are u kidding? GSP has much better striking in my opinion in terms of precision and speed, Kos does have power tho but id give it to GSP if it stays standing

i agree i think kos is just a wild striker with some ko power but i dont think he can catch gsp with that and gsp striking seems more crisp and dont forget we havent seen him fight since he was trining his hands with freddy roach so he might surprise us, and when it come to the ground game i think there is where it might be more evenly match but we'll have to wait and see

i hope st. pierre beats kos but pierre isnt a finisher anymore, all he will do is wrestle him down all 5 rounds show he the superior grappler and kos will prolly stopp running his mouth.

He is not a finisher all of the sudden? Its interesting to me when ppl say that. Just because his last two fights were against strikers? Why stand with guys who have zero ground game? Even so, he still tried to finish! Look at his last fight with Hardy! He was trying like hell to break his arm off! If it weren't for incorrect positioning that fight would have ended by submission...

BJ Penn couldn't hurt him on the ground...Thiago Alves couldn't touch GSP, on his feet. Those two fighters would be the best ground and stand-up fighters Rush has faced. Put their relative skill levels in a blender and compare them to Koscheck's...and this is what you get for JK's chances @ victory (IMO).

    On the ground - 0%

    Standing - 10%

Remember though that neither of those fighters carry the pace of Koscheck and that is why GSP had a decent amount of trouble with Kos in their first fight. Koscheck is not very likable but he is definetly for real. This is not a normal feeding time for GSP, this meal will be hard worked for.

I agree with jack89 more so than wingchun in that I see GSP being dominant in this fight. But I do not at all see it as 0% chance on the ground and 10% standing for Kos. I see it maybe 25-30% chance for Kos on the ground and quite possibly 50-55% on the feet. Both these guys seem to excell in all areas but GSP for some reason with a striking background is a very good wrestler and Kos with a wrestling background is a very good striker. GSP will more than likely dominate the ground although not in the same way he does with others and Kos will probably have a slight edge on his feet as he has proved to be very fast and hard hitting and very good at mixing it up. It's like they both missed their respective callings when they started to train and are now getting revelation. I would say though that GSP's wrestling is more dominant than Koschecks slight edge in standup and this will be the factor. I am not saying GSP has bad standup either( I think he is good at stand up) but I feel Kos has found a new toy in his arsenal and he is doing quite well with it against all but the very best of seasoned strikers. GSP for the win and Kos for a loss but I sense it will be a tough win for GSP.

We've all remember his recent history more than his distant history thats all. GSP says he always tries to finish and now the competition is too hard to finish or at least has been thus far in recent fights. Hopefully he can change that image by a few finishes soon.

I see his last memorable finish being against serra which was 5 fights ago. Corner stoppages piss me off as most agree that BJ's corner is a waste of space. He has had 2 finishes in the last 7 fights and I don't think he'll finish koscheck as although he will beat kos he won't have a significant enough advantage to finish the fight. Lots of fighters who win their fights can't remember the fight so i don't think BJ's beating was the reason for that. If GSP doesn't finish Kos it will be creaping up on 3 years for a finish for GSP too. Fitch is getting long in the tooth for sure but his last fight he showed some decent standup against Alves which was interesting to watch. GSP barely tries that mode any more and it's not good if Fitch is pushing the action more than you.

I agree with Crippla 100%. BJ didn't come out for the 5th, so how isn't that a finish is beyond me. If Penn would have cme out in the 5th round, his career would have probably ended. If u go back and watch the fight, BJ's spirit was crushed standing in that corner after the 4th round. They kept asking him if he wanted to continue, and the look in his eyes was begging for his corner to throw in the towel. I don't blame that on his corner.

In his fight with Hardy, he about ripped his arm off 2 times, and 95% of ufc fighters would have tapped out to either one of the subs.

I don't understand how some people think that what GSP does is lay and pray? He is always improving his position, throwing elbows or punches, or he is trying to go for submissions. I haven't heard a ref tell him to work or they would stand the fight back up in I don't know how long. How do u define what he does as lay and pray? If u want to see someone lay and pray, go watch Kos vs. Daley or any of Jon Fitch's past few fights. Just because someone is fighting on the ground doesn't mean they are laying and praying. He tries to finish fights. End of story. If u dont believe me, go watch some of his past few fights that some of u claim he is laying and praying in and watch how much he tries to work to improve his position. The only time he isn't working is when he is getting instructions from his corner.

    ...well, said. I agree 100%

And I'll say this - in terms of ground fighting, GSP is the best ground fighter in the world (P4P). He is an outstanding wrestler, BJJ practitioner, is impossible to keep on his back or on the ground, has cardio to go and is brutally strong. Those six things are what you need to be dominant on the ground and GSP has them in spades. I will say this - no one beats GSP on the ground @ 170; certainly not Koscheck, who is the very definition of lay 'n pray; with the exception of his victory of Anthony Johnson.

...agreed, again. However, I hope he closes it on the ground, not standing. Kos has made a big deal about his wrestling and stand-up, I say....GSP should make an example of JK (a dominant wrestler) and take him down and kick the crap out of him. That's the show I want to see; GSP can show me his new stand-up in his next bout, but in this one, I want him to hand Koscheck his head - on the ground.

It would be fitting; apropos, even.

Both are improved since the last time they met, but GSP wins this standing or on the ground.

Kos will probably not make it to the 5th round as i expect GSP to finish him this time. Kinda like he finished Penn 2nd time, and Rua finished Machida 2nd time.
