Frankie Edgar gives his thoughts on his first title defence against the former champ BJ Penn

Penn should have moved up a weight after losing the belt! He has already proved he is the best lightweight in the world and has no reason to go back and challenge Edgar for it! Give the guy a chance to hold his own in the division for a while and make it interesting!

I dont know what it was wheather it was just Edgar outclassed BJ, was just the fact they travelled to Abu Dhabi for the fight, was it the humidy in the areana or wheather BJ had an illness or something - I dont know but BJ just didnt seem right I can see him destroying Frankie in the rematch for some reason - O by the way Congratulations on becoming champ Frankie.



And Dannyboy BJ wants to become the best fighter in the world he wants to move up as Lightweight champ so he can try and hold the belts in both divisions - Even tho I think GSP is just to big of a step for BJ

I think Edgar won, i undertand to win the belt you must beat the champ convincingly but BJ had not even been taken down in years and edgr got him down twice and gave as good as he got! With all things taken into consideration i think Edgar deserved to win and was glad to see an exchange of the belt after all this time! BJ will always be the best p4p fighter in the lightweight division as i cant see anyone holding the belt as long as hed did but he should move up graciously now, hes only gna have to hand it to someone who didn earn it otherwise when he does move up???

I agree, I thought Penn won the first 3 rounds and the 4th was a draw and 5th was for Edgar, I think in the rematch Penn will finish the fight

I think the humidity in abu-dabi was a huge problem for BJ, thats probobly why he lost.

I think in the rematch BJ will win but i would like to see Edgar beat him again.

How can you say that the humidity was the problem for BJ? Are you saying that the humidity made him slip punches? The humidity could affect grappling, which there was little to none of.

i want to see edgar win the rematch myself. but why are people saying the humidity would bother someone from hawaii? he trains and lives in that humidity all day.

Frankie E won't be so lucky this time because BJ Penn get this win.

The reason he won the first fight is beacuse Bj had a severe sinus infection and was not able to train in the fight which in my opinion and my others he won. But lost a machida decision. Not taking anything away though, the only way frankie could win would be with better speed and cardio and thats what he did. Bj will be in shape though, and it wont make it to a decision garunteed.

I dont agree with people saying BJ won the first fight I think every nuetral would say Frankie won the fight.



but I do think BJ will win the rematch justs needs to come in with a better mentality, better shape and cardio and a new clever game plan if he does I could see a demolition job.

BJ didnt look like himself in that fight. Kinda slow and not as agressive

im no one to give explanations for a fighter but bj didnt looked like in sanchez fight, he looked to slow and not that sharp maybe something was really wrong with him but we will see in next fight
