Frank Mir says he would cut down to 235 pounds just to fight Anderson Silva

Mir revealed that he would event cut nearly 50 pounds from his normal weight down to 235, just to make the fight appealing for Ed Soares and the athletic commissions:
“I would love to fight Anderson Silva. I would even make it a 235 catchweight to make it more appealing to his manager and the commission.”
Anderson Silva came recently under a heavy fire following his awkward performance against Demian Maia at UFC 112: Invincible. Frank Mir is known as not one of the most popular figures among the Black House members, which could make Anderson Silva very interested in the fight against the former Champion. Frank Mir is currently recovering from a loss to Shane Carwin at the co-main event of UFC 111, which denied him a chance for a rematch against Brock Lesnar in July.

dude if an enormous guy like mir is standing before the spider, he wont even fill the hits from that tiny guy...
and tbh i think mir will eat anderson, the weightclasses are there for a reason and if spider wanna fight 2 weightclasses above him, i wish him good luck against some real badass tanks in that devision, he will need it

If he fights Big Country, Mir will lose again!! If Mir fights Anderson Silva, hes gonna get picked apart, because hes just too slow. If he takes it to the ground, there's not much he can do there either.
u dont think frank mir could do anything on the ground? he submitted lesnar WHILE getting punched in the face by the big ape, no offense to anderson or big countrys fat ass, but neither hit harder than lesnar, and mir is extremely smart on the ground, if he fights nelson, that fat ass wont stand a chance, mir has a much better chin than anyone big country has faught and i doubt nelson could just lay on mir without getting submitted. I would love to see a catch weight fight between mir and silva, silvas weakness is on the ground which is still mirs strength.

Mir lost in a grappling match to nelson, so throw that out the window.. Mir would have to TKO or KO nelson in that fight, which, with mirs new striking I think would be a possibility
I seen that grappling match, and ya nelson won, after 8 mins or so i think and a few stupid mistakes by mir, ya a win, but not impressive, and id think mir would have learned his lesson there and not repeat that mistake. so i would give mir the win in a rematch with nelson.
All that muscle he put on is going to be that easy to dump huh? Weird. He was stupid to try and bulk anyway, wrestlers have a lot more strength than their size suggests. Incredible core strength.
He only changed his mind about moving down to LHW because Lesnar got sick. Dumb.
There are different methods of cutting weight, he doesn't have to "dump" all the muscle.
He put on what, 30lbs of muscle? He's already cutting down to 265. The way he would dump that weight is to catch malaria and eat nothing but tape-worm salads. Unless it's roid muscle, in which case 235lbs is no big deal, it comes off fast.

Why not just let Anderson gain weight to go to heavyweight. Mir would be pretty skinny and weak at 165-180lbs.

Mir has to stay in the spot light so this is no surprise. He'd get a beating similar to the one Vera gave him. In no way does Mir deserve to fight the P4P fighter anyway.

Anderson does not hit as hard a Carwin... Frank could take more hits
then most people Silva has fought.... There for he has time to land a big punch on Silva. Franks stand up has gotten better and cutting down to 235 would make him pretty quick.

One thing i've learned about Frank Mir is that you never write him off. His first fight back after his accident when he lost by TKO to Marcio Cruz i thought he was done back then but Frank always manages to bounce back impressively and this time should be no different, his only other losses since the Cruz bout are to Vera, Lesnar and Carwin, no shame in that at all. Frank is a good fighter whichever way you cut it but i really don't think we'll see him face A.S. anytime soon, i think there's more chance we'll see A.S. vs GSP before we see that fight......

It all depends on what Mir tried to do. If he ran at Silva swinging because he's bigger, Silva would counterpunch and knock him out. But if Mir was smart and stayed back, we'd get another crappy performance from Silva.
