Frank Mir: I will be looking for a devastating win over Big Nog
Posted on December 10, 2011, 08:09 AM by Anton GurevichOctagon veteran Frank Mir spoke about tonight's encounter with Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, looking to get his second victory over the Brazilian legend. Mir labels himself as a Mixed Martial Artist, stating that he's proud to test himself against some of the best this sport has to offer. The fight with Nogueira will mark Frank Mir's second fight this year, and his first outside United States of America since the UFC 38 encounter with Ian Freeman.

blah blah blah
Another uninformed muppet?
Mir is easily one of the more intelligent and well spoken fighters today. He breaks down the art of fighting and the mentality behind it in a way that you have to respect. To say he's just spouting off (as you imply) is just asinine and makes you look like an immature, numb nutz, pubic louse (you may well be for all I know).
You saying blah blah blah after that Kimura now?
Easy fight for Mir , Frank is no Brendan schaub this wil be a fast win for Mir even in his last fight Big Nog was slow , no head movement , it was enough to beat a fighter that has bin doing mma for 3 years . Mir on the other hand is a mutch better fighter then schaub , I think it wil end in the first or second round tko/ko for Frank Mir .
Pretty sure Schaub would KO Mir.
I don't know many people who are actually Frank Mir fans. My buddy grew up around him in Vegas and says he's a real big ****head.
It's hard not to be a celebrity and at the top of your world and not turn into a **** head. I have some friends who are physio's who have hung with GSP (who I think highly of) and they say he can be a ****. Some portray a better public persona and some don't hold it back.
Wow, I just looked at my last post and the auto editing of the work d.ick. That's pretty strict. I just glad my name isn't **** or that one of the main fighters isn't named ****. What if Dana's name was **** White. Or Lorezo and Frank ****? Wow, that's be tough.
I'm pretty sure most people realized Nogs performance against Randy and his performance against Mir were 2 totally different guys who showed up. I wont harp on Nog's staph infection, but there clearly was a difference in him, he was really slow and lethargic. Randy's fight he had cardio and his striked were twice as fast,
That being said, I suspect Frank will get the win, but Nog might shock us including Frank. This isnt an easy fight for him IMO.
I think one of them will win ....yeah one of them will win.
For anyone who has improved their position in life beyond that of their peers, there are always critics.
But how many statues are erected to critics, how many UFC belts are worn by critics??
Critics have a voice which is heard because of the sweat and hard work of the person they are known for speaking about. If they didn't, they would more likely be anonomys.
Personally, I've been a fan of big Nog for years, I like Frank as a fighter and believe he will retire Big Nog tonight.
I dont say that with an ounce of disrespect for Big Nog, I just feel like he looks old now, and would like him to enjoy his retirement as a healthy person.
well said.
I like Mir as a fighter and an analyst. He is one of the most intellectually intelligent fighters in the UFC. I think there are other fighters in the UFC who are more intelligent, but they don't 'sound' as intelligent. The core of intelligence is 'what' you say, not 'how' you say it.
Mir is the Sultan of Smug. His inherent intelligence and adroit vocabulary allows him to justify and spin his opinions into a structure of plausibility, but many fans sense his self-satisfaction and supercilious attitude--and don't like him for it.
Mir, despite being articulate, cannot help himself.
For example. I do not fight professionally, and any training I do is for fitness, fun, and self-defense. I am not too scared to 'test' myself, I just don't want to show up to work with two black eyes. Professional fighting is not for everyone, and if I choose not to do it, or if I am not good enough to do it does not make training in MMA less valuable to me on a personal level.
Mir made it sound as if all those who merely train in Martial Arts, but are not professional fighters are somehow, not doing so out of fear of testing themselves.
I really don't think Mir meant to insult everyone who trains in MMA but is not a professional. His words reflect his own fears and inner self-dialogue.
Mir just proved once again that you can be really smart and articulate and still be stupid.
hmm... you make some sound arguments. in the end, like you say, it's all projecting onto others what you unconsciously fear for your own self.
Took Codemaster about two and a half hours to use Dictionary.com and Thesaurus.com to finish this post.
It may shock you to realize that many people have looked up words in the dictionary and thesaurus so many times that they remember the words and use them in every day speech and writing. Many of those people use the words they do, not to impress, but to communicate their thoughts most accurately and effecitvely.
Next you will be accusing me of sesquipedalianism.
Sesquip-what-anism???
@Codemaster,
Wow!!! I'm impressed with your elequent soliloquy.
Good work :)
lol I fear to reply due to a probable vengeful analysis. 8P
El Guapo and Mir would be a change
well at least Joe and Bas.
Mir is very intelligent, and super articulate. But this proves that even smart people say stupid s--t too. All this time I thought it was just me!
Looks like Mir got his wish after all. Possible sub of the year.
Big Nog is a legend of MMA BJJ.
This is a huge submission for Mir.
Wow code shortest post ever LOL.
