Frank Mir says he knew Big Nog is not going to tap (X-Ray picture inside)

Frank Mir looked back at his amazing victory over Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, and Big Nog's decision not to tap out despite being in a very "deep" Kimura lock. According to Mir, he had a feeling the Brazilian legend is not going to surrender this way, which led to a snapped shoulder and a damaged elbow. Mir also spoke about his future inside the Octagon, indicating that he would like to face Brock Lesnar in a rubber match.

He will probably get Cain for his next fight and Alistair his title shot, Brock should return to wwe where he belongs.

"Frank Mir will probably fight Cain next, and if he wins, he will fight Overeem for the title. Once Brock loses to Overeem he should return to the WWE where he belongs"

I understand what fkarab is saying, but @Nik_Hulstein, wtf is "sence"?

since, sense scents, cents (yes english is the hardest language)

since....refers to or regarding time or from past

Senses... are physiological capacities of organisms that provide inputs for perception.

    Scents...smell

    cents....US money among others...

I hope everyone can learn a little from my post. And you can clearly see why Americans are confused by nationalities typing in English.

Not sarcastic at all, just enlightening others.

He made a statement that he has sick jits and alot of heart but proved that a fight with Cain would only last untill Cain caught him with his first few punches. Cain vs. Mir would look the same as Cain vs. Nog

I think Cain would probably be the favorite, but I'd like to see them throw down. I think it's important that Mir showed he has heart though. After a few of the comments from Dana, a lot of people thought he'd just give up the moment things didn't go his way.

Mir didn't really give Big Nog much of a chance to tap. Breaking people's arms is pretty intimidating...

...but that's the fight game. Even though he didn't really have the chance to tap, Frank is probably right, Big Nog would not tap. And would have done the same thing to Mir.

have u ever been kimura'd? it hurts pretty much as soon as they crank it the first time and u can see from nogs face way before it broke that it was hurting. Personally, I dont know why nog didnt tap? :s he was on his back with mir on top in side control, which i would say is pretty impossible to get out of, there was no rolling over

What is wrong with you guys..?? Big Nog it was not submitted.Submition means when the guy is tapping, but is not the case here.Big Nog is a true warrior an his pride told him to not tap and got a broken bone. He`s not a pussy..that is the point here.."Broke me but i`m not gonna be your bitch".This is the real man that we all should respect. He lost ..but not in the way that Mir wanted.Respect Big Nog!!!

Big Nog clearly tapped--after his arm snapped.

If he was too proud to tap--he would be like Tim Silvia, with his arm broken in three places--arguing with the ref for stopping the fight.

A true warrior? So everyone who ever tapped in the UFC is not a true warior and a 'bitch' by your logic?

Man feel bad for Nog. this is a pretty nasty break. i know first hand what a spiral fractured humerus recovery involves. Mine looked just like that, it took a steel plate and 13 screws to fix, and a year of rehab to get to 75%. Its not a good, thing hope his goes better.

Both of those are non repairable, but oh wait, a broken arm? yup last time i checked that can be repaired.. hmmm repairable seems alot safer than non-repairable and death... just my opinion tho, could be wrong......

So hes supposed to hold his arm back forever even though he knows hes got the win?

Go watch iceskating you wuss. Nog could have stopped that but he didnt, I could clearly see Nog's other hand and it didnt tap until the break.

I'de say Mir is the most dangerous BJJ player in the game and when he gets his next opponent in a sub, THEY WILL TAP or suffer the same fate, Brock was smart and avenged his win instead of losing an ankle.

The reason why you tap is to prevent this kind of injury. Most of the high level BJJ guys (the Nogueira Bros., the Gracie family, etc.) have openly said they will never tap, and they will accept the consequences for any submission they can't escape. It's a matter of pride for them.

Honestly though, if no fighter was willing to break your arm/choke you out, who would tap to a submission? Wouldn't that make the Jits game kinda pointless?

MMA is safer than boxing. Look at how many blows to the head someone takes in a boxing match. It is actually better on your brain to just get knocked out cold then to get rocked and get right back up and take more blows to the head, and in this case, it happens more often in boxing then it does in mma because of the size of the gloves. Also, in mma fights, the fighters can concentrate on submissions and wrestling, when in boxing, the only thing is 'to the body, to the head, to the body, to the head.'Trust me. You have a better chance at living a normal life after fighting mma then you do boxing. Not money-wise, of course.

After a fighting career, I mean, a real career, you have absolutely no chance on living a normal life. Even someone who ran marathon all his life has health problems after so don't tell me a fighter can take blow and stay normal.

Joe Rogan know more fighters than anyone else and he said in a recent interview that if you start a fighting career, you have to do this all your life, that fighting is a dangerous job and you can't start fighting just for fun because it's impossible not to have health problems.

High level fighters, GSP for example, will have to go monthly, if not weekly, see a doctor. When you push your body to the very extreme limit during 10-15 years don't expect to come back to normal life and die old and healthy.

In boxing, blows to the head have been linked to a variety of neurological conditions in fighters--and Parkinsonism is one of them.

BJJ is a MARTIAL ART. Just like Boxing, Kickboxing, Sambo, Karate or Muay Thai. Make no mistake, even though these martial arts are being utilized in a competitive sport setting, the entire point behind these skills is to hurt people more effectively. You don't drop your guard in a striking sport, and you know when to quit in a submission sport. Failing to do so has consequences.

You're right all injuries that can cause severe damage should be prevented. To prevent eye pokes they should use closed finger gloves, grappling game be damned. To prevent broken legs, leg kick shouldn't be allowed. Broken jaws, concussions and horribly broken noses can be prevented by outlawing blows to the face. And stopping gut shots or kicks would prevent liver explosions ala Bas Rutten. Don't want to allow takedowns, because someone might break their arm like Shogun did. So now we're left with a sport that is nothing but people punching each other in the thigh. Have fun with that.

That type of training will NEVER exist. Sometimes guys resist to ultra-tight choke/holds and sometimes guys don't tap and get their bones broken, it's the fighter's responsability to tap, not the referee's.

Jitz superb but his stand up and cardio still bad and will get found wanting against bigger hitters as he has before.

Best grappler in the heavyweight division, I think yes. Big nog had never been submitted, he's been black belt in both BJJ and Judo since 1999, he had a good gil choke on Frank and he got out of it, to eventually secure a tight kimura that broke Nog's arm. Serious JJ display in that fight by Frank Mir, you gotta give him credit.

Hominick just under estimated him! threw a big left hook with his chin up in the air and did not follow with a right hand. CRAZY!!! he`s a great striker and makes a school boy error...weird! got hit right on the button and was not out cold so he will defo win his next fight and maybe learn at this level you cant take any one lightly!

I don't understand MMA fans actually admitting to closing their eyes during that kimura. It's like shutting your eyes during a KO. WTF?

That was a sudden and sweet reversal of fortunes. That whole card was cool, and the arm snap was the coolest, though Jones dropping the rag doll that once was Machida--was also dramatic. A standing choke to lullaby land. Jones' nickname should be The Sandman.

Many Brazilians were crushed by that snap--you could say it was the Snap! that was heard around the world. Usually Brazilans claim Jiu Jitsu as their own--even renaming the martial art which originated in Japan as Brazilian. Big Nog is much loved in Brazil, and his BJJ is legendary--with over 20 submission wins. Mir beat Big Nog at his own game. He beat the Master. Twice he finished him.

I had my hopes up in the first round with Machida, but once Jones got his hands on Machida--it was game over. I was impressed again by Jones, but at least Machida got in a few good shots--and brought Jones down to demi-godhood.

This could be it for Nog at his age breaking a bone like that would take a long time to heal.

The whole not tapping to a sub can be a bit of a mind**** because there are a lot of people who will actually release the lock/hold whatever rather than break their opponents arm or because they think that since the other person isn't tapping they cant have the lock on right. So what Frank did is pretty much what you should do when the other person doesnt tap.
