As was previously rumoured, former Lightheavyweight Champion Forrest Griffin looks set to square off against Former Middleweight King Rich Franklin, in a bout tentatively scheduled for February 5th. Following Franklin's move up in weight, and then Knockout of Chuck Liddell, both fighters are expected to take place at UFC 127.

Franklin will look set to continue his run at Lightheavyweight, since causing an upset by putting Chuck Liddell away at UFC 115, in Vancouver. Since initially moving up in weight, Frankiln has had a mixed bag of results. Since being beaten a second time by Anderson Silva, "Ace" is 4-2, defeating Chuck, Wanderlei Silva, Travis Lutter and Matt Hamill, but losing to Dan Henderson and Vitor Belfort. A win for the Former Champ could see him earn a spot in the top 10 Lightheavyweights, with an eye on one last run at the title.

For Griffin, a win for the winner of the Original season of The Ultimate Fighter, would cement his status in the Lightheavyweight division. In Franklin, Forrest will once again look to upset the odds, just like his wins over Shogun Rua and Rampage Jackson. This bout will be his first since pulling out of a fight with Little Nog because of a shoulder injury. Following surgery, Griffin will aim to continue his run in the Lightheavyweight division, following a split decision win over Tito Ortiz. Overall, Forrest is 17-6. Following his win over Shogun Rua, he captured the belt in a win over Rampage Jackson, before losing it to Rashad Evans. He followed this up with a heavy loss to Anderson Silva.

As well as this exciting Lightheavyweight bout, Anderson Silva is expected to go to war with Vitor Belfort, with his Middleweight strap the prize, while Jon Jones will meet Ryan Bader, in a match filled with title shot implications. The card will go out on the Superbowl Weekend.

What kept griffin out so long? Tha shoulder injury seems like ages ago. I am going with Franklin due to cage rust and good game plan. Franklin always has good game plans.

I think the sun is setting on Forrest's career. Also, he seems much slower and mumbly, I think he has had his bell rung too many times.

Great matchup. Both guys could win this fight but right now I'm leaning toward Rich Franklin. I mean the only people Franklin has lost to are A. Silva, Belfort, Machida, and Henderson.

More ring rust speculation for Griffin. Should be a good one. I will probably take Franklin by T.K.O. though.

Rampage has more KO power than Rashad and Rashad KOed Forrest but Rampage couldn't... It's not about who couldn't KO who, it's about how precisely you hit the button. Even I could KO Forrest or anybody if i hit as hard as i can on the button but it doesn't work that way. So Franklin could very well KO Forrest and so could Forrest. I'd like to see Forrest win but i think Franklin might take this one...

This fight makes sense to me and I can't wait to see it. Forrest vs. Jon Jones wouldn't be this exciting (or at least even)

why are people counting forrest out??? i think he has better hand speed, better footwork, and will prob be able to use his kicks at will since franklin likes to stand, forrest isnt jus doin it for the money either, he could quit and be an author so y get beat up if he dosnt have to? he still wants to fight, i think franklin is a stand up class person and a great fighter, hes probably a better technical boxer than forrest, but i dont see franklin knockin forrest out, i dont see forrest knockin out franklin either, if its the same forrest the beat rampage and the one the destroyed tito, its definitely gonna be forrest, it could a sub or somthin but prob a decision, either way its gonna be a great fight

The writing on this site is just AWFUL sometimes. Fine enough content, subject matter is never an issue but seriously, who hired the drunk foreigners to write? Isn't there a native English-speaker who works for Lowkick who could do a bit of editing for grammar and spelling? Friggin ridiculous.
