Forrest Griffin defeats Rich Franklin via a Unanimous Decision
Posted on February 5, 2011, 11:10 PM by Anton GurevichForrest Griffin returned for the first time to the Octagon since 2009, facing the former UFC Middleweight Champion Rich Franklin in the UFC 126 co-main event attraction. But despite being absent for such a long time, Forrest Griffin controlled the fight on both feet and on the ground, against the relatively small Rich Franklin.
First Round was spent mostly on the ground, as Forrest Griffin landed 65 strikes, comparing to Franklin's 4. Remaining two rounds saw fighters trading strikes on their feet, but once again, it was Forrest Griffin who was more productive with strong punches and leg kicks combinations. Griffin's size was the key factor in this fight, as Rich Franklin struggled to gain Octagon control and set his pace in the fight.
Forrest Griffin is now 18-6 in his MMA career, and will probably face the winner of Rampage-Silva showdown.
