First official fight card under the UFC / Fox deal begins to take shape
Posted on November 17, 2011, 10:34 PM by Trent Reinsmith
This past weekend’s UFC on Fox event was just a teaser for what is to come when the deal between the UFC and Fox officially begins in January. It appears that the first event under the seven year deal between the UFC and FOX will take place on January 20 and will originate from Nashville, TN, with the card being broadcast on the FX network.
The UFC recently began filling that fight card. The evening’s main event will feature a lightweight bout between Melvin Guillard and Jim Miller. Both fighters seemed to be on their way to lightweight title contention when their progress was abruptly halted in their last fights. Miller dropped a unanimous decision to the freight train that is Ben Henderson, while Guillard was submitted in the first round of his bout against Joe Lauzon.
Two other fights have been announced for the card, Josh Neer vs. Duane Ludwig and Pat Barry vs. Christian Morecraft.

"Farce"??? BobtheBonehead....
That was sports history, moron. The UFC coming to network television is a dream come true for the UFC and MMA fans across the world. So, it was only one fight, big deal. It is only going to get bigger and better from here, retard.
EXACTLY. Well stated. Cracked me up the way you changed the man's screen name. :o)
This Fox FX card is it like the Versus cards and UFN cards right? if it is then thats a sold main event, looking forward to it n I'm guessing Guida will get Maynard next seeing that Miller is out of the picture
hey bob the builder shut the **** up. the first fox fight was before the deal actually started so it wasnt officially supposed to happen so u shuld be thanking them. n plus it was free noone asked u to watch it. SO STFU!
I have no real complaints on the first ufc on fox...this card looks good so far. But I do hope they show more fights on fox. Not just online
it should be patt barry vs mark hunt
guess theyre going for excitement in the main event instead of championships this time
Both coming off loses meaning they are both hungry for a win. And these two a great fighters. It gonna be an exciting fight for sure.
I agree with your response. They do not want to lose again, I think it will be a good fight.
Lmao, Pat Barry is getting tossed in their with giants. I think it's time to lose some of that ass Pat and drop down to Light-heavy.
barry - hunt, that It's a fight that I want to see
Guillard and Miller are my 2 favourite LWs but I have to admit, going from the biggest HW fight in UFC history, to two fighters which arent massive names (especially Miller) and are both coming off loses, it seems like a big drop to me.
At first with the HW championship I thought they were gonna load the FOX cards but it looks like they are gonna be just another set of fight nights. Nothing wrong with that just didn't expect it.
That's why it's on FX, not FOX. I think the FOX cards will be bigger names.
damn i misread it, thanks man that was dumb on my part
I'm sorry but where does it say Barry vs Hunt?
For casual fans they might not care about the main event but for us hardcore fans, it should be one that will be hard to wait for!
Miller is one of the toughest fighters in the world and goes 100% with seconds left in the fight even if he is losing, he is almost impossible to stop and has a granite chin. While Melvin Guillard has probably the heaviest hands in LW and is one of the fastest fighters on the planet who can also go all day.
this has WAR written all over it.
The UFC seems to be making a statement here, by making the main event a fight that isn't even a #1 contenders bout.
Fox will be taking over Spike's place as the venue for 'free' fights. The UFC's bread and butter is PPV events. They make so much $$$ from this, it will always be where most of the best bouts are.
Thats not full of big named fighters but so far its actually pretty sick , esp for hardcore fans /
im suprised to see barry vs morecraft possibly on the main card. this is really the first real fox card, there gonna have alot of first time veiwers watching, does the ufc really want those people to turn on fox and see those two fighting: one of them is chubby and cant throw a proper punch, and the other one is wild and has no ground game. sick main event tho.
Let's just hope Melvin is working his sub defense 24-7
I like the Barry vs Morecraft fight. That should be a good stand up battle. Barry tries to be an entertaining fighter.
The winner of Miller-Guillard should fight the winner of the upcoming Cerrone-Diaz fight.
Marking that date on my 2012 calendar as soon as I log off. Finally, I can watch more that one bout at a time. I WANT to see that Miller fight. That guy is one tough SOB.
