Fabricio Werdum in talks with the UFC, could be Octagon bound by December

"He’s back to the trainings, he’s making everybody laugh. He’ll probably fight in December… He’s talking to the UFC, and maybe they come up with something for December. I like the idea, he deserves it. In case it actually happens, UFC is the place he should’ve never left. The bests are there, and there’s where Werdum belongs." - For complete interview with Kings MMA coach Rafael Cordeiro, visit Tatame.com

It appears Heavyweight jiu-jitsu phenom Fabricio Werdum could be on his way back to the octagon. The Brazilian parted ways with the organization back in 2008 following a 2-2 stint that was punctuated by a vicious first-round knockout loss to a debuting Junior dos Santos. In the time since Werdum has strung together a respectable 3-1 mark under the Strikeforce banner, which includes a shock submission victory over then undefeated Fedor Emelianenko.

Though nothing is official at this time, Kings MMA coach, Rafael Cordeiro, says "Vai Cavalo" could be back "where he belongs" in time for Christmas. So what do you think LowKick'ers? Knowing what we know now about "Cigano," is Werdum's loss to the then-unknown newcomer forgivable? And how much of his success in Strikeforce could translate into the UFC?

Im definitely liking the additions to the HW division. With Alistair and potentially Werdum, we are starting to see a very deep HW division.

Werdum vs Carwin would be a great match or even Werdum vs Browne

I think Werdum vs Carwin would be a bit of a snoozer to be honest. Werdum would be wary of Carwin's punching power, and if he couldn't take Overeem down, he for damn sure won't be able to take Carwin down. It would probably be a lot of Werdum laying on his back beckoning to Carwin.

Werdum is over rated. He had a big win against Fedor but I think he would get overwhelmed again in the UFC. The way he fought Overeem was terrible.

So will strikeforce seize to exist? Is the ufc planning on dismantling strikeforce? Whats the point of strikeforce if all their good fighers are going to ufc,why would anyone watch strikeforce with shitty fighters?

That would be interesting to see, Werdoom comingback to UFC. Maybe in the future we will see rematches Werdum vs Dos Santos, or Alistar vs Werdum, I'm just syaing it.

I think Werdum in great...his game just does not add well to a pure striker like Overeem, JDS or even Carwin (Carwin does not play his wrestling base well so ends up only punching)....Werdum would have a very good chance with guys like Mir, Nogueira or Cain...yes I said Cain.

Cain? Yea might be, but Nougiera he is a good Jiu Jitsu grapler and what did Cain do with him TKO first round, so I'm not sure about Werdum getting comfortable with Cain's Striking department.

Werdum does`nt excite me that much as an mma fighter.

Check out the fight between him and overeem, and for that matter, check out all of his fights in the ufc.

They don`t make for exciting viewing to say the least.

Eddy i see what you mean but at this point i beleive Werdum can take more punishment than Nog (remember this is not the nog from Pride days). That would allow Werdum to have more time to lock something up....i dont see cain going the full figth without going for a take down.
