Fabricio Werdum happy to return to the UFC, promises to KO or get KO'd
Posted on December 21, 2011, 10:05 AM by Anton GurevichTop-ranked Heavyweight Fabricio Werdum shared his thoughts about the upcoming return to the UFC Octagon at UFC 143, against no other than the TUF 10 winner Roy "Big Country" Nelson. According to Werdum, he will KO Nelson or get KO'd in process of trying to prove his worth as a fighter to the UFC fans around the world. Werdum is 3-1 since his release from the UFC after what was then a shocking KO from the hands of Junior dos Santos, high-profile victories over Antonio Silva, Mike Kyle and "The Last Emperor" Fedor Emelianenko. Stand with Roy? Ummm no
JDS couldnt even KO Roy, good luck Werdum.
Werdum is a great guy but he got lucky against Fedor. He is a good fighter , but I think Nelson will brutaize him . He should have gotten an easier fight like cheaick kongo to start
Do you also think Anderson Silva got lucky with Chael Sonnen??
Fedor fell for it, got caught, and paid the price.
But I do think Fedor would beat Werdum in a rematch. Ill give you that
No I dont think silva got lucky ,because he had to try to submit sonnen from his back for 5 rounds ,before getting the Submission. But werdum just got it straight away.
Ok I admit that I do not believe what I say about Werdum being lucky . I Believe he had a great gameplan and train hard to be able to submit fedor in the 1st like that.
However as the "biggest " fedor fan ,I must Affirm that Werdum got lucky ! :P hahahaha
Lucky or not, he beat Fedor fair and square. Fedor got caught, wasn't able to get out of it and finally tapped. Every fighter could say that when they get caught it's because the other got lucky.
For example, last Fedor fight against Arlovski. Arlovski was winning the first round, untill he got caught by one of Fedor's punches that dropped him.
So if we could say that Werdum got lucky beating Fedor, we could say Fedor go lucky beating Arlovski.
Now I know your going to reply, saying that blablabla Fedor is the GOAT. OK.
Don't even reply, because I think the same thing, Fedor is extremely talented and he's a legend, BUT I don't think Werdum got lucky against him, the two fights following Fedor's loss to Werdum proved it wasn't impossible to beat Emelianenko without luck.
Have a nice day
I hope it's the latter of the two.
why ko people when ure a boss in bjj
There is no way Werdum's plan is to KO Nelson he is just saying this to make Roy think he will stand unlikely he will buy it though.
Exactly.
If Werdum can control him on the ground he could get a tko or a ko there. This is MMA. KOs don't only happen in the stand up.
Than Mr.Werdum, you are going to meet the canvas, there is no way you will ko iron chin Nelson, the man is a freak of nature, Mirko, Mir and Junior caught him with numerous power bombs and at the end of the fight, Roy was almost without a schrach...
Well I'm sure a few scratches were obtained in the Junior bout; to the brain.
Big mistake if he does... Nelson has more power and a better chin.
I think Werdum can win via TKO on the ground however; but not standing and trading with Nelson.
I think its funny that new or recurring HWs get back in the UFC then they see Roy and think, I got this one easy...until they get hit lmao.
Exactly. KO or get KO'd?? Why. I'd be very happy to see him Sub Roy. I don't know why these guys feel they have to stand. Sure, its cool to see KO's but but for HIM to try that here against ROY makes no sense.
Based on his last UFC fight, he has a good chance of fulfilling his promise in devastated fashion.
Werdum better close the distance and then pull Nelson down to the ground. Although it still wont be easy as Nelson is an experienced BJJ. But if Werdum stands at any length of time with Nelson, he will get caught with overhand right or maybe a devastating uppercut to end it...
big country has good bjj to , he would KO him standing, but he might have a chance on the ground
I got Werdum by submission when Roy starts to gas, end of round 2. Werdum can take a beating, JDS aside, and is so very sick with his bjj. He's a funny dude too.
By the way Werdum wasn't even cut from the UFC.
