Duane Ludwig defeats Nick Osipczak via Split Decision at UFC 122
Posted on November 13, 2010, 02:44 PM by Anton GurevichMMA veteran "Bang" Duane Ludwig defeated Nick Osipczak via Unanimous Decision, at the main card opener of the UFC 122 event in Oberhausen, Germany.
Ludwig dominated Osipczak in the first round with perfectly-timed striking combinations, but the Brit managed to bounce back a knock down his opponent, adding some serious ground and pound strikes in the process. Nick Osipczak was clearly the better man in the second round, using his reasonable advantage to keep Ludwin at distance. Osipczak landed good strikes, adding a takedown as an exclamation point for winning the round.
Third round was a whole different story. Osipczak completely "gassed out". Kept his hands low and refused to exchange with the crafty veteran Duane Ludwig. "Bang" had several opportunities to finish the fight, but Osipczak once again managed to survive and take the fight to decision.
I scored the bout 29-27 for Ludwig. The judges had it 28-30, 29-28, 29-28, awarding Duane Ludwig a victory via Split Decision. "Bang" improves his MMA record to 20 wins and 11 losses

Bad call by the judges, Nick deserved to when that fight, first 2 rounds were Nick's so idk how he lost
another serious bs decision
this was a fight that would of looked bad either way i can see your arguement but would you of really felt good if nick won that fight
Nick won the the first two rounds, so even if you give Ludwig a 10-8 final round, it should have been a draw.
Yeah Nick was on the end of a bad call there, at worst it was a draw and his third round didn't do him any favours at all but I just didn't see that as a loss for him. As for the gassing, he really needs to work on that and someone of his build really shouldn't be out of steam after two rounds. His conditioning training most be pretty poor.
Nick won 29-28... what some judges do is count the fight as a whole like in the pride days
but they have to mark each round at the end of the round. so that isnt possible
some judges do that were they mark everything at the end
Considering that they put down the score right after each round this decision is a mystery. And honestly if you are down 2 rounds like Duane was and you don't go for the finish all out in the last round when your opponent is obviously hurt, you don't deserve to win no matter what rule set you use.
totally disagree nick ran away from his oponent the whole fight, ludwig showed that he wanted to fight on like nick who has to be one off the worst efforts and heart ever showed in the ufc, no ludwig tried head kicks kicks to the legs and body and control he ring pressued nick the whole fight, thats why the judges gave it to ludwig, i had first round ludwig, 2 nick and 3rd ludwig 10-8
