Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone has gone unbeaten in six straight fights, his last loss taking place on April 24, 2010 when he fell to then WEC Lightweight Champion Benson Henderson via first round submission.

Cerrone earned Fight Night Bonuses in four of those six victories, including back-to-back bonuses in his last two fights.  Shortly after his last victory, a first round submission win over Dennis Siver at UFC 137 it was announced that he would face Nate Diaz at UFC 141, which will take place on December 30 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.

MMAWeekly caught up with Cerrone after he was named Breakthrough Fighter of the Year at this week’s World MMA Awards show and spoke to him about his growing confidence, where he sees himself within the next year as well as his opinion of the Diaz brothers and their fighting spirit, something he feels he shares with the Diaz's.

diaz vs cerrone is a great match up. i feel like its a good match up for both guys, with both there weaknesses being wrestling. they both have great stand up and jitz, i think it will come down too a standing war, cerrones kick boxing vs diaz boxing. im hoping nate will take it but who knows, cant wait!

Cerrone shows some good wrestling skills.

    Nate doesnt

Cerrone will get the better of the feet I believe, but if not he will take him down and do just fine on the ground with Nate.

Cerrone via decision by being better all around

I think Cerrone will win the fight, his standup is just so impressive and his ground game isn't bad at all. He's the most well-rounded fighter in this fight and that's why he'll win.

Cerrone is in for a tough fight if he really tries to stand and bang with Diaz

This guy is a badass too, maybe more so. I have him winning this fight as well and becoming champ.

Both guys have been VERY impressive of late and a tough one to call. I think leg kicks may edge a close decision for Cerrone, but either of them has the power to finish so it may not get to the judges.
