Diego Sanchez looking to coach TUF opposite BJ Penn

Diego Sanchez was scheduled to meet Matt Hughes at UFC 135, however a hand injury forced him from that bout. Sanchez is still on the mend and is expecting that he will be able to return to the Octagon in February 2012.

The fighter formerly known as “Nightmare” recently expressed a desire to return to his UFC roots by coaching a season of “The Ultimate Fighter." With that role in his sights he already has an opposing coach in mind.  “My thing right now is to coach that show. I know that a title shot for me is going to happen, one day it will but I would love to coach that show right now. I would like it to be against BJ (Penn); he is back at welterweight, let’s go do it and have a rematch, I think it would be great. I have a lot I can show these guys and Jesus Christ has blessed me with an ability that needs to be shared.” – for more see www.fighthubtv.com

What do you think LowKick’ers, does a TUF season featuring Sanchez and Penn as coaches sound enticing?

Bj Penn needs to quit fighting at 170. He had 8 fights above 155 and only won TWICE and both those wins were over Matt Hughes.

True but he fought monsters at 170 GSP, Hughes, Fitch, Diaz and Machida....its not like hes losing to nobodys, imo I rather see him at 155 but if he stays at 170 he will still be extremely hard to beat by majority of the WW's imo

I agree he should stay at 155 but he's also beat Rodrigo and Renzo Gracie above 155.

Sorry, this will not happen any time soon. Both fighters aren't "hot" enough these days and there are a number of more interesting picks from the UFC...Set Chael against another good Middle Weight, and you'll have a great season...

that goes to show that even tho he's fought monsters at 170 he's not ready for that division's elite (his record 2-5-1) out of all those names you just posted, at least at 155 he can still hang with the top 10

I wouldnt say he cant hang with the division top 10 at 170....he did finish Hughes twice and went to a draw with Fitch, that all should show that he can hang with the divisions best, true he lost to GSP n Diaz but no one in the past few years has beaten either of those two guys....imo if Penn fought fighters like Kos/Alves/Condit/Ellenberger/Shields he has a really good chance at winning those fights

Go away loser... BJ destroyed you. Go climb inside a bottle and reminisce about the days when people thought you were better than you actually were.

abit harsh, but i agree, i hate seeing these fighters of the past trying to gain back relivancy by talking...... diego, you are about 3 fights away from fighting bj and five fights away from the title. go and actually dominate someone descent before calling out top quality fighters.

Diego beat Nick Diaz years ago. And yes, they are both different fighters right now. But even though Diaz beat BJ, that just goes to show how styles determine the outcomes. Maybe Diego would beat Diaz again. Maybe his relentless style is just what it takes to beat Nick. In those days Sanchez reminded me of Chael Sonnen's style these days.

Pass! I don't want to see this guy yelling "YES!" over & over again on TUF.

The "Wet Dream" wants to be a TUF coach? It would be interesting enough. We could watch him meditate the whole season, that would be fun.

I don't know why people give Diego a hard time, all of his fights are exiting. Really, isn't that what matters?
