Uhh yeah he kinda did. Okay Hendo controlled him the 1st round but come the 2nd he was destroyed in the stand-up. He got hurt so bad that he started walking away in pain. Then on the ground he just kept getting hit, got his back taken and choked. Pretty much a destruction.
Hendo got caught in the second round, ended up on the ground and Silva submitted him. Getting caught by a fighter you were beating does not mean that you don't stand a chance against that fighter ever.
And if Silva just ran over Hendo explain to me why when the time for the rematch came about Silva refused to sign the contract? Silva knew that he could have lost that fight and really did not want to fight Hendo again. Hendo realized that he would never get a rematch vs Silva and that is why he left the UFC, what is the point when the champ won't fight you.
That is the point the guy on MMA Live was making about that the problem is that Dana has allowed Silva's manager to pick his fights which has lead to him fighting people which have no chance what so ever to beat him. This also lead to Hendo leaving and that is the reason they ended up without a challenger for Silva, it all comes down to failing to resign Hendo, biggest mistake of Dana's career.

Im guessing Dana chose Sonnen as his next opponent because he is already began some trash talking against Silva, so he will promote the fight very well. Other then that, choosing an opponent who's main skill set is wrestling, may cause this fight to be less then spectacular. They should of put him against Vitor, because im pretty sure it would have been a stand up fight.
It may work out though. Sonnen is a wrestler but he is aggressive. The main reason the fights AS has had with Jiu Jitsu guys have been lackluster is because AS likes to work of of his opponents mistakes and since these fighters haven't been too aggressive (until the last round with Maia) there hasn't been much of a show. Sonnen is going to go right after Silva and probably get KOd or submitted in the first or second unless he can pass Silva's guard in which case we might see a long, grinding fight.

I watch plenty of MMA, not here to prove this, and I saw the fight, but just because a fighter was good against one fighter, doesn't mean he would be good against another. Silva needs an opponent with a very heavy hands - striker, not another wrestler. And if you look at Sonnen's record, he is not a top guy to be fighting Silva. Oh and I do believe that Silva is not a natural Middle weight, he needs to step up, so he can fight real threat.

Maia had to have known he was down on points and never went all out for the victory! My point is sometimes fights don't turn out to be epic, it happens. A BJJ great vs. the best striker in MMA will not always be a battle when the BJJ fighter tries and fails to take down the opponent, in this case 13 times.

Silva lost a lot of fans after that event, i didn't like the way he goaded Maia to attack him but then did little attacking himself after the 2nd round, it was a poor performance by his own standards i'm sure but i also think Maia could have done a little more too, He seemed hesitant and even intimidated at times. Maia should have taken full advantage of Silva bieng off of his game like that, it doesn't happen often after all. It makes you wonder what could have thrown him so completely and affected his game to such a degree after the 2nd round, only he knows the answer to that one. I still think Silva will destroy Sonnen, infact, even more so now...........
For those who don't know why Sonnen is fighting Anderson Silva is because Sonnen vs. Marquardt was a #1 contenders fight. It was said before the fight. And the reason for it being a #1 contenders fight is because Marquardt had earned another shot at Silva, so they threw him someone they thought he was going to walk through and he ended up getting beat. Just because the one they thought was going to win didn't win doesn't mean they can go back on their word and not let Sonnen have a title match. I'm not saying Sonnen will win, but this is why he gets the title shot over every one else.
Also bcause Vitor has just begun to train again after recovering from an injury a few months back so the Sonnen fight can be cleared and made in a more timely fashion.
As for the way Anderson was acting in the ring the first few rounds, I didn't love it, but I understand why he did it. He wanted to humiliate Maia into punching, which Maia wouldn't do. He even put his chin out and hands down, still no punches from his oppenent. Silva was frustrated the first few rounds because he is a striker who like Machida, likes to counter. You know what Maia is, A BJJ expert that had no answer for Silva. I also feel Silva tired a bit in the 4th and 5th and he stayed away from Maia to end the fight with a victory. HE WON! He deserves credit for that against a top five 185er.

He wasn't even close to being able to do it. You can hate on Silva but at 185 he is in a class by himself right now! If you want to see action, put him in with strikers or more aggressive fighters. If you put him in with BJJ experts he should use his striking skill and stay on the outside and win the fight! The goal is to win!
And for all the people who didn't like that he was talking during the fight, well guess what! The opponent has 25min's to let his skills do the talking. Anderson gave Maia plenty of opportunities to do this and Maia wanted none of it.

Your right on. Silva won, again! I wish everyone would watch the Maia fight again and just watch Maia. He threw 4 real punches and kicks in the first round and only 7 in the second. Maia had to have known he was down on points and never went all out for the victory! My point is sometimes fights don't turn out to be epic, it happens. A BJJ great vs. the best striker in MMA will not always be a battle when the BJJ fighter tries and fails to take down the opponent, in this case 13 times.
Anderson won! I give him credit for that. And if Maia didn't like Silva's attitude during the fight then he had 25min to do something about it.
Sonnen is a right winged homophobe who I can't wait see humiliated by Silva. Sonnen is looking for the big pay-check. He brings nothing to this fight accept more aggression than the BJJ fighters Anderson has fought in the UFC. I don't see this one going more than 2 rounds.

Silva lost a lot of fans after that event, i didn't like the way he goaded Maia to attack him but then did little attacking himself after the 2nd round, it was a poor performance by his own standards i'm sure but i also think Maia could have done a little more too, He seemed hesitant and even intimidated at times. Maia should have taken full advantage of Silva bieng off of his game like that, it doesn't happen often after all. It makes you wonder what could have thrown him so completely and affected his game to such a degree after the 2nd round, only he knows the answer to that one. I still think Silva will destroy Sonnen, infact, even more so now...........
If Dana cut him, Silva could go anywhere and make tons of cash, so o'well.

For those who don't know why Sonnen is fighting Anderson Silva is because Sonnen vs. Marquardt was a #1 contenders fight. It was said before the fight. And the reason for it being a #1 contenders fight is because Marquardt had earned another shot at Silva, so they threw him someone they thought he was going to walk through and he ended up getting beat. Just because the one they thought was going to win didn't win doesn't mean they can go back on their word and not let Sonnen have a title match. I'm not saying Sonnen will win, but this is why he gets the title shot over every one else.
Also bcause Vitor has just begun to train again after recovering from an injury a few months back so the Sonnen fight can be cleared and made in a more timely fashion.
As for the way Anderson was acting in the ring the first few rounds, I didn't love it, but I understand why he did it. He wanted to humiliate Maia into punching, which Maia wouldn't do. He even put his chin out and hands down, still no punches from his oppenent. Silva was frustrated the first few rounds because he is a striker who like Machida, likes to counter. You know what Maia is, A BJJ expert that had no answer for Silva. I also feel Silva tired a bit in the 4th and 5th and he stayed away from Maia to end the fight with a victory. HE WON! He deserves credit for that against a top five 185er.

Anderson also landed a number of accurate strikes, kicks and knees! He also stuffed 13 take down attempts easily! He is the Champion! You have to take the belt from him and Maia wasn't able to do it. He wasn't even close to being able to do it. You can hate on Silva but at 185 he is in a class by himself right now! If you want to see action, put him in with strikers or more aggressive fighters. If you put him in with BJJ experts he should use his striking skill and stay on the outside and win the fight! The goal is to win!
And for all the people who didn't like that he was talking during the fight, well guess what! The opponent has 25min's to let his skills do the talking. Anderson gave Maia plenty of opportunities to do this and Maia wanted none of it.
Keep winning Silva and before you knock out Sonnen, Please! Please! Clown for a round so I can see that tool, Dana White, back out on his Bull-Sh#%t talk about cutting you.

I worry people don't see what Anderson is doing, I think he's trying to set himself aside from all other fighters. The negative attention will make him known to the general sports fan not just MMA nuts. He knows what Dana wants and he is rebelling. He's likely the only UFC fighter who can do that and feel secure ... he's got a perfect record in the UFC. I think Anderson wants to be a sports legend like his idol Ali.
