Dana White talks UFC on FOX, says Anderson Silva will have to fight Chael Sonnen

Once again, White spoke about the importance of UFC on FOX, and its influence on the future of Mixed Martial Arts. Dana White related to the match-up between Velasquez and dos Santos as "stylistically best", claiming that it's nothing but his duty to bring back the big Heavyweight superfights to mainstream television.
Also, in his interview with ESPN.com, UFC President confirmed that Chael Sonnen will be next in line for the reigning UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson "The Spider" Silva. Sonnen called out Silva immediately after his victory over Brian Stann at UFC 136, then adding a series of verbal blows in virtually every interview he made after the fight. Silva was "not so interested" in giving the "disrespectful punk" Chael Sonnen his rematch, but now it looks like the record-setting Champion has no choice but to fight the Oregonian:
"It's the fight that everybody wants to see. People want to see Chael vs. Anderson. Anderson is in this position where he feels like the guy is so disrespectful he doesn't want to give him a shot. But Anderson will end up fighting Chael. The answer is yes."

I hope we do see a new MW champ, but Buragash you should tone down the trash talking until it actually happens. I don't know if you've noticed but A S has some pretty impressive skills, I think it's going to be hell of a challenge for Sonnen but if anyone is up for it he is.
Besides this could very well be Chaels last fight, because he's stated if he can't be the champ there is no reason for him to be in this sport. So expect we will see the best Sonnen and Anderson for this fight!
chael wont beat anderson in the second fight. he has no other option but to adopt the same game plan as in the first fight, nothing in the next fight can suprise anderson. chael doesnt have knock out power, his submission game isnt exactly black belt standard and anderson fought with broken ribs. chael was impressive against brian stann but stann is on andersons level by any means. anderson will make an example out of chael if they fight again. then chael is left with nothing.

No, Anderson Silva doesn't have to fight Sonnen imho. As we already know, the last time they fought, he made Sonnen tap more than once. However, If they do fight again, clean or not clean, Chael will leave the cage with his tail between his legs.

Your seem to forget that Chael doesnt need a new gameplan...He just needs to stick to the same one, just not make a mistake in the last round again.

perhaps I'm being a bit rude in my last post, but A.S behavior lately reminds me of what happened to the sport of boxing he is getting to big and wanting to choose his fights, yes he is very skilled and will probably go down as the best of all time but at the moment I just want someone to beat him up and bring him and all his fans back to the ground. The only person that has a chance of doing that right now is chael and although chael is no saint, he is the only one that has a chance to dethrone the champ

It will be interesting to see what happens with Chael after he loses again. Will he talk his way to another title shot? Will he want to? Will he keep talking? It's hard to keep talking trash after failure. All this time Chael has hung his hat on winning 4 rounds. What will he hang his hat on after a second loss?

I think people are forgetting that Silvas Manager Ed Soares was the one "Talking" for Anderson over the last month and has done a pretty piss poor job representing his client.
Soares has already been fired by JDS and soon to be by the spider. I don't think the "Spider" is scared to fight Sonnen but may want other fights instead. But he will do whatever Uncle Dana tells him to do. This fight will happen at either UFC 142 in Brazil or Superbowl weekend in Vegas, and is going to be a great fight either way.

What would hurt Chael more getting beat by Anderson or being ignored a title shot and the $ that comes with it. Don't be foolish, Anderson is sick of Chael getting rich off of his fame and who wouldn't. Anderson proved himself to get to where he is and Chael is just cheating and talking his way. Wake up.
Weather Sonnen deserves it or not at least we will see a fight we want to see. I don't think he deserves a shot but I definetly want to see the fight.
Once again Falcon and I agree - it is a fight that will be entertaining. I think any MMA fan will enjoy it regardless of which side they're on.
I can't wait to see this fight. I'll go the obvious route and predict either a submission victory for Silva or a decision victory for Sonnen.
I suppose it's more than possible Silva could (T)KO him but I just don't think it'll play out that way (even though I'm sure Silva would love to literally shut him up). As for Sonnen ending the fight...well...crazier things have happened.

Silva could put away Chael with one flurry. Sonnen could turn the Spider into hamburger over 5 rounds. Or maybe anything in between.

How do you lose a fight , then fight one guy , and then UFC say your the top of division. Has Chael beat everyone in the division (no). Stann was a hand picked for him, but Stann hadn't fought any of the top fighters in the division , so how does fighting Stann bring Chael back to the top. Hopefully they fight in Vegas, strict drug testing

Chael had beat a lot of top contenders at MW to get his first title shot and even though he lost the fight, it was so competitive that Chael deserves a rematch, he is also the only guy to ever put a beating like that on AS. Also, Brian Stann was smashing his way through the MW division, and even though Chael was deserving of an immediate rematch, Dana said he would have to fight Stann, who had just KO'd Leben, for the number one contender spot AND for the next shot at Silva. Everyone thought Stann would beat Chael but Chael schooled Stann the same way he schooled Silva. So by beating Stann, who is a beast, period, he earned the number one contenders spot and the next shot at Silva, and because the first fight was so competitive. That's how Sonnen is next in line to answer your question!.....
MMA isn't a league sport with a structured ranking or playoff system. Generally if someone loses, they have to work through the ranks.
But it's hardly a rule. Ali fought Ken Norton twice in a row. Ditto for Sugar Ray and Roberto Duran.
Finally Dana shows the champ he can't face who he wants, he has to face who the UFC wants to put in front of him and right now Chael is without a doubt the n1 contender.

Just like boxing and I hate that analogy, The sactioning bodies and the machmakers decide who you will defend against. If you refuse, you will be stripped of your title ala Rid**** Bowe who threw his belt inthe trash can Or the Unbeaten Timothy Bradley who really has no belt.
I love Anderson and what he stands for and Can't stand Sonnen although his smack is often funny, but the reality is Chael has not only earned the #1 contender status but beat the crap out of Silva for longer than anyone has ever faced him in a fight. Injured before or not, If I were Silva and someone talked about smacking my wife on the ass, I would be less concerned about legacy and more about.....well you know!

Chael come clean after punishment with his skill set, he is deserved a rematch more than everyone else and business between these fighter not solve it ...Chael wanna prove that he is better fighter and Anderson himself healthy now wanna punish punk disrespect.
