So many topics covered lol. Hopefully we'll hear back soon from Chael. Interesting reasoning behind Escudero and Duffee. We also finally know why Josh Barnett will never be in the UFC...which makes sense

Sonnen has backed out of his appearance on ESPN's MMA Live scheduled for tonight.

it's disappointing but I stand by what I said early, that i will wait until ALL the facts come out.....and judging by what Dana said in this interview, there MUCH more to this story then the haters, media slugs and incompetent CSAC officials want you to believe.

Chael can spin this story anyway he wants either way it'll be a long dragged out process and Chael might be able to clear his name to a certain extent but will still most likely get fined and banned.

for everyone 'tryin' to bash me and badmouth chael these past few days

why dont you take it from the 'UFC President'

'theres still alot to come out about this story'

i will stick by what ive said previously, as capjo says until ALL the facts comeout????

besides this point UFC 119 looks like an awesome card!!!! and I cant wait!! even the prelims pose a threat to the main card for FOTN !!! and there are some great matchups on the main card!!

I think reading between the lines you can see Dana thinks its a mess. I think if cheal had a good excuse he d come right out and say it and dana would be endorsing it because cheal is/was such a commodity. The UFC had time to wait and see how cheals appeal goes. But they went and changed cards with out waiting for the appeal. that says alot.

"Theres more to this" im reading as chaels got an excuse and maybe a good one. But its not going to be good enough to warrant no suspension. And its going to be a mess in the mean time. thats why dana's washing his hands of it.

    @ Crippla -

(AKA "The Prodigious / AKA Defender of the Faith / AKA "Mr. White")

Yes - sucks the wind out of the detractors sails, but I'm pissed at DW.

Why didn't he say this a week ago? ...to the press.

    Go Mir! Go Bader!

White wasn't about to say anything until it's time to say it, which is exactly what he did. It's the way the business works.

Maybe Forrest will be on the New Years card the UFC is planning. I think 2 of these 3 fights will be on it Silva v Belfort, Penn v Hughes, Edgar v Maynard. It would be great to see him back so i'm keeping my fingers crossed.

What in the world could be chaels mistery excuse for using PEDrugs?

Dana did not seem conserned so it must not be a big deal. Its funny how dana works. He gives the boot to fighters that seem not 2 deserve it, but others like chael, hay no big deal, roids?, not a big deal? he should be kicked out and forced to fight in SF.

    I'm confused.

well yeah cuz Silva just came back from what he did in abu dhabi and was told to perform now or else get cut. If he tested positive for PED's then it would show he didnt care about being in the UFC. This is Sonnen's first time offense and promoted the hell outta the UFC and really wants to stay in the UFC. No reason for Dana to cut him. If he messes up again then yeah maybe.

I just watched the vid again and its almost like dana is sorry that he tested positive and is saying we should feel sorry for him boo hoo. the CAC is going to fine him and take his job away from him. Well thats the rules why is that so hard to get even for dana. I bet chael is going to argue that someone put something in his protein drink when he was not looking. Please give me a break. It better be a good one.

I am not sure I agree with those that say Dana is attempting to garner sympathy for Chael... I also do not agree with those who say he needs to take further action. What I believe he is saying is that this is not an issue that the UFC needs to intervene in. He figures why take further action at this time when the CSAC's course of action has been sufficient at this point. We have no idea what the UFC or Dana will do once Sonnen has had his chance to plead his case.

Finally someone says something that makes sense.

Fans who actually 'listen" to what White says will understand how this all works, and why he hasn't said anything up until now. Certain things he has no power over, and he is only commenting on what he can.

My question to DW is this - why did it take you this long to say something, on the subject of Sonnen and the CSAC findings? He could have said this (to the press) a week, ago.

And why as an answer to a question, from what is, ostensibly, nothing more then an Internet blogger. I love Ariel stuff, he's great, however, he is not SI.com, or MMA Connected, ESPN, TSN et. al.

And I think Dana's...aw shucks....attitude, in terms of it having nothing to do with him....it's the government...and all that, is irresponsible. He was the promoter on the fight. Sonnen is under contract to the UFC. I think he has / had an obligation, to the fans.

His words (here) - go a long way to sucking the wind out of Sonnen's detractors; "more to the story" and all that.

...DW is great at many things and pretty bad at some others; explaining controversies in a timely and efficient manner to the public, is not one of them.

Dana is an incredibly smart business man. I wouldnt put it past him that he held out on commenting earlier in the week so that more reporters would be at the prefight press conference.

Guys, UFC is a company, a business organization. Name me a company that is so upfront with its business process? Do you know any multinational of the size of the UFC where its CEO or owner give interviews justifying the companies business moves...? Have you ever heard a CEO explaining why he fired or released is employees? People complain without any reason. Dana White speaks more than he had to, way more. No other company does that, no other company tries to explain everything to his fans or "customers". He doesnt have to explain or justiffy shit. The fact that he does its really a plus. Still people like to complain, goes with our human nature I guess...

Thyere is a very good reason why DW speaks in reaction to complaints, and sometimes he talks *****, sometimes he talks sense and does know more that the average fan knows. The reason is he is head of the premier MMA organisation and it's a growing sport. If he runs it completely hypocritically and adopts too much favouritism, it's champions lose legitimacy. Will Belfort be a legitimate champion should he beat Silva? He will have only had 1 fight at MW. And while you are right he doesn't have to answer to anyone other than those he works with and employs, he has to answer to be taken seriously otherwise it looks like a joke of an organisation.

Based on all the interviews I have seen with Josh Barnett, I don't believe what Dana White says. Where's the cross reference [x]. ?? I'm sure Mr.White is putting words into Josh's mouth.
