Dana White: Silva doesn't want to fight Sonnen, but I'm working to make it happen

The event will be headlined by Nick Diaz's return to the Octagon against BJ Penn, after a long history of missed press conferences, media calls and speculations whether Cesar Gracie's product is going to make it into the Mandalay Bay Events Center. Dana White also related to the potential rematch between Chael Sonnen and Anderson Silva, claiming that he's still working on putting this fight together. White revealed Siva doesn't want to fight "the disrespectful punk" Sonnen, who according to "The Spider" should be denied a title shot for crossing the line with his verbal outbursts. White admitted that if Chael Sonnen got under Silva's skin so bad, the UFC Middleweight Champion should simply step up to the occasion and punish the Oregonian by himself.

You make a good point, but to say a champ like Edgar is taking it too far(or anyone else in MMA for that matter). Edgar is a good champ but he still doesn't have even half the successful title defenses Silva has. Silva already beat Sonnen with a dramatic finish. Typically in fighting people have to work their way back up the ladder to get another title shot and not bully their way in by talking smack. I don't think Silva is scared..just possibly annoyed with the tactics used by Sonnen to get back in the title picture. Other than that, I do agree that he should just beat Sonnen again, shut him up, and move on. However, he doesn't have to put on a "champ act." His actions in the cage (14-0 in the UFC at the highest level) speaks for itself.
Edgar dont have the title defenses but his division is the best mma has ever seen and he's still wearing the belt.

I think it may also be that he's super pissed that Chael is getting royal treatment after his recent past. But wether he's scared or not, I definetly believe Silva is the better fighter. I am all for this fight but I can definetly understand the anger of seeing a cheat like Chael getting another shot so soon. mons are u slow? Why would I wanna watch a fight with a clear victor? Silva won by obvious triangle choke, it wasnt a controversial decision. It was a submission VICTORY over a guy who was using Roids. There are others in the division who should get the shot first, which is what Silva is iterating (if u have followed other interviews). Silvas team has stated he only has approx 4 fights left in his prime (they estimate) why would u just continue beating the same guy? that does nothing for ur legacy especially after a guy (like Chael) was on steroids and in trouble with the law?
I dont blame Silva. Although, with that said, he should fight someone to heighten his legacy, like for example Jones, etc.

I've agreed with you from the beginning Chael about this hard attempted duck by Silva and Soares. Fair is fair, whether some guys like you or they don't. I respect many of the guys on the boards from this site. Some interesting opinions. Having said that, perhaps now a few more of them will stop giving Anderson Silva the benefit of the doubt to the degree that they have and start accepting this plain and simple duck for what it is.

As the champion you are supposed to take on all comers, no questions, not choose who you want to fight yourself, whatever the reason may be. honestly, if i was AS i wouldn't want to fight Chael either. Chael somehow justified him taking steroids and being able to compete legitimately, but everything this guy says is a lie (he is a politician). I think AS doesn't want to give Chael a chance because he cheated and he still lost. I would honestly rather see Vitor Belfort vs Chael for the #1 contender before any of that. Both fighters are extremely aggressive and have been finished by AS. Seeing how Anderson Silva toyed with Okami makes it hard for me to believe he's scared of losing or w/e most people think.
