Dana White says P4P lists "are a fraud"

UFC President Dana White unleashed another attack on his "enemies", claiming that the current Pound-for-Pound lists are a fraud. White stated that various websites get paid by MMA promotions to put certain fighters higher in the ranks. UFC President's own P4P King, Anderson Silva, will get a (possibly) last chance to prove his worth against "The Voice of Oregon" Chael Sonnen, at UFC 118 in Boston.

Fedor's near loss to Rogers does not suggest P4P best in the world, sorry.

There was no near loss! He took one jab, got pinned against the cage for a few seconds and ate some gnp that looked better than it actually was. That is it. He was never in trouble in that fight. Personally, I would rank him higher that A.S. because once you take away the fat he is actually about the same size and he would likely take Silva to the ground and gnp Silva to oblivion.

Exactly! People forget how much Fedor weighs and it has to be considered in a p4p debate because the heavyweight division is a 60 poound range. I can't imagine anybody alive Fedors weight or below that he cannot beat decisively.

He was mounted and almost lost. Any objective person would admit that. Any objective person would also admit that Overroids smashed Rogers much more decisively than Fedor did.

he ate 2 punches and rolled for an armbar...when you see him knocked out THEN you can question his chin and speculate how close to defeat he was.

and he wasn't mounted, rogers was in his guard

if he wasnt in trouble when 320 lbs K1 lvl striker was pounding on him, then i dont see how he was near loss in a Rogers fight..or maybe you saw a different fight?

or was maybe anderson in trouble against TRAVIS LUTTER,a guy who is not in top 30 middleweights(which is probably the weakest MMA division),just before he threw the fight??

Near lost to Rogers? What crack did you smoke? Did you even saw the fight? His nose was jacked up and thats about it! Fedor never lost a fight NEVER! This cut thing dousnt count. Thats why he has to be on the first place of the p4p list until he gets beaten. I meen he fought so many great guys in their PRIME... . Dana would talk different, when fedor would have signed the contract PERIOD

i disagree. Fedor WAS the best P4P in the planet when he fought the best in regular period. But , im sorry but he hes not anymore. He dont fight at the same rate then the other ufc fighter and the level of competition is not the same. Fedor is one of the greatest fighter and deserve a place in mma Hall of fame for sure ( when this gonna exist). but he's not fighting the best ppl in the world so he can't be in my book the best P4P. Dodging fight, or the stupid M-1 not wanting to see his investment loose is bad for his reputation as a fighter imo.

i like the guy, and want to see him still undefeated but against overeem, brock, velasquez, carwin, mir etc. etc.

well in that case Anderson Silva shouldnt be on the p4p list either!

i mean he hasent fought any top competition in the middleweight division since UFC 82 , so you can even rank him in the p4p list either

if youre talking about who has fought the most top level guys in their division and still beat them then GSP is the best p4p

i mean koscheck, hughes, serra, fitch,bj ,alves, hardy and koscheck again then theres no doubt hes the best p4p

silva has been fighting guys like cote, leithes, maia none of those were in the top 5 list

at least Fedor fought guys who were way bigger on size and weight

and still beat them and by impresive fashion KO's and submission

A Silva beat his guys by Desicions

Does Dana know what p4p means!!! Even if Fedor was to fight Carwin and Brock and lose, that wouldn't drop Fedor down. Those guys weigh 280 in the cage! Fedor weighs 230??? I'm not saying Fedor is the best heavyweight but he is definitely in the conversation for p4p. Dana kills me with that crap.

You are 100% correct japanegro23, Dana obviously has no idea what pound for pound means. It means that if you took 1 pound of Fedor and it fought 1 pound of Brock, 1 pound of Fedor would beat the shit out of 1 pound of Brock no doubt.

I mean Silva walks around at like 220 from what I hear and Fedor walks around at 230. It's absolutely insane to rank GSP above Fedor.

But yeah Fedor wouldn't need to be the best HW in the world to be the top P4P but the fact that his just makes it such an easy call.

Fedor walks around at 230, Silva at 210-220, GSP at 190. Fedor however beats guys that walk around at 280 that is a solid 50 pounds over Fedor himself.

Every Fedor fight is dynamic, without any stalling or to much feeling out.He won every possible matchup,in almost every possible way.Dana talks about level of competition fedor faces..look at the fighters anderson silva has beaten..not ONE of them was EVER in their career close to top 10 fighters, with the exception of Dan Henderson, and MAYBE Rich Franklin. If there is one fighter that is not getting tested its Anderson.

When Werdum was fighting Cigano he was hyped to the point of beeing one of the greatest HWeights, now when he is fighting Fedor he is almost played down to not even be in top 20...

I would respect Dana a lot more if he would admit that he doesnt own ALL of the best fighters in the world, although he does own most of them

Don't get me wrong I'm definitely pro-Fedor, and I think he arguably should be somewhere on the P4P list. However guys we can't deny reality - Fedors competition in the past few years has been pretty low. His opponents have been incredibly inconsistent fighters. Again I think Fedor's the man, but I don't think his competition for literally the past five years has proven it. I"m sorry guys but since about '05 - '06 his competition has been a JOKE (other than Cro Cop) - Arlovski, Sylvia, Lidland, Choi, Rogers (yeah yeah I know, undefeated until he met Fedor, but he hadn't really fought anyone major UNTIL fedor), etc - don't get me wrong alot of these guys have BEEN great but not in their prime and incredibly inconsistent when they fought fedor. Werdum could be interesting for sure.

Fedor simply hasn't fought many top HW's for years . . . we all know he's great, but beating those guys doesn't prove it when there's Carwins, Brocks, Cains, Santos out there for him. We shall see what the future holds.

Maxwell provides a rational perspective on Fedor. Who has he fought recently? I have virtually all of the Pride fights you can get on DVD. Some of those fights were great. At that point, Pride's line-up was arguably as good if not better than the UFC's (ocasional freak-shows aside). However, think about his competition the past few years. Both Arlovski And Sylvia had lost their UFC titles and contracts a few years before fighting him. Lindland is a light heavyweight, at best, amd has fought at 185 and 195 Lbs. Choi is a genetic freak with modest skills. Rogers is a big dude who had had weak competition.

Fedor is keeping the image going by taking on tomato-cans. Eventually he'll bite the bullet for a UFC contract when there's little money to be made elsewhere. He'll then be exposed after a tune-up fight or two. Dana will love it.

Fedor rump-swabs wake up!!! If your guy is so tough, why isn't he moving to the UFC like Jake Shields??? He's maximizing his brand name, keeping the Fedor myth alive, and cashing in in a measured way. It's probable the smart thing to do. If he goes to the UFC and get's creamed within 2-3 fights, what next???

He is right. P4P lists are a fraud and there will most likely never be any true way to determine who the best P4P fighters are, only speculations. If MMA ended 100 years from now I suppose they could look back and tabulate a list based on the facts and stats, but even then there would be controversy, so it's basically a useless discussion where everyone has their own opinions, so it should be left at that.

No trying to get in on the Fedor-discussion, but the argument that he is the best because he fights heavy guys is really flawed. The heavyweight division is the technically weakest division (I think no one will disagree here) and a lot of guys from lower weight divisions could destroy heavyweights, especially the ones really lacking technique (Rogers being a prime example here IMO). Most heavyweights are far from being well-rounded and Fedor definitely is, so he can just survive the opponent's strength (even if he is inferior here) and counter with whatever the opponent is weak at.

I am not saying that this is entirely the fighters' fault, some skills are much more difficult to achieve with a huge body or not so effective at heavyweight. I guess there is a reason why we don't see the 250 pound version of a BJ Penn or Jose Aldo.

I don't know what the outcome would be, but seeing Fedor fight some UFC guys would definitely catch my attention.

I happen to think that Fedor is a very dangerous fighter and a highly ranked HW but definately not the p4p best. The last HW of any real relevance he fought was Rogers, who he didn't exactly dominate, Rogers dominated the first round and inflicted a lot of damage with his ground and pound. At the end of the day, you can't say Fedor is the p4p best when he hasn't fought any of the best HW's out there and he only fights like twice a year fgs, and who's he fighting next?.......Werdum....wtf. When he's beaten the likes of Lesnar, Carwin, Mir or any other top UFC HW contender then maybe he can be considered, he's avoiding that option every way he can however you slice it, hell, he doesn't even want to fight Overeem because he doesn't like the odds of him losing, and in turn losing his (so called)p4p best crown, which is also his biggest bargaining tool.

It does seem that he doesn't want to fight top competition and there is really no way anyone can argue against that because clearly that's what is happening. I'm also tired of everybody blaming his manager Vlad and M1 for everything. He is the guy that says what goes in his fighting career, he's the guy that gets in there and fights, nobody else. Fedor is good but he's not THAT good.........:D

BJ Penn, GSP, A.Silva are all on record as saying they regard Fedor as p4p #1. They are the other best fighters in the world whose opinion carries more weight than anyone as they can appreciate what it takes to win 30 fights and never have an "off" night. Just cos Dana keeps spouting his BS dont mean all the gullible idiots have to echo it. For the record Fedors recent resume is better than any UFC HW's when matchingup last 3 fights as to who was in top 10 at time of fights. That is fact not some propaganda dribble drummed up by a greedy American.

Which top 10 are you referring to? Would you really consider Rogers a top 10 fighter now that we have seen him getting hit by some real competition? IMO he never belonged anywhere near top 10.

What do you think Fedor's answer would be if he was asked for his opinioin on who is the p4p king? I don't think that anyone can answer the question with his own name, simply because of image reasons, it's the same as making a fair impression by not voting for oneself in whatever vote.

The argument doesn't get any better if you repeat it. There is no such thing as "officially in top 10" because there simply is no official ranking system in MMA. If you are referring to the sherdog-ranking, then you are maybe not aware of them also having a p4p-ranking where Fedor is only number 3. This is also "official" I guess?!
