Two things pissed me off in this interview enough to comment.

    1) Allistar Overeem is fighting in K! and wins it...and he is claiming that he is an MMA fighter. This is HUGE for MMA and it's reputation. For Dana White to dismiss it as nothing is very very dispespectful. This is a sport that has made this man millions and Overeem in one night has made cynics on the level of MMA striking take it very very seriously.

and 2) Scott Smith is nothing more than a fighter who comes to every single fight and puts on a show, win, lose, or draw. Three fighters come to mind when I think of a for sure good fight...Lytle, Smith, and Wand. If he is such a joke...take him off all the promos of his knocking out Pete Sell. Every time you see a knockout reel it is on there. Respect the fighters that made your company. Very fair weather friend is Dana White.

Dana is right about the competition in Strikeforce v.s. UFC. Generally in the UFC the people fighting each other are of similar skill levels which leads to more decisions.

As the sport continues to grow there will be more and more decisions because the competition will be so great. If you remember back in the day rarely decisions occured because ground fighters had no stand up and would get killed on the feet if they couldn't get it to the ground and vice versa.

In Strikeforce there are some fights that are very lopsided in regards the levels of fighters. I think Babalu was a fair match for Hendo, both with lots of experience and Hendo looked great. But Dana is right Lindland v.s. Lawler you knew Lindland was going to sleep. Big foot fighting a guy who should fight at 205 on a weeks notice, while Kyle put on a great show you had to expect the out come that occured. etc.

strikeforces card was three rock hands vs three glass chins...just because all the names were recognizable didnt mean it was a competitive card, ha all six of those guys got their names from the ufc anyways

I don't buy the Lawler Lindland mismatch argument. People are talking a lot about Lindland's losses of late. But look who he lost to: Jacare (current champ), Vitor Belfort and Fedor. Before that he officially lost to Rampage in a fight many (including myself) think he won. Lindland's only mistake was trying to stand with Lawler, if he'd been a bit more cautious, he could well have won it on the ground.

Also, keep in mind that given the history between them, it is impossible for Dana to be objective on this one (well...it's impossible for him to be objective on anything, but especially anything to do with matt Lindland.)

Anderson: Chael, Damien, Forrest, Leites, Cote

GSP: Kos, hardy, Alves, Penn, Fitch , No disrespect to anderson, but it's a fact.

its impossible to have an interview with Dana where he will actually admits that another promotion did better than the UFC... he is saying that Strikeforce had mismatches????? give me a break... what about Silva vs Leites? MISMATCH... Silva vs Maia? MISMATCH... Dana, just admit that Strikeforce can put good show even though they are the "minor leagues"...

@jipariente, well Maia was a last min. replacement for when Belfort got injured n Leites was on like a 5 fight win streak which included win over Nate so he was prolly the best option at that point and I agree with Dana about the mismatches, SF had a LHW fight a top ten HW, a 40 yr old fight a 28 yr old who has some of the best striking in the MW division n a brawler fight Daley who has top 10 striking in MMA n top 3 in WW imo

Maia might have been a last min replacement but still he did not deserve the chance... smae as leites... having win streak doesnt mean anything.. what about Fitch... has win so many fight and still is another working bee... and age is not a factor on MMA... Randy couture can still beat a lot of young guys... and if thats the case what about MArk Coleman vs Shogun... shogun was just in terribel shape but still you can put them together..

Kyle was a last minute replacement too. Show must go on and props to fighters that sign the line with very little preparation.

BS Daley is top 10. The guy has no ground game. ANY fighter who takes him to the ground wins. If Smith has taken him down he would have won.

what are you talking about? daley got controlled by a top class wrestler in koscheck. he showed good ability to gain back his guard and get to his feet. he is a top 10 welterweight

There are way more than ten WW who can destroy him, hence he is NOT top ten. The kid is mediocre.

GSP, Fitch, Kos, Shields, Nick Diaz, Diego Sanchez, Paulo Thiago, Matt Hughes, BJ Penn and Thiago Alves would all, IMHO Destroy Daley.

Carlos Condit would also beat Paul Daley as would Matt Serra IF he got it to the ground.

Tyrone Woodley, Evangelista Cyborg and Roger Bowling also have a good chance of beating Daley although Bowling might get reckless and get KOd.

    @ichoke people

Diego Sanchez, Paulo Thiago, Matt Hughes

none of these fighters would. im not too sure about nick diaz either, if the fight got to the ground then maybe but on the feet he will get ktfoed

diego would ge taken out of it on the feet, daley has more power then bj (in my opinion) and diego got seriously rocked by bj

paulo thiago wouldnt either. i love the guy and all very exciting fighter but i dont think he could take daley just yet

Hypothetical yes but ALL top ten lists and any other kind of list other that a fighter's actual record are hypothetical. The fact of the matter is that every fighter that I mentioned has a better skill set than Daley. The kid is an incredible striker but in MMA he is mediocre.

Dana is afraid of Overeem destroying his hype machine. Overeem started in MMA and kick boxing at the same time and has WAY more MMA fights. Dana White disseminating misinformation about Alistair is all the proof I need that he is afraid.

I bet when Overeem's contract expires UFC will try to get him, only reason Dana white isnt saying that rite now is cause he doesnt wnt to admit that SF has good fighters just like Shields he'll try to get Overeem, Diaz n Melendez

One problem though; champion clause. If these guys are champion, they can't leave SF and Dana won't let them fight outside the UFC. If they loose their championships in SF, Dana will say they aren't good enough for the UFC.

He sometimes talks sense but he is so much of a hypocrite also. He cuts guys for losing but now says he likes guys to go for it and try and finish. What is a UFC fighter supposed to think?

An UFC fighter should be supposed 2 think he wanna finnish that fight!!!

Listen son if u r trying compare the Stevenson fight with the Harris-falcao u r all wrong... its a huge difference losing a fight goin for the kill.. and going for points.. Harris being cut made me happy cuz DANA showd me hes also tired of those boring fight lately... HARRIS what not engeaging 2 a fight while still he was losing.. dont make sence 2 let him fight agn.. BRAVO DANA.. SO BASICLY A UFC FIGHTER SHOULD BAWARE OF NOT BEING BORING!!... BUT ITS OK 2 LOOSE IF U PUT UP a FIGHT!! with that said u can loose ten in a row,.. and still be in ufc as long u putting up fights.. and u can win 5 in a row being boring an loose 1 being boring and u still gonna get cut 4 being BOOORRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING!! THOSE IT MAKE SENCE 4 U FIGHT FANS?????

the more comments I read on this site, the more I come to realize that almost everyone on here has something 2 say about DW. But what people dont realize is DW is a great business man and he knows his stuff. When ever he makes a comment about anything there are about 12-14 folks on here that have a coniption fit (I think most of them work for SF/fedar).

This reminds me so much of politics its not even funny

If you type like that, I'd hate to hear your views on politics anyway.

Everyone's aware Dana's a good buisnessman, there's no question there. It's his way of going about it that pisses most people off. He doesn't have a great rep. with alot of the fighters, but most of the fighters he has a bad rep. with have one themselves.

About knowing his stuff, that's up for debate. He does say a lot of stupid things on camera which come back to haunt him, but it's usually balanced out by semi-intelligent things.

Also, if you don't like this site, feel free to leave. I don't think anyone would notice lol.
