rampage won the first to rounds machida did nothing but run, rampage was the pushing the fight and judges will always go for the guy who pushes the fight in a close round, rampage won 2-1
3 leg kicks doesnt exactly score you as winning the round. RAmpage controlled the cage and pushed the action with aggresiveness. He always had machida running backwards and thats why Machida lost the round.
I agree with the decision they had. And I think Rampage was just trying to be funny at the end of the fight guys, stop taking that as a sign for conspiracy
While I felt Machida won the first and third rounds, I didn't feel it was a bad decision. The first round was a tossup. Machida landed slightly more shots, but Rampage was clearly the aggressor and did more damage.
In a real fight nobody won this one. if it was roundless and endless that would be the only way we really see but that is not such a good idea with equally matched opponents. look at gracie vs sakuraba, they fought for over an hour and still there was no real winner.
Your looking at total strikes, but that includes little baby punches that do no damage. Look at the significant strikes. Machida was clearly the more "effective" striker.
...I'm hoping the same thing too. Fitch just doesn't finish fights even though he has opponents in dangerous positions. I love the wrestling part of the game but that dude just doesn't do anything with it besides control them.
I gotta agree with you. Altho wrestling is a fundamental aspect of the sport and is a necessity in todays fights, Jon Fitch gives a whole new meaning to boring fights. I mean I give him credit, he does what I cant do, its just not the most exciting fight and they(joe rogan and mike goldberg) said it sometime during the last ufc i believe but they said "you gotta win fights and put on exciting fights to get to that title fight" cuz truthfully every fan would rather an exciting 5 rounder
falcao wasnt the main event, he was on the main card. hes a beast? what did he do? he showed signs of a good fighter but nothing to make me go WOW! please get machidas nuts out of you mouth. he lost that fight.
Penn looses two fights in a row, inclusive of a title defense and a title shot, he skulks out of his division to come up to 170 and fights a guy he had handled in their first fight and was handling in their second fight until he gassed, knocks this same opponent out in 21 seconds of their third match, gets his next fight "made" within hours and he's told that the winner of that fight will fight for The Champ for the title.
Who else gets that type of treatment?
I think that's an insult to a lot of fighters and starting with Jake Shields. I thought Shields has been told / promised the next shot. What about Diego Sanchez, he looked amazing in his last fight? What about Condit? What about Chris Lytle?
To me - Penn's performance last night did not put him on the road to a title shot. Hughes himself was "maybe" on the road to a title shot, so how does beating a guy who was "maybe" on it, put you on it?
This is just more BJ Penn favoritism, by Dana White. He should go back to 155 and earn his belt back, because he ain't never going to be champ of 170; he doesn't have the size, skill, power, cardio or heart to pull it off.
If Dana is so into rematches and Penn is staying at 170, then why didn't he match him up against Diego and give Fitch, Jake Shields? To me that would have been a better match and more interesting match. What's Fitch going to do with Penn? This will be another boring display of Fitch's wrestling skills; Fitch 30 - 27.
The reason it would be interesting is that there would be real competition in that fight for Fitch. Fitch is used to guys that can't hang with him on the ground and so he is able to practically relax once he's on the ground but someone with great ground game will make him pay for not going the extra mile.

dana watch the fight again.. machida clearly won the 1st round and the 3rd round...
i think so too that was a bs decision from the juedges! But no disrespect to rampage cuz rampage himself knew he lost.
rampage won the first to rounds machida did nothing but run, rampage was the pushing the fight and judges will always go for the guy who pushes the fight in a close round, rampage won 2-1
Machida's game plan backfired on him. Rampage pushed the pace and stayed active. Machida should go on dancing with the stars.
true, let's recapitulate:
Rampage stalked and looked dangerous
Machida hit with strikes and kicks
and Rampage wins? Is this the Ultimate Looking Championship.
Rampage knows, listen to the man.
3 leg kicks doesnt exactly score you as winning the round. RAmpage controlled the cage and pushed the action with aggresiveness. He always had machida running backwards and thats why Machida lost the round.

You guys dont quite understand the scoring system used by the judges.
1) Who landed MORE shots in round 1 and 2
2) Who was the more AGGRESSIVE fighter in 1 and 2
MAchida won the 3rd. Agreed.
Split Decision to Rampage = Correct Result
While I felt Machida won the first and third rounds, I didn't feel it was a bad decision. The first round was a tossup. Machida landed slightly more shots, but Rampage was clearly the aggressor and did more damage.
UFC scoring is BS. Fights aren't fought in rounds, but cumulative damage, danger and strategy. In a REAL fight, Machida won.
Again, this round by round scoring is bullshit.
In a real fight nobody won this one. if it was roundless and endless that would be the only way we really see but that is not such a good idea with equally matched opponents. look at gracie vs sakuraba, they fought for over an hour and still there was no real winner.

Yea...not more damage at all. Rampage knew he didn't do damage, so did i, and the fightmetric shows it.
Check the Total Strikes on the Fightmetric. Based on that here are the results
Round 1 Rampage
Round 2 Rampage
Round 3 Machida
Machida may have had more significant strikes his lack of aggression cost him the fight
Your looking at total strikes, but that includes little baby punches that do no damage. Look at the significant strikes. Machida was clearly the more "effective" striker.
Yes but that has less weight in terms of points from judges
Very bad match up for BJ why would they do this !
I know... I'll honestly be happy if he takes out Fitch though but, it's going to be hard cause Fitch is going to be on him like flies on shit.
Because they are hoping that BJ can get rid of Fitch so they do not have to give him his shot, plus the win would fast track Penn into the title mix.
...I'm hoping the same thing too. Fitch just doesn't finish fights even though he has opponents in dangerous positions. I love the wrestling part of the game but that dude just doesn't do anything with it besides control them.

Yah this makes little sense to me. Fitch is VERY hard to finish, and i think BJ's only chance is a quick stoppage.
falcao wasnt the main event, he was on the main card. hes a beast? what did he do? he showed signs of a good fighter but nothing to make me go WOW! please get machidas nuts out of you mouth. he lost that fight.
I'd don't get it.

Fitch Ellenberger woulda made alot more sense
fitch vs shields interesting? .... seriously? IDK
The reason it would be interesting is that there would be real competition in that fight for Fitch.
