gsp turned the tide on kos by saying if koscheck loses to him twice in a row he goes way down the ladder. up until that point i thought the pressure was on gsp potentialy losing his belt in his hometown. GSP is pumped

My thoughts exactly man. GSP did look almost nervous going in, but to show that kind restraint for the entire season's taping, for all the time while it was airing, the last two weeks since it finished, listening to that fuzzy-headed little prick drone on and on with the most unclever, childish insults in the history of the sport, without end, and then pull out something that simple and powerful... GSP's Jedi mind tricks have to be more effective than any typical trash talk anyone else could come up with.

This is better than BJ's kiss.

I like GSP, but to compare his fame to Wayne Gretzky seems like a stretch ...

Do all of the 6,775,235,741 people in the world know who GSP is? I think the World Gallup Poll you ran is a bit skewed. Heck my Wife (A fellow canadian) has no clue who he is. I guess you could account for this because we live in an igloo.

We don't have hockey here in Greece either, but I know who Wayne Gretzky is ;-) GSP is not that famous yet, BUT he has the potential to surpass Gretzy's reputation and other great athletes in the future.

If MMA was an Olympic Sport, that future would seem much more closer for him.

Let me explain Gretzky to you non-Canadians. He dominated hockey in a way the Pele, Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Muhammad Ali and Lance Armstrong dominated their sports. Dana is right. GSP is probably more famous world wide but in the hockey world Gretzky was more dominant. He made other players look like kids. Google search his records.

As a Canadian I will tell you though......they're both great! That's they way we make'em up here!

Congratulations to the USA on the Olympic Silver Medal!!

If you go to www.googlefight.com and enter gretzky and GSP or St Pierre then GSP wins hands down.

    You can't argue with googlefight

I am not disputing that GSP is a more well known name world wide. I just thought it was funny that you made it out like GSP is known by everyone in the world, when as I said there are many Canadians who do not know who he is.

Turn the tide he did. I can't see Koscheck winning this, no way shape or form. He boasts about his striking ability, but he didn't dare stand with Daley. He watched tape on GSP vs Hardy on how to deal with a pure striker; take him down, and Kos did just that. Layed on Daley and whispered sweet nothings into his ear all night. Not sure about you guys, but if a sweaty dude lay on me for 15 minutes, taunting me on the ground, I'd get up and shoot him. A love tap at the end of the fight was nothing compared to the strike Daley ended his latest fight with.

Kos is going to come in strong, probably rush across the octagon, throw a strike and in a split second, GSP will have him on the ground eating elbows. I called a win for GSP via headkick, but I can see GSP armbarring Koscheck early.

he's probably right about the fame subject, about 60% of world population are asian and they don't give a shit abot hockey, but a lot of them love MMA...

if you look at it without asia, then gretzky is more famous...

well if you are going to take 60% of the worlds population out then of corse gretzky is more famous because you have just wiped out 60% of the population. you cant make a statment like that.

Hockey is pretty lame with a hundred pounds of padding compared to MMA. Dana loves arguing with someone he knows he can talk over.

100lbs of padding my ass. If it weights 30 lbs Id be surprised. Also, when a 240lb man going at 20 Mile/hr (32 KM/hr) hits you into the boards or in an open ice hit its devistating. Some players can skate upwards 30 miles/hr (48 km/hr). If you know anything about physics you will know this is a large amount of kinetic evergy, especially if they are going in opposity directions. I guess my point is without padding a typicaly hockey player would be in a wheelchair by age 15. Check this vidoe out:

Also, when someone slaps a hard peice of rubber at you at 100 MPH you damn well better have the right gear on.

Trying to explain the epicness, speed, skill, intensity, passion, danger, [...] of hockey to people who don't know the sport, can't watch it and can't get behind a team is impossible. But it continues to grow, becoming bigger in Europe (especially former non-hockey nations like Britain and Germany, but even to a certain extent in places like Italy and France) and even certain spots in South America and Asia.

Clearly it will never be as universally acceptable and understood as fighting, which is as basic as eating and breathing, but it will always be more exciting, skilled and fast than soccer. I think we can all at least agree on that. (North American/non-British European comments only.)

Bahahaha as if MANCHESTER STORM has anything to do with world-class hockey. LOL what a joke bud. I have a team of six friends I could put together in 5 minutes that would run through most of the teams in Europe. Try watching a pro game. Judging hockey based on a British team is like watching two black kids wail on each other outside of their middle-school and saying afterward that you don't like MMA.
