Dana White confirms Wanderlei Silva vs. Brian Stann is still on for UFC 130
Posted on February 6, 2011, 09:19 PM by Joey SantosusWhile conflicting reports have surfaced in recent days, it appears that the Middleweight bout between Wanderlei Silva and Brian Stann will, in fact, be a part of the UFC 130 line-up.
The match-up was said to be confirmed on last week's UFC.com Ultimate Insider show, however reports began to surface indicating that Silva would not be recovered from his recent knee surgery in time to prepare for the bout.
UFC President Dana White reportedly shed light on the matter, stating that despite Silva's reluctance, the fight is still set for the May 28th card.
"It's on," White insisted. "It's on."
Silva originally expressed a desire to face Chris Leben upon his return. However, Stann stated on numerous occasions after defeating Leben, that he would now like to fight Silva. Wanderlei Silva has been sidelined since February 21st of 2010, when he defeated Michael Bisping via a Unanimous Decision at UFC 110: Nogueira vs. Velasquez.
UFC 130 will be headlined by Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard III and is set to take place May 28th from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Good fight...Win over Stann would put Wand in the mix and if he loses I wouldn't mind Belfot/Wand II
Wand is underrated IMO, especially considering his potential as a middleweight.. I think with his recent repairs he will be very improved and most definitely beat a guy like Stann.
I think Stann is going to win because he KO'd Leben, and Wanderlei's last fight was at UFC 110 and their fighting at UFC 130.
Good points but Leban was also sick so that has to be considered as well. I hope that Wandy wins but Stann is looking dangerous.
Well both Leben and Wanderlei has a wild fighting style and Stann could catch him. But Wanderlei could catch Stann too but im still going with Stann plus he trains with Greg Jackson
belcher should fight fight okami since it looks like okami isn't getting a title shot any time soon
Stan.
spell it right and maybe he'll have a chance.
@ Wand
I didn't realize the Department of Homeland Spelling was monitoring this site or this thread. Is there a ticket or fine I have to pay? Are you correcting the spelling of all on LowKick? Do you do grammar as well or just spelling? If you do grammar, you might want to start with your own and begin your sentence(s) with a capital letter; set a good example and all that.
With that said though, I do appreciate you drawing it to my attention that I negated to hit my "n" key a second time and posted without reviewing my (one word) work. I can only imagine the confusion I must have caused with anyone who read it and asking themselves...who is Stan? A tip of the cap in your direction for being able to unravel and decipher the subtle difference, that it was a misspelling and conclude that I was actually talking about Brian Stann...on a thread about Brian Stann.
Cheers for your diligence and correction,
Wing Chun
Geez everyone knows it's Stan for short anyways haha.
Stann could tko him just like leben of he puts the pressure on wandy and charges him with strikes.
i like how i was weaked for that, but i think stann is ah huge up and comer, and i think wandy is kinda done, i love him to death but stann is just ah beast.
15 month's in between fights for Wand? That's a very long time to be away from the ring.
Awesome fight
Someone definetly get knocked out here.
i dont see wand silva winning this one
