Dana White: I am beyond disappointed in Nick Diaz

UFC President Dana White returned to the United States today after spending time in Brazil filming the upcoming season of “The Ultimate Fighter.” White was probably looking forward to spending some time decompressing from his hectic schedule when he returned to Vegas, instead he was faced with Nick Diaz testing positive during his UFC 143 drug test.

Shortly after the Nevada State Athletic Commission released the news that Diaz had been found to have marijuana metabolites in his sample, the UFC released a statement from White, "I am beyond disappointed that he tested positive for marijuana. It is now in the hands of the Nevada State Athletic Commission."

This is the second failed drug test in Diaz’s MMA career. His first, a positive marijuana test in 2007 earned him a six-month suspension.

What do you think LowKick’ers, what would an appropriate penalty be from the NSAC and how will the UFC react?

An appropriate punishment would be no punishment at all. It's weed. Lighten up NSAC.

They know or should know it has no advantages in MMA. It is only cause its an illegal substance. Even though anybody with any logic knows it should be legalized.

I bet Dana is dissapointed he bent over backwards for Nick, and gave him so many brakes, and concessions it was sickening.

Bah...everyone needs to cry more. Too bad rule-makers aren't people with sense.

I dont smoke weed or even drink, but makes no sense to legalize some poisons(high fructose corn syrup, various carcinogens, mercury, alcohol) and demonize things like this that people actually choose to use on their own without being tricked.

Don't know why you don't get it? Everyone takes a piss test to work. This is no different. So now every job should lighten up for people who can't be sociable? Nick lost his shot once again with his elementary school mentality. He's an anti-role model for kids who are just getting into the UFC.

Uhhh maybe kids shouldn't look to the UFC for their rolemodels?!?! Especially if they are as impressionable as you suggest.

Is nick a danger to himself or others because he smoked weed the day before or whatever? Lol, goodluck arguing that. It's the difference between a piss test for this fight and for working on some construction site.

Yea, noone who smokes weed is social.

I am sorry but this is a weak comment. The issue isn't whether marijuana should be legalized or not. this issue is that it IS a banned substance and he did screw over the ufc by testing positive he should be punished.

That is a popular thing that pot users say to each other. If only it were true.

The Nevada Athletic Commision needs to make an example here.

I think they need to get about 50 pounds of the best red-haired bud and force Nick Diaz to smoke every bud non-stop.

By the time he is done, he will be so sick of pot--he will never smoke it again!

Is this why Cesar shut down talk of a rematch? If so how did he know this was the result before the results where released to Keith Kizer?

Even before Kizer? That would mean Cesar would have received the results directly from the lab. Don't think that is how it works.

No Kizer knows first then the figters are notified, the public wont hear anything about usually for a day or two.

clearly reading between the lines, "It is now in the hands of the Nevada State Athletic Commission" means that the UFC don't plan on getting rid of him, and basically hope he gets a slap on the wrist so they can make some more money with him soon

honestly im not suprised but nick should either find a way to get it out of his system or not smoke it a month before his fight, i think diaz should know by now he cant get away with that shit in the UFC but theres no way dana gets rid of him..... be patient diaz vs gsp will happen

Take his complete purse for one.....He knew the rules and he broke the rules for the second time. He brought bad PR to the UFC, his team, sponsors. Complete ****

It makes it really easy now for the UFC.....not only did he lose the fight, he is a drug cheat, and he said he was retiring.

UFC aren't going to be begging for him to comeback.......there are plenty of other knobs to replace him

I agree pot should really not be considered a PED. But to knowingly take any banned substance even caffeine is STUPID. To throw away all the training, the money, tarnish your reputation with the largest promotion in the world and all the sponsors is something I cant even begin to understand. Diaz is truly RETARDED.

I think pot being illegal is ridiculous, but as long as it is, it will be a banned substance. It doesn't matter if it helps you or not, it's against the law.

And having had a suspension already, there is no question Nick knew that, which is seriously self-destructive move.

He had talked about retiring, but that was from MMA, to go and box. But it's the same athletic commission, so he messed that up too.

I have started to think that Diaz needs to switch camps. He's been with Cesar Gracie forever and I suspect he's got too many "yes" men around him. Maybe a different coach would help Diaz master his anger.
