Dana White: We'll probably see Brock Lesnar fighting Frank Mir next

"There won’t be an immediate rematch (between Brock Lesnar and Cain Velasquez), there is no need for one. After the fight Brock took some time off to go hunting; he and I haven’t spoken since the fight so I’m not sure what he wants to do next.

He never asked for Roy Nelson, that’s not true. The last thing I did hear was that he wants to fight Frank Mir again. That fight kind of makes sense so… We will probably see Lesnar fight Mir next, I think that the rubber match makes sense."
- Fighters Only

Lesnar has six fights in the UFC, two of them against Frank Mir. Maybe it's just me, but I think that fighting someone other than Frank Mir could only benefit Lesnar's 7-fight MMA record. This way or another, a trilogy between these two will surely be a sell-out, and a great fight to promote. Frank Mir might have a little bit more to lose in this one, especially after knocking out Mirko Cro Cop at the UFC 119 main event.

Stay tuned to LowKick.com for more news on Mir vs Lesnar III as they happen.

This fight makes no sense what so ever....

sure, it will sell coz of the drawing power both these fighters have, and the hatred they have for each other, but Mir had to start at the end of the line in the HW division when he lost, and why not Lesnar?

Plus Mir is on a good run at the minute, and a fight that made sense would of been MIR VS JDS. Lesnar should fight fighters like Nelson, Kongo, Schaub etc as he needs the experience and cage time, plus it would of gave him more time to improve his all round game.

Lesnar vs Mir III - should happen at some stage down the line.... but not this soon!

This fight does make sense in a business perspective - you said it yourself it will sell well. I agree though, I would like to see Brock tested against someone with a different skill set such as primarily striking.

I would want to see Lesnar vs Big Nog, where Lesnar is in real danger if he takes it to the ground. I have always thought that Nog was more dangerous on the Ground than Mir.

I don't see Brock getting anywhere close to the title again.

What the hell is happening to the matchmaking in the UFC?? There used to be a nice balance between what made sense and what was going to sell, they usually lined up. However, of late, with this fight being talked of, and the whole Shields/Fitch-Ellenberger fiasco, I'm starting to wonder if Joe Silva and Dana White are even keeping up with the rankings these days, or if they have any idea anymore what fans want to see.

They need outside help because they aren't ****ing paying attention and it's getting annoying.

so Dana is going safe here and try to make Lesnar the baddest man on the planet again! with a win over a guy he knows he can beat!

oh wait Heath Hearring wants to fight too! maybe they can make this super rematch of the ages! and give Lesnar a title fight if he wins again!

Mir likes that idea more too, every fan does, every pundit does, every other fighter does. That's why it's so insane that Mir-Lesnar 3 is even under consideration, it just makes no sense.

It would be good to finish the trilogy but is Brock really ready to fight Mir again? Since his illness he has been slower, weaker and gasses faster plus he tumbles when he gets punched in the face.

Am i the only one that notices?

Why not have Mir fight Schaub and Lesnar fight Nelson?

Then the winners of those fights (likely Mir and Lesnar) will fight for a title shot. That would make Mir vs. Lesnar III mean a lot more.
