Dana White: Knee Injury forces Georges St. Pierre out of UFC 137

In a somewhat unfortunate turn of events for this month's UFC 137 fight card in Las Vegas, Nevada, UFC President Dana White revealed on Twitter that Georges "Rush" St. Pierre is out of UFC Welterweight Title clash with Carlos "The Natural Born Killer" Condit. White tweeted "it's just one of those days", to the disappointment of MMA fans around the world that expected to see the French-Canadian in his second title defense this year:

White went on to add: "It's GSP'S knee. We will sit Carlos to wait for GSP. It's looking so far like he could be ready in a couple months. Still early to tell tho".

St. Pierre's original opponent, Nick Diaz, is still on the card and will be facin BJ Penn in what is now the new main event of the night. The card still features a great portion of talent, with Matt Mitrione vs. Cheick Kongo, Cro Cop vs. Nelson, Hioki vs. Roop, and Donald Cerrone vs. Dennis Siver, that will be probably promoted to the main card of the night.

Since GSP is going to be out for a while he should be gaining enough weight to fight anderson since they are both out. WHen they return they can fight each other lol

The card is already pretty stacked, so it will be a huge blow but will still be very exciting card to watch. I think this will give Silva a chance to do what he needs to at 185 before the fight between GSP and Silva we have ALL been waiting for happens.

Thats a pretty big blow but I think 137 is still insanely stacked card.....still has the possibility of being card of the year

It had a way better chance at being card of the year if GSP was fighting.

diaz dodged a bullet here, main event> dont turn up > demoted to co-main event> original opponent drops out> new opponent becomes main event, pretty damn lucky

I don't know about the Georges Safe-Pierre fans, but this will not affect the card at all.

NOOOO #$@% GSP. I know its not his fault, but one more reason to want to see him out cold when they do finally meet.

Think i would rather see Condit vs Diaz now. What if BJ wins, does he get another shot. We have seen all he can do against gsp. And im a bigger Penn fan than Diaz or gsp.

Hell, Fitch had him gassed and folded in half for the entire third round. I think a third fight against GSP would end in a fatality.

Diaz vs Penn was always the main event for me anyway on this card but it still sucks that Condit has to wait now when he's been on such a tear and had such good momentum going into this fight, i dont think he would have beaten GSP but he would have put up a good fight...............untill he got taken down that is. Still a great card though and i'm still excited for it!!!

The guy I feel worst for is Carlos Condit. I love the way he fights. Good on his feet, good on the ground and a ton and a half of heart. He was happy and Honored to fight BJ penn, then got promoted to the main card only to be dissapointed and forced to wait. We all saw what happened when he was against the ropes and clearly beaten by Rory Markham, He manned up and knocked the guy out or suffer a loss and any chance at a shot at the title.

Carlos has never really talked a huge amount of smack, He is confident as all fighters at this stage should be but somewhat Humble and reserved compared to many of his contemparies. I hope he does not over train or get himself hurt while waiting for his shot.

That being said, I think he had a punchers chance only but GSP would have ground out a victory. I just hate to see a good kids dreams get gashed. the fight game can be a hell of a roller coaster and shit happens but good luck in the future Carlos. I've always been a fan !

GSP is a stale champion and this is just another blemish on his legacy. Once a hungry, exciting fighter - GSP has turned into a play-it-safe, smother-your opponent, boring, apathetic performer...
