Dana White: Jones is not ready for a title shot just yet

Jon "Bones" Jones is coming off the biggest win in his career, when he defeated Brandon Vera via TKO in the first round at UFC Versues: Jones Vs Vera. Jones holds a record of 10-1 with the only loss coming in the form of a disqualification because Jones landed a illegal elbow to Hamill cutting Hamill open. Even though it has been a meteoric rise for the young superstar, Dana White feels he is not ready for a title shot just yet.

"I'd like to see him get another year under his belt," White said following the first UFC event on the Versus network. "And in that year, before he gets a shot at the title, he'd have to take out Rashad, Rampage, possible Shogun or Machida, and then get the title shot."

For now, Jon Jones' future is full of promises and there are only good things to come for this young 22 year old fighter.

Dana's rite and Jones would agree, time and time again you hear Bones tell interviewers he's young and has alot to learn and he's ready to climb the ladder to the champ... I definately think Thiago Silva would be a GREAT test for him, he's got good cardio heavy hands good striking technique and all in all he's just vicious... he won't fight Rashad because they're partners but Rampage would be an AMAZING test if he beats Rashad... I'd also love to see him vs Lil Nog, I seen on another post alot of people saying they think that would be a bad fight for Bones... how? other then him being a very good BJJ fighter? Bones has the wrestling to keep it off the matt and I know Lil nog is a good boxer But Bones has speed on him and I'm sure a HUGE reach advantage considering Bones has reach on probably every1 in the UFC... he's unorthodox and training with Greg jackson makes him even more serious... I see Lil Nog as a "test" but I think he'll have more trouble with some1 like Rampage who can overwhelm him with strength...

I think if Jones were to fight Thiago and then beat any of the superstar champs that Dana White mentioned, that in itself would be worthy of a titleshot...

He needs to fight more well known fighters. Like Rampage, or Rashad. Maybe even Forrest.
