Dana White: Jon Jones wants to fight as soon as possible, Dan Henderson is a possibility

"Jones called about four days ago and said 'okay let's go, I'm done with vacation. He said he wanted to take all this time off and then they were calling me four days ago saying he wants to fight as soon as possible.

He's ready to go. What could end up happening is Dan Henderson fights Jon Jones first, and then [Jones' subsequent fight] would be close to the time that Rashad fights. Or we see how things go with Rashad [versus Phil Davis] and Rashad fights him first."
- ESPN1100/98.9 FM via Yahoo! Sports

UFC President Dana White shared his thoughts about the "positive mess" in the UFC Light Heavyweight division. On January 28th, Rashad Evans will look to secure his spot as the #1 Contender in the UFC Light Heavyweight division, facing the undefeated Phil Davis in the main event of UC on FOX 2. If victorious against Davis, Evans is expected to get the first shot at Jones, while Dan Henderson is a reserve option in case of Evans' injury, or perhaps Phil Davis' victory. One way or another, Jon Jones is expected to make his return to the cage sometime between March and May.

Jones vs Henderson for UFC 145 in Montreal.

    I would watch it.

Hopefully the winner of that fight won't get injured, because then Rashad has to wait a long time again.

dan henderson is a possibility... to prolong rashad evans title shot even more!! jones said he wanted a few months off after the machida fight but as soon as evans is planned to fight davis he coincidently decides to fight again. i love hendo and think he should get a shot after 1 more fight but rashad is clearly the no1 contender by now. logically it should be hendo v davis and evans v jones but thats never gunna happen... bullshit

Let's not forget that Rashad has noone to blame but himself...

He went out of his way to CHALLENGE Jones last year, knowing damn well that if Jones accepted he could not take the fight because he had an injury. He knew Jones wanted time off so he thought Jones would not accept and would look bad.

But Jones did accept, so Rashad had to come clean, and Machida got the fight instead.

Rashad has nobody to blame but himself for his fight being prolonged.... Jones wouldnt have even fought Machida and Jones/Rashad would have been happening instead of Rashad/Davis if Rashad didnt challenge Jones with an injury.

rashad had a knee injury had to pull out, jones injured his thumb and pulled out of fighting rashad, so rashad signed to fight davis then jones instsantly signed to fight rampage. rashad had to fight tito when davis pulled out and now this again.

He is talking about after Jones fought Rampage, Evans challenged Jones, and Jones excepted, then Rashad said he had a hand injury. Thats where Machida stepped in your talking about stuff that happened last spring.

I dislike Jones a lot for what he did to Machida my favorite fighter after FEDOR. And I wanna see jones bleeding. But Dan Henderson has no chance against him. he is too stiff. He just has 1 weapon (because he relies too much on it) and its his H bomb. Jones will train hard to be able to avoid it during the fight, like GSP was able to avoid Kosheck's overhand right easily during their fight. I think maybe Rashad would be able to catch jones maybe with his amazing speed or Lyoto if he goes banana and attack jones even more agressively thn in their last fight .

I believe that the old Wanderlei would have beat jone jones jsut by swinging like a crazy guy until a punch catch him . LOL

Or just to piss you guys off , I will say that : FEDOR would be the one to beat Jones ! hahahahahahahah

i cant see that happening either, machida is too fast and a good counter puncher but he was only caught a couple of times. hendo has power in those hands(Hbombs) but kinda slow and im sure greg jackson is well equipped with strategy to avoid the H-bomb just to "wind some fans" :)

    "Ponny" is not a word.

Your lack of education obviously extends outside of MMA. It's probably best that you stick to WWE...(If that's what it's still called).

well i hope Jones doesn't think the little test his chin took against machida was enough to prove hes got a good one because if he fights Hendo it will be the biggest test of his life if he can take shots from hendo and keep going i don't think anyone will ever be able to beat him

This fight will go exactly the same as the Jones-Rampage fight. Hendo has Powerpunches. Not great technique. No kicks. Good TDD, Not great TD's. No Submissions, Great Chin.

    Jones by 3rd Round Submission.

Hendo is the next guy on my list. He will have his best chance against Bones in the first couple of rounds while he is still fresh and is at full power. If he can keep the pressure on Jones and land some hard shots, he might be able to finish the champ early.

But if the fight goes past three rounds, I gotta give it to Bones because Dan is 40 years old, and will undoubtedly fade in the championship rounds against a fighter of Jone's caliber.

At any rate, this will be an explosive and entertaining fight to see!

I can see Hendo and Bones fight ending up like the Rampage/Bones fight fairly easily. And I said the same thing about that fight; which is that Rampage would have his best shot in the first couple of rounds before he would start to slow and lose his mobility.

But I still like Hendo's chances in the first couple of rounds. He comes out so strong and aggressively, he may be able to overwhelm the champ. I know it's a big IF, but I still like Dan's chances early.

Sky is the limit for this guy. Even if he loses a fight, he will come back so much stronger and will only improve, @ his age what he's accomplished.

Love to see the fight because Hendo has 2 things which give him a realistic chance - the H-Bomb and being fearless.

Rampage may be pretty fearless but he tries to win a fight nowadays rather than to try and finish his opponent while Dan tries to knock his opponent's head off as soon as the bell rings. Dan also has one of the best chins in MMA.

If he can just wade through Jones strikes and throw that right hand he has a decent chance to catch Jones.

Apart from that, Bones all day.

I think things seemed too easy for him. Also he flips back and forth between saying things that look like he is trying to be humble and down to Earth and saying/doing things that sound arrogant. I.e. he seems arrogant but want to appear humble.

NO...LHW Div has great talent but when you get a guy like JJ with his size, strength, wrestling, athleticism...comon...guys like him come around rarely. There is nothing you can do but watch him perform.

Hendo will be kept at a distance, softened up until JJ is good and ready to go in for the kill..... Everybody thinks MACHIDA had the recipe...yeah for mash potatos. Same will happened to Hendo... Worse will happen to Evans....

But we don't know for sure until he fights these guys and proves beyond any doubt that he is the best.

Hendos got a puncher's chance for two rounds strong; so why not give him a shot at landing a few H-Bombs on Jones. I think Dan is another stiff test for the champ.
