Dana White: Jake Shields will definitely leave the "small-time" Strikeforce

UFC President Dana White has declared in an interview to AHN.com that the Strikeforce Middleweight Champion Jake Shields "is definitely coming to the UFC". White continued his verbal onslaught on Scott Coker's promotion, calling Strikeforce a "small-time unknown organization". The signature of Jake Shields would be a huge boost to the Ultimate Fighting Championship roster, considering his ability to fight in both Welterweight and Middleweight divisions.

"Jake Shields is definitely going to leave Strikeforce, and he's definitely coming to the UFC. First of all, they put all of their eggs in the Dan Henderson basket. They went out and acquired him and thought he was worth a lot more money than we were willing to pay him [...] They're a Podunk, unknown, small-time organization. There shouldn‘t have been that many guys in the cage in the first place!"

The victory over the legendary Dan Henderson improved Jake Shields' record to 25-4-1, as his last loss was to the Japanese fighter Akira Kikuchi more than six years ago. Thirty-one year old Jake Shields is currently on an extraordinary 14-fight winning streak, with  notable victories over Paul Daley, Mayhem Miller, Robbie Lawler, Yushin Okami, Toby Imada and Hayato Sakurai in his career.

The UFC & Dana would really be sticking it to SF if they sign Shields. Dana's saying stuff to get in Jakes head & make it happen.

If you listen to Dana White then Strikeforce has never done anything right, they have never had one interesting fight, they, and in fact any other organization, has no business being in business, because they are not the UFC.

He'll probably end up sticking it to Shields too. A few "boring" fights and Zuffa will probably cut him. I think these people will do anything to stick it to the competition. Dirty.

If Jake Shields comes to the UFC I think he should go to the Welterweight division, he will have better match ups their and better chances of winning

He's got a style that may challenge GSP considering all GSP does is takedowns.

he did a great job against fitch and we all know that shields sucks on his feet.

That would be a good fight. Personally I think GSP would win, but I wouldnt totally count Shields out considering the similarities in their style. I guess a good way to put it is if they were to fight 10 times, I think GSP would win probably 8 times.....In other words, GSP 80%

I dunno, but I think Shields will really go, if its not already in action. I am not saying this to incite an argument or brawl (pun-intended) but regardless of what Strikeforce fans think, most of these fighters, with the exception of a few with certain circumstances, desire to be with the UFC. The fact that the offer is on the table alone makes me feel Shields will go. If and when that happens we all kno what we will see very very shortly after his inception, right? Silva vs Shields! Wouldnt mind seeing this fight. I know who would win, but I still would like to see it.

Well where he SHOULD go has nothing to do with where he actually IS.........Why did u say "NO" as if my entire statement had something to do with which weight class he SHOULD be in, when at no point at was that even a topic. If he signs to the UFC, he will fight Silva. If u dont think so then I question ur intelligence.

I actually think Shields V Silva would be interesting. If it stays standing we all know what happens but Shields has very good take downs and on the ground he might be able to control Silva. I would like to see that fight.

Exactly. I think that it would happen because of the lack of Silva challengers left. He definitely has a chance and I dont say that about very many guys when it comes to Silva.

Fitch vs. Shields would be a lay n pray match.

GSP actually outstrikes, and beats up his opponents.

    Shields has no chance.

Though GSP would be fine on the ground, he might actually decide to stand against him. His striking is far superior and is under-rated.

How does he beat up his opponents? He hugged and played with Hardy on the ground....albeit he has smacked people in the face like Fitch & Serra, but Shields' stand up has improved and he has better BJJ skills than GSP - GSP is a better wrestler by a bit, but Shields is strong and a great wrestler himself. Milkytits, you have posted a few dumb things over the last day - you should watch some fights and change your screen name

Watch the fight between GSP and Alves. GSP won almost every striking exchange and even dropped him once. Also, he didn't "smack" Serra. He beat him the f\/(k up. He also out struck and dropped Fitch. GSP is an excellent striker.

Shields is definitely leaving Strikeforce. Why does Dana keep taking shots at Strikeforce when the Strikeforce people have never said anything bad about the UFC atleast in public?.

You need 10 rounds for Shields vs GSP ...both of them can easily grind 5 rounds.

Bouncing around 4 division is just about impossible the div are so much deeper you can't be fighting all over the place to move up a ladder in a div, you have to stay in one div to get a title shot.

Yea because the UFC didnt drop him by not giving him the money he asked for......Strikeforce just took him cause they are the most super duper greatest promotion in the entire galaxy!! Then, since he was obviously the BEST numero uno fighter the UFC ever had ever dude, they sure showed everyone by putting the UFC's best and only good fighter ever in there with Shields. Plus Henderson is most definitely in his prime and stands for everything UFC, even when it was Strikeforce who paid a ton of money for him. He is STILL the UFC poster boy dude, TOTALLY MAN!! Good thing MOKOKO put that whole plan together too man!! And it worked dude!! It freaking WORKED!!!

You have to admit, UFC really won out on this one. Strikeforce busted their balls to get Henderson, and really hyped him. Then he geats beat in his first fight, and then shields comes to UFC. Kind of makes Strikeforce at a loss of what to do.

It is no where near the the knockout blow that elitexc had with kimbo and petruzelli, but that was just as unpredictable.

Jake Shields really does seem like a guy who genuinely wants to test himself against the best in the world and he has more or less cleaned out SF of any worthy challengers now so the UFC is the best place for him imo, especially after the way SF were backing Hendo to replace him as their new champ, hell, even i thought Hendo would beat him. Fair play to Jake man, he's a true warrior, i can't wait to see how he does against the UFC elite...... I also hope it's a matter of time now before the rest of the gracie clan follow i.e. Melendez & Diaz etc.....

To all you guys out their talking smack that gsp will own shields are on crack. Because gsp got tapped in 32 seconds by leo santos who isnt even a cage fighter who is used to punches at a grappling touney.check the humilation out on youtube. In same tourney shields raped that leo santos and won the tourney. so on the ground gsp would get OWNED but standing sheilds would take a beating. But im very sure he would get a single leg takedowns and ride a decision victory.

Just because he got tapped in a JJ tournament by a guy that Shields beat does not mean that GSP would lose the ground game. The whole equation changes when you add in punches.
