UFC on FOX 2 is set to take place on Saturday at Chicago’s United Center. The press conference for the event took place on Thursday, after which UFC President Dana White took some time out of his busy schedule to discuss a few topics with MMAFighting.com’s Ariel Helwani.

Among the subjects that were discussed by White were the personality and actions of Chael Sonnen who ramped things up a bit at the press conference by bringing a UFC championship belt with him to the dais. From there he spoke about the co-main event and main event at UFC on FOX 2.

However, the main focus of the interview was the recent hacking of the UFC’s website. White had some pretty strong words for the individuals that hacked the site. In fact White went so far as to compare those that hacked the UFC’s website to terrorists.

LOL, Anonymous have hacked his personal info, social security number, criminal record etc. Do not **** with hackers.

And while in general I oppose a fair proportion of what a lot of hackers do, branding this kind of thing 'terrorism' is an absolutely cvnty thing to do (and not to mention supporting SOPA). DFW absolutely deserves what he's getting now.

Everything that happened to Dana was in response to this video. The hackers were really pissed that they were called terrorist. Although Dana is not a big fish that these hackers should be after, and weather you like it or not this had nothing to do with liberating the internet this attack on Dana was a cyber assualt.

Wow. Dana White has said some sh*t in his day but I am really blown away by this. Throwing around the term "terrorist" like that and saying you can't challenge the government?? WTF is he talking about ? Is the UFC not in a lawsuit with the state of NY right now??

acting like a terror ists ? that has to be the dumbest and most ignorant comment Dana has said in a looong time if not ever!

people need to understand that is all BS made up to scare people

what they did was hack a site which is ilegal

which is a crime there for they are criminals period.

if they want to catch people that do that kind of crimes

well make an agency for it, want to catch a robber get the cops

want to catch a serial killer get the fed's

don't punish the entire world wide web for it.

on the other hand what they did with Dana was mess up

but he should had kept his mouth shut and focus on the fights

get Silva to man up and fight Sonnen!

Make Hendo vs Jones happen! and forget the BS

Want more PPV's put better fight cards and/or Lower the price a bit

I have Rashad winning this fight because he is more well rounded and experienced. Phil Davis pretty much just has wrestling and submissions. It will be hard for Phil to take Evans down when he has great wrestling as well.

Why did they shut down the UFC website for 2 days? I've kinda gotta agree with Dana here in the way that they are acting like terrorists. I hate the SOPA bill and i'm all for freedom of speech etc. But Dana has nothing to do with SOPA so why is he targeted? I agree he's ignorant here and he only cares about people stealing his PPV sales etc which is all he cares about. He has nothing to do with the overall internet movement and should be left out; he has the right to have an ignorant opinion and to express it. Terrorising him and the UFC website for having an opinion isn't what Anonymous is meant to be about. It's about freedom of speech. If Dana gets into government and votes to pass a SOPA bill, then you can terrorize him.

Terrorists? To talk about some kids taking down a website in the same breath (and using the same term for them) as the insane fvcks who carried out 9/11 or kill thousands every year with IEDs is absolutely pathetic. Those of you that are blindly repeating Dana's crap about these hackers being terrorists are complete morons. Please do us all a favor and go get yourself sterilized because the thought of idiots like you reproducing is way scarier than anything that lurks on the internet.

dana white is not the least bit concerned about a one off hacking episode...Lets face it, Dana has a billion dollar company with the best IT people to address any issues...

The problem with DANA however is that you will never hear him talking tough without his bodyguard two feet away. Remember why Dana left his hometown ? He was scared of getting beaten up....Dana is not the bad ass he makes out, but yes he is a great businessman

Companies much larger than the UFC (Sony for example) have been burned by hackers in the past. The UFC is doing more and more of it's business online and these kind of cyber attacks are certainly something they should be worried about. If you've bought stuff online from the UFC website (like ordering ppv's etc) you should be worried too.

Dana gets a little loony when it comes to dollar signs. He has a "war" mentality when it comes to any form of competition, and that is why he dislikes internet users and calls them cowards. But he backhands the same thing that allowed him such great success. He would be where the UFC was in 1993, or slightly better, if it weren't for the internet allowing so many people to follow along and stay interested. Dana can be a silly - and dishonest - man. This may lead to a decline in UFC popularity or perhaps some amount of boycotting, and righty so if you ask me. Supporting PIPA/SOPA/ACTA, calling out people as terrorists, not questioning the government while being heavily pro-military, I find it disturbing.

If he expressed an opinion of "the government is wrong", and the government harassed him, released his personal details online (including criminal record and social security number) and hacked the UFC website, you'd all be crying out corruption and how evil the government is. But when he expresses an opinion of "online piracy is wrong", and Anonymous does all the actions stated above, that's fine and hooray for the justified actions of Anonymous. It's hypocritical and immature. Every citizen of the USA has a right to their opinion without being terrorized - it's called Freedom of Speech

well Bigz, its not easy being intelligent. The smarter you get the worse the world looks around you and there are certain abundant truths we must accept. The human race as a whole is a "user" which only thrives for its own personal gratification. Everyone perceives a subject in how it relates to them personally instead of how it affects everyone as a whole. Therefore we will always live in conflict no matter how correct or fair your views maybe. Referred to as the "other factor"

All that you said is a 100% true. However large corporations that are supporting legislation like SOPA (or most other legislation like the bank bailouts) aren't simply exercising free speech. They're also hiring lobbyists and using a bunch of other underhanded methods to influence Washington to enact legislation that is often not in the interests of the people of this country, with the UFC being no exception. So this isn't simply about Dana exercising his First amendment rights but about corporations using their influence to undermine the First Amendment and the political system in general.

Thats funny. Dana runs his world with a hammer and knows anyone who attacks him will get sued bigtime. But when he runs into the invisible warrior...lets see how he deals with this adversity.

Dana has made a very big mistake here. Anyone who has been watching events unfold online knows that there is a growing cyber war going on between governments and Anonymous. Whether the government can be beaten is not the point that corporations and business men like Dana White need to worry about. Anonymous has more than demonstrated that it can decimate any corporation or individual that gets its attention. Companies like HBGary and Stratfor will never truly recover.

I respect that Dana White is a man who speaks his peace but he needs to be careful that he doesn't turn into another Aaron Barr, a man who was actually in the business of Internet security.

I can't see the video at work because we aren't allowed the necessary programs but I agree with Dana on this one. I know I'm the only one on this site but we should take anyones work without paying them for it.

Dana couldn't even give Ariel a reason and started getting angry...how funny....

I'm not saying stealing PPV's or watching them streaming is morally right, but people who do wouldn't necessarily buy the PPV's anyway. So, no money is being lost. It could even convert more fan's that way because someone who is new to watching mma would never spend $40-50 on a PPV event. Idk i might be talking out of my ass.

Terrorists? For trying to protect free speech? So I guess the founding fathers were terrorists as well?

I'm a writer, so I believe in copyright protection, but that only goes so far. If someone tried to steal my work to make money off it, it's lawyer time.

So if the UFC wants to go after people who are making money off websites that allow people to see the stream for free, I have no problem with that.

But there is a lot of other BS in SOPA that has nothing to do with that. It's like going after a mosquito with a flamethrower. It's written by old dudes in Washington who wouldn't know a browser from a cookie.

I've always liked Dana, but maybe he needs a dose of his own "call it as I see it" credo.

Either he's supporting a fascist agenda or he should have found out a bit more about the issue before he opened up his mouth.
