Dana White: I would love to do GSP vs. Silva in Canada

“Obviously it’s a fight that people have been talking about for a long time. Like Georges said, first of all, he has to get healthy.  Then he’s got to fight Condit.  Anderson is fighting Chael Sonnen (80,000 soccer stadium in Brazil), and then we’ll see where we go from there. I want to put on big fights. I want to put on fights that the fans want to see. I know how big that fight is. Imagine if we did Anderson Silva vs. GSP anywhere in Canada, how big that would be. Believe me, I’d love to do this fight. We’ll see what happens.”

Speaking at the "special announcement" UFC press conference in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Dana White once again spoke about the potential superfight between Georges St. Pierre and Anderson "The Spider" Silva. White admitted he would love the match-up to take place in Canada, with sights on breaking the attendance record set at UFC 129: GSP vs. Shields, which took place at the Rogers Centre in Toronto.

Reigning UFC Welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre remained politically correct about the question of fighting Anderson Silva. St. Pierre said he's currently concentrating on rehabilitating his knee, and the upcoming title defense against the Interim champ Carlos Condit.

Hey, if Dana can do either one while they're fighting, he deserves the belt!

no way is he to old and GSP was talking about it but more less as he gets older and harder to cut weight or if his weight class was cleaned out

but his weight class has some really good fights for himat least 3-4 and with each fight having 3mo of trainingwill be at least 1yr away and no telling the talent that might step in so just dont see that fight ever happening and Silve would rather move up in weight tons of talent and would just be easier

Won't happen, and after the Condit fight I would rather see Gsp fight Diaz than Silva.

In the past year the Welterweight division has gotten extremely deep. Ellenberger, Diaz, Condit, Mcdonald, Ebersole all have to be fought before the division is cleaned out. A couple of years at least.

As cool as it sounds, silva vs gsp doesn't make sense. I'm too lazy to write all the reasons but you all know why. Dana only sees big dollars opportunity in this.

I feel it's unfair giving a home advantage to either of the best fighters on the planet in the biggest fight of all time.

I know business would be insane if done in Canada or Brazil and it probably will be done in Canada.

I think the best possible option would be to do it in the debut of Madison Square Garden.

HaHa now thats a thought. It would be much more interesting than people imagine. Anderson punches him right on the chin and he looks at him and calls Anderson a bich. LoL.

terrible match up, silva is to tall and to good of a striker for GSP. So GSP will be diving at silvas leg to take him down. most likely he will take him down and lay on him and win the fight silva's wrestling is terrible.

Lets see bonny jones fight Anderson....Thats where Anderson needs to go...Most of the fights for Anderson bar the Sonnen fight have been complete one sided victories.

Randy couture resurrecting from retirement or Tim Sylvia "fighting Overeem" its more possible than a GSP vs Silva fight...

You would think with all the money the UFC is bringing in Dana would be better prepared. I don't think Dana (UFC) really cares about Canada, they just want their money. Just saying.

GSP was asked a question, and he answered it the same way as usual. Then Dana said he would love a GSP vs Silva bout--naturally--kaching.

GSP knows that if he fights AS, it could very well be the last fight of his career, win or lose. If he wins, does he really want to defend the MW title against a division which is all much bigger than he is? Or does he go back down and fight the same guys--or Rory MacDonald who he does not want to fight?

GSP knows he has a fight with Condit--and hopefully one with Diaz. By that time, Ellenberger, Kampmann or MacDonald may also be in line.
