Dana White: Faber will fight for the Interim belt, Cruz stays on TUF
Posted on May 9, 2012, 07:39 AM by Anton GurevichSpeaking on Fuel TV's "UFC Tonight", Ultimate Fighting Championship president, Dana White, has officially confirmed that Urijah Faber will still compete at UFC 148, for the Interim UFC Bantamweight title.
"I'm looking for the right opponent, the guy who deserves this shot at Urijah Faber," said Dana White, who has a number of options to choose from. Renan Barao (28-1, 3-0 UFC) and Michael McDonald (15-1, 4-0 UFC) are leading candidates to get a shot at Faber, although it looks like the decision will fall in favor of the Brazilian.
Dominick Cruz was forced out of the card due to a torn ACL, but will still remain to coach his team at The Ultimate Fighter: LIVE. Cruz could need around 9 months to recover from injury, joining Georges St. Pierre on the list of "ACL unlucky" UFC champions.
UFC 148 will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on July 7th. The event is headlined by Anderson Silva's UFC Middleweight title defense in a fight with Chael Sonnen, which can be easily labeled as one of the most anticipated rematches in MMA history.

what about one punch.. y is he over looked picket is coming off a good peformance as well as those guys.
Barao just beat him however and easily.
I wouldn't say easily as it was quite a slugfest but he did finish him in devastating fashion.
I think Micheal Mcdonald is an excellent choice, let us see if he is the next great one. He appears to have all the tools
o well that explains that then
maybe a picket v mcdonald fight for number 1 contender if barao gets faber
Pretty obvious Barao will get this shot against Faber
Enjoy the fake belt Faber, if you can even win it, cause Cruz will pick you apart once again when you eventually meet again.
Cruz will also be the only one actaully hurt.
cute boy
