He let Hawani off easy... What did we learn from the first round? That Lesnar isn't as tough as we thought? It's a biased way to look at the question. What we learned was the guy with the heaviest sledg-hammer power in all of MMA, can smash Lesnar on the button over and over as hard as he can, and Lesnar didn't go out. Who else would have survived that? Nobody... His chin is stellar, Dana should have let this guy have it.

Were you watching a different fight?

We learned that Lesnar has ZERO standup and all you have to do is hit him in the face before he goes into panic mode.

We also learned that Carwin has about 20 punches in him before his gas tank is COMPLETELY empty.

Lesnar and Carwin have been exposed and both should move down in the rankings after that performance.

But you don't want to hear the truth...

Totally agree I was in shock when I seen Lesnar flinching when ever Carwin threw a punch.

If anything this is showing that the UFC heavyweight division is as weak as it ever has been.

Notice how they kept flogging "The baddest man on the planet"?

I ain't drinking the Dana White Koolaid.

Melvin Manoef, Mark Hunt, even Mighty Mo will knock Brock stupid. Don't even have to mention Fedor and Overeem.

Dana won't allow good heavyweights into the UFC, it is not that they don't want to sign. Why injure the cash cow.

exactly! Dana says he wants to sing Fedor, but he can't. That's bullshit. He does not want to sign him at all because Fedor would demolish his HWs.

Your post is one of the few that sums up the experience.

Lesnar is a giant spoiled kid playing MMA, he did panic when Carwin came in for the kill, then surprised himself with the win.

I suppose everyone should have known Carwin would have no cardio only going one round in each fight.

I summed it up pretty much the same on another article and got a load of weaks for it, glad to see I'm not alone in thining last night proved how overrated they both were and how many holes they both have in their games.

DW says its best night of his career. Well the other fights were good, I particularly enjoyed the Leben fight, he hung in there and slowly turned it around minute by minute. Excellent fight. But Carwin / Lesnar have exposed DW's BS for what it really is. He can't really call his stable of HW's the best if lesnar is the best he's got.

Depends on the referee. If I was Dana's boy I would of been unconscience and still would of won the fight. Brock wasn't blocking all his punches. Herb Dean would of ran in and stop it.

AGREED! Hawanni's interviews are mediocre. He seems intimidated by Dana White all the time; he tried to break a question down to Couture in a past UFC and got slammed! LOL! That debate with Dana over who the best p4p in the world is was a joke.... He is good but is weak at times...

I doubt most of those hits were to Lesnar's chin. You could see most of the damage was done around the eyes. If ANYONE gets hit right on the chin it's LIGHTS OUT.

Brock did what noone elses has done after getting hit hard by Shane, he stayed awake. It wasnt pretty but heavy weight fights almost never are. What do expect guys this size to do, leap over each other like a couple of Mexican wrestlers? Shane punched himself out. Brock capitalized on it in the second round. Nuff said.

Brock is the champ and deserves it. He made a great comeback in the second round. I didn't expect him to do that but he did and he gets my respect for that. I can't believe people are trying to act like Brock's game is flawless though. I thought he looked slow and sluggish when trying to strike with Carwin and that failed takedown looked awful. Brock is a beast on the ground and I think that is where he will win most of his fights. If he gets top position it's over. His pass to full mount was excellent.

Simple....Carwin WITH Cardio would be champ right now and people are stupid if they cant face that fact. Mental toughness has to be acquired individually. Carwin has it, by Brock's reaction to getting hit, he doesnt have it.

"People" are stupid because they don't realize that no matter how much cardio there is, the body stops quickly after high intensity exercise, period.

I think that still falls into not being in the right shape for the fight.

Ive seen Shogun go 15 minutes straight wide open, muscle hydration and recovery is the issue here as revealed by Carwin.

If this is Dana's best night, than I am sorry for him. Brock won because Carwin had no gas left in his tank, Lesner had maybe a gallon more. This fight showed that Lesner has no punching skills, but good chin, his cardio is weak, but his weight can help keeping opponents on the ground. If Carwin had a little more gas, he would have taken Lesner.

Have you ever done high intensity cardio in your life buddy? it's not a question of cardio, it's a fact that during high-intensity exercise, the body works anaerobically to create energy from sugar, and eventually your muscles WILL shut down in order to prevent permanent damage.

There's no amount of training that will stop that from happening buddy, and if it did then goodluck competing without any muscles.

That came from way out there buddy lol

The point is that Carwin smashed him hardcore. Brock was running away panicked, curled up into a fetal position and got jacked in the face for about 30 seconds before Carwin couldn't move his arms.

Maybe it was the lactic acid that gassed his arms? Or maybe he just didn't train for a 5 round fight? We will never know why he gassed so fast but that does not change the fact that we have seen hundreds of other fights where the attacker does not gas and continues to fight on even after the opponent weathered the early storm.

Bravo to BL for hanging in there in the first and weathering the storm. Bravo to BL for pulling off a submission (even if it was basically handed to him, SC didn't really put up much of a defense; he was gassed).

With that said - the thing I am impressed with the most with BL's performance last night, was his performance after the fight. There was no trash talking, he was respectful and came across as being a much more humble fellow. That attitude will win him fans and endorsements. I hope he continues with this more subdued attitude.

I picked Shane to win, but I'm pleased with the outcome, either way. The sport has a legitimate HW champ, now. It was a solid fight. It was a great card, overall. I was very happy with all of the performances, last night.

The fight was great and Carwin is my favorite fighter ,he was good in 1 st R but if his skill a little bit better he had the fight,he didn't gas out just think the guy 265 lbs lay on him and submitted him with the triangle choke/armbar ,simply he can't breath and I knew for sure if Lesnar take Carwin to the ground is game over. I credited Lesnar for tough as nail and submission skill and seem to me Danna favored Lesnar as well as I think.imo

I think Lesnar got exposed. A puncher will beat Lesnar. I think Overeem, or Fedor can knock his ass out. The guy is a beast. His ground game might be the best. He is like a good LB or DE run right at him. If he is charging at you or comes at you then your screwed. I am curious if anyone knows. Usually Lesnar is the aggressive one. Why didn't he come out like he usually does?

We also learned that Lesnar's Division 1 wrestling wasn't good enough to take down the Division 2 wrestler Carwin in the first round when they were both fresh...

    There goes that myth also...

Fedor was right about keeping his eye on Velasquez instead of Lesnar/Carwin.... Cain will destroy him.

    @predatory

I think you have great insight on last nightt's fight.

However, It seemed like Shane was as surprised at anyone that he tanked so bad. In an interview he said his whole body was cramping. Now i don't believe he is making excuses, and when you think about it, it seems like it would be very hard to train for someone of Brock's freakish stamina. I wouldnt doubt he was pushing his muscles harder than he had his entire life in the first round which lead to his poor preformance.. He actually said his cardio was fine it was his body that failed. These are two massive guys throwing each other around... And jesus what a tank Lesnar has. That dude truely is a animal..

Shane is without a doubt a great man with many skills, ultimately has was out matched by Lesnar this time. I would like to see a rematch with Shane before anyone else simply because I think Lesnar would work on his stand up considerably and Shane his muscle cardio and we would see an even greater fight.

Regardless Brock fought with honor and was respectful and as Shane said, Preformed like a champion.

As well to chip in on everyones Fedor debate:

Fedor truly is one the greatest fighters in all of MMA and is without a doubt a true warrior with the kindness of a priest and the presence of an emperor. After seven years he loses. That fool did not slip in seven years in the heavyweight division. I don't care what caliber of fighters people say he has fought, in seven years if Fedor wasn't one of the greatest fighters he would have lost. Watching him fight is always an honor.

But could he compete in the new UFC Heavyweight division? Thats questionable. Up to a year ago I would have said yes without having to think about it. But things have changed. There is one fact that I find undeniable.. Brock is 265 cutting weight, fighting at 280. Fedor is 235 with an 8 inch smaller reach!

Hypothetically thats like Kenny Florian versus Rampage Jackson..

I'll spare this more length by just saying, We need a 235 weight division.

    Peace.
